Spooky Coincidence

Today is Halloween, and I started out shortly after 5 p.m. by using my Guest character to drop 10-12 pieces of candy for my main character, Jeff. Once I switched over, I checked my mail and put on my newly-arrived pirate costume from Tom Nook. Fortunately, it was in shipshape condition. Tom Nook really hooked me up with a great costume. 🏴‍☠️

I then made my rounds, making sure to trap any villagers who were outdoors.

Monty the monkey is trapped by some holes in the ground.
Sorry, monkey. 😛

After I trapped the five outdoor villagers, I spotted a giant petaltail dragonfly. Despite having many opportunities at close range, I simply could not catch the darn thing.

I have no depth perception with this eye patch on!

I gave up my search once I realized it was time for the villagers’ transformations at 6:00 p.m. Here’s a GIF of one villager scooting into his Jack costume.

And with that, the Halloween event was on! I began searching for Jack, giving him candy in exchange for spooky furniture. I also did a little trick-or-treating to get some extra candy from my villagers.

Rosie: Ack! Wait! Stop! I know the rules! I have candy! Just don't trick me and stuff, la-di-da!

I took a break at one point, but I hunted down Jack over and over, for about an hour and a half in total.

Jack: It's a spooky bookcase, pumpkin.

I found him a total of 26 times, and I sold those 26 spooky items for a total of 268,060 bells.

I didn’t realize this until just now, when I checked my blog entries from the past two years… But in 2023 and 2024, I also collected exactly 26 spooky items (which of course sold for the same amount, 268,060 bells). It certainly wasn’t planned, and I didn’t have any certain limit in mind (in items or time played), so it’s weird that I just happened to stop at 26 items three years in a row. 😮 Now that is a spooky coincidence!

I recently posted a video taking a look back at some previous Halloweens throughout the Animal Crossing series (which of course includes plenty of City Folk clips). If you’d like to take a look back through some of those Halloween memories, here is the video:

Happy Halloween, everyone! 🎃 I’ll be back with another entry next week. Hope to see you then!

Scoot Back

I found a new house in town today, and it was in the same spot where Marina lived. My newest neighbor is Scoot the duck!

Scoot: WHOA! You must be one of my new Forest neighbors!

I like Scoot, but probably not as much as I liked Marina. And Scoot lived in Forest in 2018-19, so it hasn’t been a super long time since I’ve seen him.

When I visited Mint, she commented on the fact that I’ve been wearing my pulse shirt for a while. She told me that it’s not right for me to wear the same clothes all the time. How rude!

Mint: Listen. You can't just wear the same clothes all the time, it's minty. I mean, it's just not right.

For one thing, that’s none of your business, Mint. And by the way, you’ve been wearing that guard uniform since at least August 10th! That’s several weeks longer than I’ve been wearing my pulse shirt! 😡

But even before Mint said that, I had already decided to order myself a new costume for Halloween this year. I dressed as a cavalier last year, and a mummy in 2023. Ultimately, I decided to order myself a pirate outfit.

Pirate's hat: 192 bells.

I bumped into Fang, and he said the line about howling at the moon. Perfect for a wolf! It also worked well with his catchphrase, “I howled.”

Fang: Evening. It's one honey of a night, isn't it? Makes me want to howl at the moon, I howled!

The catchphrase made it sound like he was saying “I wanted to howl at the moon, so I did.”

Later, I went over to the Roost for K.K.’s Saturday night show. He performed “K.K. Cruisin'” for me. Good song!

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Cruisin'.

Last Sunday, I posted a (rare) new episode of Mario Plays ACCF. If you haven’t seen it yet, here it is:

I’m planning on playing City Folk for Halloween again this year, and hopefully I’ll remember to trap my villagers ahead of time. 😉 Anyone else going to be playing some of the older games on Halloween?

Fossils Calling Out

I received Marina’s goodbye letter in the mail today. The ink was still wet. 🐙

Dearest Jeff, I'm leaving Forest today... I know it's the right step, but I'm still sad, because I'll be leaving you. I hope I see you again someday. -From Marina

You can tell Halloween is coming by the color of the grass and trees. It’s getting close; less than two weeks to go!

The autumn colors of nature in Forest.

When Felicity asked me for a new catchphrase, I wanted to give her something fitting for Halloween. So I told her to say “BOO!” 👻

Felicity: Woo hoo! BOO!

Deena was sick with a cold, so I gave her a dose of medicine. Get well soon, Deena!

Around 8:30 p.m., I headed over to the Roost for the Saturday night show. I asked K.K. Slider for a random song (as usual), and he performed “K.K. Casbah” for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Casbah.

I ran into Big Top outside, after the show. He was holding a shovel, and he was out looking for fossils. He even said he could hear their names calling out to him.

Big Top: I can hear their names calling to me... Neanderthal, pterodactyl, tyrannosaurus...

Fortunately, I didn’t hear them calling out myself. This would be a very different game if the old fossils started coming back to life. 😛
