A Rash Decision

I ran into Gwen by a pond tonight, and she told me the proper way to hold a fishing rod. She said to extend your pinky finger “WAY out.” But her tip wasn’t about fishing, it was just about looking fantastic while holding a fishing rod. 😛

Gwen: That's the Gwen style of fishing anyway. I don't catch much, but I LOOK fantastic!
Well, about that…

I entered Rasher’s house to see that he had all his belongings packed up in boxes! Yes! My least favorite villager in town is moving out!

Rasher: See, this whole moving thing came up so fast I didn't think I'd have time to say good-bye to folks.

It was K.K. night, so I headed down to the Roost to enjoy a song. He played Aloha K.K. for me. It’s not a bad song, but I was yawning my way through it. 😛

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Aloha K.K..

Back outside, I listened in on a conversation between Lucky and Queenie. He asked what her daily routine was like, and she went into way too much detail.

Queenie: But only specialty coffee that I get from the Roost. And the cereal NEVER has marshmallows in it.

Lucky was getting frustrated because he didn’t think Queenie was eating enough food…or enough good food. He asked me to catch a catfish for him… wait. A dog wants a catfish? I was fortunate enough to find one in the river, and he rewarded me with a bucket.

Lucky: OK then, let me give you a bucket in exchange, woof woof!
That pails in comparison to most furniture rewards.

And of course, I spent a good chunk of time bug-hunting. I was finding a lot of good bugs. For example, here you can see a golden stag and a giant beetle at the same time. I caught them both. 🙂

My haul included eight scarab beetles, eight goliath beetles, seven giant beetles, three golden stags, three elephant beetles, two hercules beetles, an atlas beetle, a cyclommatus, and a shark.

In all, I earned about 330,000 bells on the night! Granted, it was a fairly long play session (1 hour, 45 minutes), but I’d say it was quite productive. It actually could’ve been even better, but several valuable bugs got away (including a couple of tarantulas that walked into the ocean). But it was enough to bump my bank account balance up to 46 million bells.

Your current balance is 46,000,000 bells.

With Rasher leaving and a big 330k payday, I’d say this was a very good day. 👍

Spork the Teacher?

It was raining when I started up the game tonight, and the first two villagers I spoke with (Tom and Wolfgang) really seemed annoyed by the weather.

Wolfgang: Oh, give me a break... Grrr. Look at this weather! Nothing puts me in a bad mood like a rainstorm!

Up at the Roost, I asked K.K. Slider for a random song; he played “To the Edge” for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: To the Edge.

I think I know why it’s called that. It’s boring and very repetitive, so it takes you to the edge of insanity.

When I visited Spork, I finally got to see the inside of his house now that he’s unpacked. His house looked like a classroom! Is he a teacher? And yet the flooring is a backyard lawn, so maybe it’s an outdoor classroom…indoors. 🤷 It’s a pretty cool house though, honestly.

Because of last week, I was really scared that Lucky was going to be packed up in boxes when I entered his house today. Fortunately, everything looked normal. However, nobody else mentioned moving out, so I’m still not 100% sure that he’s safe.

Peak bug season is here now (through the end of August), and I’m pretty excited about that. 🙂 I love summer night bug-catching sessions. Catching all these big, valuable bugs is just so satisfying to me.

As I started out the night, I had 45.5 million bells in the bank. My goal is to earn two million bells in two months, so I want to reach 47.5 million by the start of September. My bug hunt started out slowly, as I was mostly just finding semi-valuable bugs like dynastid beetles, saw stags, miyama stags, and emperor butterflies.

But the pickings seem to get better as the night went on. I ended up catching three rainbow stags, two scarab beetles, a giant beetle, an atlas beetle, a scorpion, an elephant beetle, and a goliath beetle.

I caught a rainbow stag! Someone tell me, already! Where's the rainbow?!

I made over 150,000 bells on the night in an hour-long session. But only 35-40 minutes of that hour was actively hunting. Not a bad start to the season. I’ll be doing lots more bug hunting this summer!

Good luck and happy hunting! 🐛🦋🐝🦟🐞

Too Country Guitar?

Tonight, Lucky told me he was thinking of moving out of town. What’s with all my dogs trying to leave me? I told him not to go, and he said he didn’t know if he could get out of it…but he’ll try asking if he can stay.

Lucky: Y'know, Chill J, I've been thinking of moving out of Forest. >Don't go!

It reminded me of what he said a couple months ago. So he may be safe, but I’m not 100% sure.

I went over to the Roost, but it was already after midnight, so I missed out on K.K.’s musical performance this week.

Gwen asked me to catch a firefly for her, and that’s one of the easiest tasks to complete. So I quickly snatched one up and took it over to her. She rewarded me with a classic wall.

Gwen: Oh, really and truly? It's the firefly I wanted!

I made a few trips on the beach, back and forth looking for valuable catches. But I didn’t see much, other than this shark.

That’s okay though, because prime bug-hunting season starts next week! 🙂

Wolfgang asked me for some musical furniture, and fortunately, Nook ‘n’ Go had a country guitar for sale. Wolfgang ultimately gave me 532 bells for it, which is less than the 680 bells I paid to buy it.

Wolfgang: Nothing... Nothing is too country guitar for me to get ahold of!
You’re using “country guitar” as an adjective?

Even though I completed a couple of villager requests tonight, there were two others I didn’t complete. Tom wanted some TV-tastic furniture (a TV, in other words), and Spork wanted me to fish his key out of the river. I was unable to find a TV for Tom, and unwilling to help Spork. 😛
