Bug-Off 2025

The first Bug-Off tournament of the year was held today, and Nat told me he would be glued to his spot until 6:00 p.m.

Nat: Well! For this day only, I shall be glued to this very spot until 6 o'clock!

I decided to keep an eye out for bugs as I made my rounds. Moments later, I was looking for the day’s money rock when a centipede popped out of a rock. I caught it and took it over to Nat. He judged it to be worth 71 points, which was more than the previous record, Marina’s 54-point diving beetle. Nat rewarded me with a black bishop for taking over the top spot.

Nat: And in return, I'll just help myself to your nice centipede. Yoink!

Honestly, I was surprised that a centipede was good enough to take the top spot. But that didn’t stop Robin from predicting that she would win the Bug-Off.

Robin: Sorry, but I'm the one who is going to win the Bug-Off today.

As I continued my walk around town, I spotted a Raja Brooke butterfly! I quickly tracked it down.

I caught a Raja Brooke butterfly! What a cute red collar!

However, I didn’t want to give it to Nat unless someone else overtook the top spot. Why give away a fairly valuable bug if I didn’t have to?

Over by the museum, I was surprised when Big Top called Nana a rat for finding out his secret bug-catching spot! 😆

Big Top: Nana found out where my top-secret bug-catching spot is... What a rat.

I circled back around town to the plaza outside of town hall, and Robin told me that people assume she attracts the wrong kind of bugs. 😆

Robin: People say that sweetly perfumed people like me attract the wrong kind of bugs...

But she assured me that she can lure good bugs too. I don’t even want to know what she’s talking about. 😛

I hung out next to Nat for a while, occasionally checking to see if my centipede had been overtaken. If so, I’d give Nat the Raja Brooke butterfly…but that wasn’t necessary. I held onto the top spot and won the Bug-Off. Nat told me my prize would be sent in the mail. I then went to Nook’s to sell the butterfly…but it only netted me 2,500 bells. I was thinking it was more valuable than that, but oh well.

I returned to the game later tonight, and made my way over to the Roost. Along the way, I had a chat with Mint. The conversation wasn’t very interesting, but I enjoyed how a firefly flew right in between our faces, illuminating Mint’s face.

Mint: I mean, this is the only time you can really stop and think, don't you think?

Once I got to the Roost, K.K. Slider professed his love for me. 😛

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: I Love You.

After the show, I wrapped up my game for the night. But I’ve actually posted two ACCF videos this week! First, I posted the latest City Folk Moments video:

And then I posted a gameplay video of a 25-minute evening session that I recorded on Wednesday.

I hope you enjoy both videos! I’ll be back with another entry next week, and I hope to see you then! Never Stop Crossing!
