Lost in the Basement

Last night, I finished up my new basement. It’s based on the TV show “Lost.” If you’re not aware, it’s a mystery/fantasy (and later, sci-fi) show that ran from 2004-2010. It’s currently available to stream for free on IMDB (at least in the U.S.), and I recently binged the whole series. I loved the show (especially the first two seasons), so I decided to make it the theme of my basement.

To be specific, my basement is based on “the hatch,” which is essentially an underground bunker that was teased in Season 1, but fully revealed in the opening scene of Season 2. I used several patterns that I found in the custom design portal. The central feature is the computer, where occupants must enter 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42 every 108 minutes. 😛

My Lost (hatch) themed room in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today, I visited Bones and he told me that he’s starting to like the electric shocks he gets when he drags his feet on the carpet and then touches the doorknob. He’s kind of a weird dog, but that’s why I like him. 😛

Bones: BZZZZZZZZT! BZZZZZZZZT! That doorknob is the best.

Label was in town, and she wanted to see me in a theatrical outfit. I thought my pirate outfit would fit the bill, but Label thought I was trying to fool her by using a wand outfit! Why are wand outfits not acceptable???

Label: Oh, Jeff! You're wearing a wand outfit, aren't you? You can't fool me.
How would you know? And why would you care?

So I went back home and put together an alternate pirate outfit…although I had to borrow the pirate boots from my wand outfit. But once I did, Label loved the outfit! She gave me a Labelle skirt for my prize, and I decided to continue wearing my pirate getup.

Jeff the hairy pirate, and Label.

I later found a lost item near the river, and it was a picture book with candy crumbs inside. I figured it belonged to a lazy villager, so I asked Hornsby about it. It wasn’t his, but I was on the right track: It belonged to Bones. When I returned it, he rewarded me with a printed layered shirt.

Remember the waterfall structure I recently built near my “Welcome to Forest” sign at the previous site of my museum? I always intended for that to be temporary, and I actually demolished it today. I had an idea for a new structure to build. However, it seems that this location isn’t quite working out for what I have in mind. Everything I imagine always seem to require more space than I expect. 😂

So now I’m considering other locations for it. Don’t get too excited, it’s actually not a huge project…but it’s something I think will be cool. However, I may end up removing an existing attraction to make room for it. And that’s okay. I never consider my island to be “complete.” Most likely, I’ll be playing this game for many years to come..and changing things up from time to time will help to keep things fresh.

I hope to have the latest changes done later in the week.

Intense Concert

Yesterday, Eloise pinged me and accused me of eating her shortbread! But I didn’t even eat much. 😛

Eloise: You ate my shortbread, didn't you? I won't be angry, just tell me the truth!

However, she was just joking with me. She was actually demonstrating the “intense” reaction, which she then taught me.

I learned the intense reaction! Check out this steely gaze...

I had been thinking I only needed two of the snooty reactions, but apparently, I was wrong about that. Because Eloise has already taught me two of them, and I still haven’t learned “love” yet.

Today, I visited Hornsby, and he was talking about how much he has in common with his pet carp. 😛

Hornsby: We both have eyes. We both live in this house. And get this! We both beg for food when we're hungry.

He even said it was like he found his long-lost brother!

Hornsby: I feel so lucky! It's like I found my long-lost brother, schnozzle!

At the plaza, there was a scorpion just to the left of K.K.’s performance area. I got my net out, lured it close, and then talked to K.K. After K.K. was done, I quickly sat down on the right side. The song started (K.K. Faire, which is one of my favorites), and the scorpion ran in circles behind Tia’s chair!

K.K.: Right on. I'm tuned up and ready to roll. Who's in the mood for a little K.K. Faire?

As the song started, the “lights” went out and I couldn’t tell if it the scorpion was still there or not. But after the song ended, I saw it was still there! Tia also noticed it, and she nervously watched it go around.

Apparently the chairs prevented it from reaching us, and prevented me from catching it with my net. But once I left the safe zone (with my net out), the scorpion quickly attacked. Even though I passed out, it was fun just to mess around and experience that. 😛

Jeff passes out after being attacked by a scorpion.

CONCERT REVIEW:

  • Pros: A naked dog sang K.K. Faire (one of my favorites).
  • Cons: I died.
  • Rating: 8/10. Would die again.

I started redecorating my house a bit. I cleaned out the room on the left, and then started placing some items for my new themed room. But I soon came to the realization that I needed more space. So I decided to put this stuff in the basement instead. And being underground works out well for the theme I have planned, too.

So the mermaid furniture, which had been in my basement, is now in storage. My new basement is still waiting on some more items I ordered, but I’ll probably reveal it soon. However, the theme is very specific and obscure, so it’s very unlikely that any of you will guess what it is. 😛 But I will give you a hint: It’s based on a TV show that’s been off the air for over 10 years…but one that I just recently binged.

As for the room on the left, it’s currently empty. But I think I’ll put some Mario furniture in there soon.

I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend. The next Wi-Fi Moments video is coming very soon! 🙂

Golden Shovel

Gulliver sent me a letter thanking me for all the help I’ve given him. Instead of a hat or furniture item, he sent me a DIY recipe for the golden shovel! Yes! I’ve been waiting for this!

Gulliver's golden shovel DIY letter.

It requires a shovel and one gold nugget. So I grabbed some gold out of storage and made my first golden shovel.

Golden shovel DIY recipe: 1 gold nugget, 1 shovel.

I earned 1,000 Nook Miles for making it. I’ve now made three of the six golden tools in the game…and this is the first new one I’ve made in 11 months!

Golden Milestone. Golden watering can: 6/26/20. Golden slingshot: 6/17/20. Golden shovel: 5/13/21.

It’s kind of funny that it takes so long to get it, when it was the quickest and easiest golden tool to earn in the older games. 😛

C.J. was in town, and he had a freestyle challenge for me; I just had to catch five fish in a row without letting any get away. I quickly completed the challenge and sold the five fish for 3,500 bells. But later, I got 11 fish out of storage and sold them for 97,500 bells.

C.J.: Oh, you got a whole school for me? All together that'll be... 97,500 bells. Deal?

Bones was talking about how good it smells inside Nook’s Cranny. Sorry dawg, but I’m not about to go sticking my nose in Nook’s Cranny. 😛

Bones: Seriously. You GOTTA go check out that smell.

Eloise was wearing sunglasses tonight, and I thought they looked very odd. Not just because it was dark out, but because her eyes are on the side of her head…so the glasses don’t line up with her eyes at all!

Eloise: I must be dreaming. This can't be a cushion!

See you all next time. Never Stop Crossing!
