Peanut’s Photo

On Sunday, the fireworks festival was held. It was the 2nd one of the season, but the first one that I’ve participated in this year. Ankha was at the plaza (along with several other villagers), and she gave me a free sparkler, so that I could enjoy the lights in the sky and in front of me.

Ankha: Now you can enjoy sparkling lights in the sky about you AND right in front of you. Enjoy, I hate it!

Isabelle gave me a heart bopper, so I put it on and set off my sparkler. πŸŽ‡

After that, I sat and enjoyed the fireworks for a few minutes.

The next day, I spotted three paper kite butterflies all flying in the same area (all on-screen at once). That’s not something you see every day.

While I was chatting with Timmy in Nook’s Cranny, Peanut walked by and seemingly looked right at the camera. I think she saw me! πŸ˜›

Timmy: Jeff, welcome! ...welcome!

I had a camper at the campsite, and it was a villager that I was not familiar with. It was Petri the mouse!

Petri, at the campsite: Well, you're not a shy one, are you? My name's Petri. How kind of you to stop by.

Her glasses look like they’re all fogged up, and I don’t know how she can even see through them. Also, the insides of her ears are different colors! One is red and one is blue; they remind me of those old 3D glasses.

On Tuesday, I ran into Pascal while diving in the sea. He shared some wise words about wishing wells with me.

Pascal: If folks make wishes at wishing wells, are they only allowed well-wishing?

I spotted a banded dragonfly, and I began to chase it all over my island…but I was having trouble keeping up with it. I kept losing it, then finding it, then losing it again. It took me over seven minutes, but I eventually caught it!

Jeff after catching a banded dragonfly: I did it!

Usually when I have that much trouble with a banded dragonfly, I end up losing it for good. So I was fortunate to track it down this time. Flick was in town too, so I sold it, along with 19 other bugs from storage, to him for 109,350 bells.

Yesterday, Peanut asked if she could visit my house…and I said yes. I made the right choice, because shortly after arriving at my house, she gave me a gift she picked out for me: Her photo!! Thank you, Peanut!

Peanut: Peanut's photo! So YOU, right?
It’s so YOU, actually.

I was thrilled to get her photo! (She’s been in town about 3.5 months, if you’re keeping track.) I also won an emblem blazer in a game of “High Card, Low Card” with her. I kept speaking to her, but she didn’t want to leave…and I didn’t want to force her out after she just gave me her photo. So I basically just waited there for 15 minutes until she was ready to go. πŸ˜†

Once she was gone, I added her photo to my villager photo room (it’s my 25th picture). Her favorite quote on the back is “Never take a nibble when you can take a bite.”

Peanut's photo added to my collection of villager pics.

I now have all of my current villagers’ photos. So maybe it’s about time for a new villager.

Today, Katrina told me that my luck with money would improve…and it was true. I got 5,000 bells from the daily glowing spot (instead of 1,000), and the money rock’s 8 hits scored me 26,000 bells (instead of 16k or so).

Bones told me that he heard I got stung by a wasp yesterday. But he reminded me that a wasp sting isn’t as bad as a crocodile bite. Good point, Bones. 🐊

Bones: Man, wasp stings hurt, but not as much as crocodile bites. Life's all about perspective, at the Depot.

C.J. was in town, and I caught three big-time fish in a row to complete his seasports challenge. After selling those initial catches, I grabbed 23 fish from storage. I sold them for 278,625 bells. πŸ’°

See you next time! Never Stop Crossing!

Sparkler Season

Last Saturday, Sydney the koala was camping at the campsite. I’ ve had her in my GameCube town practically forever, but I don’t particularly feel the need to add her to my New Horizons island.

Sydney, at the campsite: All the fresh air and open sky here is waking my inner poet, sunshine.

However, I did opt to play a game with her…and I lost. No prize for me.

The next day, I visited June. She told me she was going to start charging me one bell to relax in her house! πŸ˜‰

June: Doesn't time spent relaxing at home fill you with joy? I'd love for you to relax here as well, for 1 bell.

At least it’s affordable. She only charges the bear minimum. 🐻

Forest’s birthday season kept rolling on, with Bones celebrating a birthday on Monday (August 4th). I gave him a smoker that I bought at the shop, and he seemed thrilled!

Bones, at his birthday party: Whoa! I-- You-- What?! A smoker?! Are you SURE I can have this?!

Bone appΓ©tit! Ketchup was also at the party and on the menu.

Over at the Resident Services plaza, I found June, Bob, and Louie setting off some sparklers. πŸŽ‡

I ran into Pascal on Tuesday, and he said you need to pick a direction to get ahead in life. Sometimes that’s the hardest part!

Pascal: If you wanna get ahead in life, you gotta pick a direction first, maaan!

After selling some stuff yesterday, my bank account balance reached a new milestone: 120 million bells.

Savings Balance: 120,000,000 bells.

My New Leaf savings balance is still larger (135 million), but New Horizons is slowly catching up. It’ll overtake New Leaf eventually, but it may take another year or more.

Tonight, K.K. Slider was in town and he performed “K.K. Aria” for me and Static.

Here are a few other quick notes about the past week in Forest:

  • Last Saturday, Gulliver sent me an alpinist hat.
  • K.K. performed “K.K. Sonata” for me, Bob, Louie, Static, and Agent S.
  • On Wednesday, I sold 32 bugs to Flick for 243,000 bells.
  • Yesterday, Gullivarrr sent me some pirate boots.

I posted my latest New Horizons Moments video earlier today, so I hope you’ll check it out.

Grandma’s Toilet

Monday (July 27th) was Ketchup’s birthday. I bought her a cube light from Nook’s Cranny, and then I customized it to be red. I wrapped it up, and gave it to her as her birthday present.

Ketchup: Whaaat?! You got me a cube light?!

She said she wasn’t expecting it, and she said she’d never forget it…but she never said she liked it. Oops. πŸ˜†

Louie was also at the party, and he said everyone was in party-flex mode. Whatever that means.

Louie: Today is Ketchup's big day, I'm cranky. Everyone's in party-flex mode!

Out in the rain, I had a chat with my buddy Bob. We were standing by a toilet, and Bob said he makes sure that no one sits there.

Bob: I always make sure nobody's sitting on that tankless toilet.

That’s because it’s reserved for his grandma! Why would he make his grandma sit on a toilet out in the open, possibly in the rain? πŸ˜†

Bob: I like to keep it empty so there's someplace for Grandma to sit if she comes to visit!

When I visited Peanut, she told me she invented a new type of D.I.Y. called ASTDIFM:

Peanut: I've invented a cool new kind of DIY called ASTDIFM. It means, Ask Someone To Do It For Me.

I thought she was about to ask me to do something for her, but she didn’t. I left her house quickly, before she could change her mind. πŸ˜›

During golden hour on Wednesday, Ankha asked me to catch a miyama stag for her. Fortunately, I already had one in my pockets. I handed it over, and she rewarded me with a snorkel mask. I actually decided to put it on, for no particular reason other than it seemed like a summery thing to wear. πŸ˜›

Ankha: You've more than earned this snorkel mask! It's the least I could do.
It really is.

Today, I saw a balloon present flying through the top of a bamboo tree. It was able to pass through as if the tree wasn’t really there.

I shot it down and found a zen light inside.
