Long Time No See x 3

At 10:00 tonight, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. MaryAnn, better known as Yann, came over for her first visit in New Horizons! I played a lot of City Folk and New Leaf with her in the past, but I hadn’t played with her in any game since…2015?! So it was good to see her again!

I started giving Yann a tour of my island, and Sacky and Bran also came over.

Sacky, Jeff, MaryAnn, and Bran hang out near the UFOs.

Alex from Pawnee joined in, and we continued the tour. Once we got to the Mario course, we ran some races on it. Bran beat Yann in the first race, and then Bran left for the night. But Nami and Logan came over, and we continued the races. Alex beat Sacky, Logan finished ahead of Nami (but he cheated by not following the arrow at the turn 😂), and then Xavier came over.

We continued with the races: I beat Yann, and then Alex beat Xavier. We then played several “Hit the Hay” races and then I showed Yann my house. We hung out there for a while, and Logan left about 11:50.

Hanging out at my house.

Once we were done in my house, we went out and jumped around the ponds up on the cliffs…until Alex disconnected at 1 a.m. Normally, I would have ended the session around then. But this time, I knew that Megan was on her way! I hadn’t played with her since…Halloween?

With Yann and Megan in town, it felt like an ACCF reunion! I showed Meg the Mario and hay races, and then we played some sumo as well. Just like old times!

Yann wins a 4-player round of sumo.

About 2:15, it was time for yet another “long time no see,” as Tom41 showed up! I haven’t played with him since last year either. He also got to see the Mario race, but we ended up just acting silly, making puns, playing word games, and playing with fish, of course.

Tom left before long, but the rest of us continued being silly, talking about food and spicy sports, and reminiscing about old times in City Folk. Around 3:30, I ended the session for the night. Thanks to everyone who came, it was a lot of fun! 🙂

I’ll be back with another blog entry tomorrow. See you then, and have a great weekend!

Improv Partners

Tuesday, I received my latest reward from Gulliver in the mail. He sent me (another) kaffiyeh.

Apollo asked about moving to another town, but it’s waaaaaay too soon for him to be thinking about that. Maybe I should clip his wings.

Yesterday, Quillson the duck was camping at the campsite. Even though I like his green color, everything else about him gets a big no from me.

Quillson: Ahoy. Quillson is my name, and traveling, playing card games, and dance are my passions three.

C.J. was in town, and he said it was freestyle day regarding his seasports challenge: I just needed to catch five fish in a row to win. So I caught a tilapia, pale chub, sea horse, zebra turkeyfish, and a black bass to complete the challenge. After selling those fish to him for a fairly small amount, I went home to grab some fish out of storage. I sold him 20 valuable fish for a total of 267,450 bells.

C.J.: Oh, you got a whole school for me? All together that'll be... 267,450 bells. Deal?

Today, I listened in on a conversation between Apple and Louie. Apple was asking who the snazziest villager was…and Louie said he was. Annoyed, Apple asked who the cutest villager was. Again, Louie said that he was.

Louie, to Apple: That would be He with the Cuteus Maximus, Louie!

Apple got mad, and then Louie said that he was just giving Apple a lesson in improv. Apple said she was just pretending to be mad, but Louie didn’t believe her. Regardless, Apple vowed to find a better improv partner.

Apple: Ugh... I need to start picking better improv partners. Viva.

Flick was in town, so I grabbed some bugs out of storage for him. I sold him 16 bugs for a total of 84,000 bells.

Flick: Ahem. Can I offer you, say, 84,000 bells for the bunch of them?

As a reminder, I am hosting Friday Night Forest tomorrow. This will be the last time I’ll be running my Mario obstacle course. As usual, the blog entry will likely be posted very late (technically Saturday morning in most time zones).

Dipped in Gravy

Yesterday, Bones sent me a scented postcard in the mail. But it didn’t smell like flowers or fruit, it smelled like gravy! Bones dipped it in gravy and then licked it clean. That’s kind of gross, honestly. But I guess it is in-character for a dog!

Hiiii, burrito! Do you like hos this postcard smells? I dipped it in gravy, then licked the gravy off and sent it to you! Man, I love smells! -Bones

There are a couple of new seasonal items available now, a festival zongzi for the Dragon Boat Festival, and a surichwi tteok for the Dano Festival. You have until June 14th to order them.

Festival zongzi: 1,000 bells.

Bones was crafting, appropriately enough, a bone doorplate.

Bones: I'm making me a bone doorplate!
Yeah, but did you customize it by dipping it in gravy?

He acted surprised that I already knew how to make one, even though I’m the one who gave him the bone doorplate he’s already using on his door!

Today, I ran into Tybalt out on the dock. He offered to buy my garbage can for 312 bells, and I agreed to the deal.

Tybalt: I've been hunting high and low for a garbage can. No luck.

As you can see in that screenshot, Gulliver was washed up on the beach. I woke him up and retrieved the five pieces of his communicator for him. He’ll be sending me a reward in the mail tomorrow.

I did some fishing, and I caught several sharks today…even a flying one. 😉

A shark flies through the air as I reel it in.

Even though I don’t need the bells, it is satisfying to catch sharks and other valuable fish and bugs again.

Later on, I found Wisp floating around town. I gathered his spirits for him, and he gave me a black-crown wall…which doesn’t look as cool as it sounds.
