New Year’s Day 2022

Today is New Year’s Day, and my villagers all had dialogue related to the start of the new year. Eloise said that starting a new year is like pressing a restart button. I’m sure Resetti would strongly disagree with that outlook. 😉

Eloise: Starting a new year is like pressing a giant restart button! And we all deserve a fresh start, darling.

And Louie was looking forward to some new muscle soreness in the new year. Oof.

Louie: Feels weird saying this out loud, but I'm pretty psyched for this year's muscle soreness, oh banana!
It’s weird written in text, too.

K.K. Slider was in town, and he performed a song called K.K. Lovers for me and Apollo.

After the show, I flew out to Lottie’s island to do a little work. Claude was on the island, and he wanted a vacation home that was a “home game hideaway.” Or a home arcade, basically.

Claude: Home Game Hideaway

This time, I had the chance to decorate the outside of the house too. But I didn’t really do much; I added some trees and rocks, and that’s about it.

But indoors, I gave him a variety of arcade games, a gaming desk, a pinball machine, and three crane games all customized with a different theme. I used the club wall for the wallpaper, and some rubber-tile flooring.

I earned 6,000 Poki for the job, and I bought myself a small LED display for 3,800 Poki. It’s basically an animated sign board, so that’s pretty awesome. 🙂

I also unlocked the Happy Home Network app, which lets me review the houses I’ve designed so far. Except that Olivia’s house doesn’t have a screenshot associated with it, so I can only look at the one house I just made. 😂 The app is pretty useless at this point, but I’m sure that will change once I do some more work.

One last note about last night: I forgot to lead everyone to the area where I have a bunch of free recipes lying on the beach. Oops! Guess I’ll be leaving them there for a while until next time (whenever that may be).

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all have a great 2022! 🙂

New Year’s Eve Party

On Wednesday, Gulliver sent me a geisha wig in the mail, and Nook Inc. sent me a dumbbell (likely because I just used group stretching for the 20th time). Wisp was in town, and he gave me some vertical split curtains…which are actually hung from the ceiling.

After a trip to Kapp’n’s mysterious island yesterday, I sold a bunch of weeds that I collected. I’ve finally sold enough weeds to earn 3,000 Nook Miles for completing the “Greedy Weeder” achievement!

The Greedy Weeder achievement goals completed.

Today is New Year’s Eve, so I got dressed for the occasion and made the final preparations on my new decorations. I wrapped up eight works of art (after making sure they were all real), and laid them out as gifts for my visitors.

At 11:00, I opened my gate. Logan, Nami, Bran, and Megmeg came over. After giving them each a gift, I took them over to see my new 2022 area.

Sitting at my 2022 arch.

We then went inside my new castle. Although Bran and Megmeg soon discovered pits of despair in the castle. 😂

Inside my castle.

After visiting Sasha, we went over to the plaza. About ten minutes before midnight, Nami went afk to celebrate the new year irl. 😛 The rest of us enjoyed the countdown. Happy New Year!

Fireworks in the sky spell out 2022.
“LOLL”
(I don’t like the loops in the 2s, lol.)

Shortly after that, the revolving door started rolling around. 😂 Megan left, Nami disconnected, Bran left, Ellie came over, Locuras join in, Logan left, and Timo came over. 😛

Hanging out by the arch as fireworks explode above us.

Later on, Yann also joined in! After hanging out in the castle, we headed over to the campsite. Timo did some acrobatics (vaulting across the river) and then some dramatic poses with a crab, as the rest of us watched the show from benches. 😂

Timo shows off a spider crab up on...stage?

We eventually made our way to the Roost, where we had some late-night coffee.

Drinking some Roost as we enjoy our first coffee of 2022.

At about 1:30, I ended the session for the night. Thanks to everyone who came! It was fun! Happy New Year, everyone! 🎆

Update: Here is a video with highlights from tonight:

I also recently posted a video ranking my villagers in all eight of my Animal Crossing towns. So if you’re curious to see where Sasha ranks among my New Horizons islanders, you’ll find your answer here:

Brewstoid

On Sunday, Boomer the penguin was in town, camping at the campsite. I did not invite him to move in.

Boomer: I'm on a camping trip, trying to meet good food.

After having some coffee, I earned 3,000 Nook Miles for drinking my 50th cup.

A few other quick notes about Sunday:

  • I returned a lost item to Bones, and he rewarded me with a skateboarding helmet.
  • Agent S asked for a new catchphrase, and I told her to say “in 2022.”
  • Wisp was in town, and he gave me a cool low table.

Yesterday, Apollo was in the Roost enjoying some coffee. After I had my usual cup of joe, Brewster surprised me by giving me a brewstoid!

Brewster: A brewstoid... I'll put it in your pockets for you...

I didn’t even know these were in the game! I put it on display in my basement, along with the rest of my gyroids.

Eloise said that she heard I was looking for some tortoise specs. I wasn’t, but she gave them to me anyway.

Eloise: Oh, I should have known better. Little birds will tweet any ol' thing, right or wrong.
Sounds like she’s talking about Twitter.

Today, Gulliver was in town and I dug up his communicator parts for him.

While I was in my house, I realized I never checked my stocking after hanging it up on Christmas Eve. So I looked inside and found Jingle’s photo. (I got one last year, so I didn’t really need it, but I’ll take it.)

Jingle's photo was inside! How sneaky of Santa...

On Friday night, I plan on opening my gate to friends around 11:00 p.m. Eastern time. That’s an hour later than my usual Friday Night Forest time. I may have a new attraction that I haven’t mentioned in the blog, but it will not be a race or obstacle course.
