Golden Rod

As expected, The Farway Museum sent me a letter in the mail, congratulating me on completing my fish encyclopedia. They attached the DIY recipe for the golden fishing rod.

Esteemed Jeff, Thank you for using the Critterpedia app. We congratulate you on completing every fish entry in the encyclopedia. To celebrate your achievement, we present you with a recipe for a golden rod. -The Farway Museum

I grabbed a gold nugget out of storage and crafted the golden rod.

The DIY recipe for a golden rod in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

That earned me a whopping 5,000 Nook Miles for crafting all six golden tools and completing the Golden Milestone goals.

Golden Milestone: All goals met.

Surprisingly, the golden rod recipe wasn’t the only golden DIY I received today. The message bottle had a recipe for some golden flooring, and Eloise gave me a recipe for a golden toilet. I didn’t need either of those, but I thought it was interesting to get three golden DIYs in one day.

I also had some mail from Jolly Redd. He sent me my warrior statue, which turned out to be a forgery (like I figured).

After selling the leftover fish in my pockets, I had enough money to bump my bank account balance up to 30 million bells.

Savings Balance: 30,000,000 bells.

K.K. Slider was at the event plaza tonight (on the correct day this week 😉), and I asked for a random song. He performed K.K. Disco for me, Marina, Apple, and Louie.

After the show, I found Joey the duck camping out at the campsite. I was not interested in adopting him, but I’m okay with him hanging out here.

Joey, at the campsite: It's a buncha fun camping on this island. The air smells good, like food. I wanna bite it, bleeeeeck!

I’ll see you all next time!

Yesterday, Gulliver sent me my latest reward (a turban) in the mail.

I went diving to meet a Nook Miles+ goal, and I caught an octopus… So I removed the birdhouse next to Marina’s house and put the octopus there instead. 🐙 😛

Today, I found a lost item (a book) on the ground. It’s a love story, and I suspected it belonged to a “normal” personality villager. But when I asked Marina about it, she said it belonged to Eloise instead…so it’s a snooty thing after all.

It's one of those love stories that are so popular nowadays. It has a subtle aroma too. Or is that my imagination?

I returned the book to Eloise, and she rewarded me with a tweed vest.

Jolly Redd was in town, so I checked out his selection of art for sale.

Leaving Jolly Redd's ship.

He had a real jolly painting, a fake serene painting, a perfect painting that looked real, and a warrior statue I wasn’t sure about. The warrior statue was the version that I’ve seen more often–so I think it’s most likely fake. But since I already have the two real paintings in the museum, I took a chance on the warrior statue anyway. And then I’ll know for sure which version is which.

I’ve spent hours searching for the golden trout over the past three days. And at 11:30 tonight, it finally paid off! I’ve now caught all the fish in the game, and my Critterpedia is complete! 😀

I've caught ALL of the fish! You'd think I'd have a pun for this occasion...

That earned me 3,000 Nook Miles for completing the Island Ichthyologist goals. I promptly donated the golden trout to the museum, and Blathers congratulated me on completing the fish section of the museum. Woohoo!

Blathers: Hoo WHAT?! You found the missing piece to the museum's fish puzzle, Jeff!

I believe I’ll be getting my golden rod recipe in the mail tomorrow, so I’ll be back with another entry then. Hope to see you then! 🙂

Mermaid Day?

On Sunday night, the final fireworks festival of the year was held. I attended briefly, stopping by to get my star bopper from Isabelle and a few more goodies from Redd.

Enjoying the final fireworks festival of 2021.

After being bumped from performing on Saturday and Sunday, K.K. Slider was finally in town for a rare Monday night show. This time, he performed K.K. Jongara for me, Agent S, and Hornsby.

Yesterday, Bones gave me a gift that reminded him of me: a peasant blouse! I guess he thinks of me as a peasant! 😮

Bones: A peasant blouse! I saw it and thought of you! I hope ya like it!

C.J. was in town, and he wanted me to catch three small-fry fish in a row for his seasports challenge. So I caught two crucian carp and a freshwater goby. I then sold C.J. a number of fish I had in my pockets for 13,000 bells, but I didn’t return home to get any more out of storage.

Today (Wednesday) is September 1st, and it marks the unofficial beginning of autumn. Acorns and pinecones will once again fall from trees that you shake. Also, the grape-harvest basket is again available through Nook Shopping.

Gulliver was in town, so I dug up the five pieces of his communicator for him. I also used the opportunity to dig up some clams for fish bait. The last fish I need, the golden trout, is now in season again, and it’s very rare. So I’ll need all the help I can get. 😛 I’ll be searching for it in the coming days (and weeks, if necessary).

I was a bit surprised to find a mermaid princess dress in the recycle box today. I don’t normally see Pascal items in here. I’m wondering if Midge recycled it before she left, because I did give her one in the past (and this is my first time checking the recycling since she moved out).

But that wasn’t the only mermaid-related curiosity: Both of today’s hot items at Nook’s Cranny were mermaid items!

Today's Hot Items: Mermaid table, Mermaid shelf.

Is it Mermaid Day or something? 😛

If you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to hunting for that elusive golden trout. See you all again soon! 🙂
