Scalloped Potatoes

On Monday, I listened in on a conversation between Merengue and Louie. Merengue was looking for cooking ideas, but she said Louie’s ideas were dull. (He was just suggesting protein shakes, basically.) So I suggested scalloped potatoes…and it’s making me hungry just thinking about them! 😋

Merengue: Scalloped potatoes are the best! Piping hot, covered in melty cheese... Mmmm, a berry!

Lately, I’ve been having trouble doing the hot tub/fountain glitch in this particular spot. It used to be very easy to do it here, and now I can’t do it at all!

The fountain spot.

So I’m wondering if they changed something. But at the same time, I know they haven’t patched the glitch completely, because I can still glitch into my glowing-moss pond in a different location. 🤷

I can still glitch into this.

On Thursday, Michael Jackson was camping at the campsite. Oops, I mean Olaf. This is his 2nd time camping here, and I was (still) not interested in asking the smooth criminal to move in.

Olaf: Heya! Are you from around here? I'm kinda on vacation, just relaxing and focus-grouping a few things.

I was in the Roost yesterday, and I was taking some photos from unique angles. I love how detailed the Roost is! I think this photo is my favorite.

A unique angle of the Roost.

Tonight, Ketchup joined me for K.K. Slider’s concert. I asked the singing dog for a random song, and he performed “K.K. Calypso” for us.

K.K. Slider performs for Ketchup and Jeff.

Here are a few other quick notes about this week:

  • Last Sunday, K.K. performed “Space K.K.” for me and Rio. Far out, man.
  • I’ve recently bred my first black tulips, so I’m saving them up for a D.I.Y. recipe I’ve never been able to craft.
  • I helped Gulliver on Thursday, and he sent me a milkmaid hat yesterday.
  • I haven’t been trying to make many snowboys this winter, but I did make a perfect one today. He’ll send me a gift in the mail.

See you all next time!

No Words

On Tuesday, Bob was telling me that he always falls asleep when he’s listening to music on his stereo. So because of that, he said he doesn’t know the words to any of K.K.’s songs.

Bob: That's why I don't know the words to any of K.K.'s songs, even though I listen to 'em all the time!

But…do they even have words??? I have no words. 😛

If you’re wondering why I was dressed as a hot dog, it’s because I was making a short silly video of me dancing. In a hot dog suit. 😛 It uses an Awolnation song, so I won’t be posting it to Youtube (at least not in this form).

On Thursday, Rodney was again camping at the campsite. That was his third time camping here in Forest!

Rodney, at the campsite: Ahoy. Rodney is my name, and traveling, singing very loudly, and dance are my passions three.

Yeah, you look like a real passionate person, Rodney. 😆

The January fishing tournament was held today, and I decided to participate in one run. I ended up catching seven fish in the three-minute span, and two of the fish were red snappers.

I caught a red snapper! Gotta keep this up!

The seven fish earned me a total of 9 points, and C.J. paid me 10,950 bells for my fish. I forgot to check if I had enough points for a prize, but that’s okay. They’ll carry over to next time. Not to mention, I’m sure I’ve received all the rewards before anyway.

As most of my villagers were fishing, I spotted a Rajah Brooke birdwing. Honestly, it feels a bit weird that such a big, fairly valuable butterfly is still available in the middle of winter. When I caught it, you could see Bob and Ankha concentrating on their fishing in the background. 😛

I caught a Rajah Brooke's birdwing! Nothing else I'd rajah be doing!

They weren’t having much luck catching any fish, as you might imagine.

Ankha: I'm not having much luck today, in my tomb! Where ARE all the fishies?

Because of the tournament, K.K. Slider did not visit for his usual Saturday night show.

Sunset on Bob’s Birthday

On Sunday, I built another perfect snowman and he sent me a snowperson head in the mail the next day. I decided to put it on, and I paired it with a snowflake sweater.

Tuesday was New Year’s Eve, and I found Isabelle and Tom Nook hanging out in the plaza. (Resident Services was closed for the day.)

Jeff stands between Isabelle and Tom Nook, as the countdown timer to the new year showed 4:44:44.

Isabelle gave me a light stick, and Tom Nook gave me some party poppers.

About 4 hours and 44 minutes later, I returned to watch the final countdown. Happy 2025!! 🥳

The fireworks read 2025 as Forest welcomes in the new year.

You may have noticed a balloon present in that last screenshot. I crossed the river and shot it down, only to find a globe inside.

Wednesday was New Year’s Day, of course, but it was also Bob’s birthday! I went over to his house for his party, and Merengue was also there. I gave Bob a raccoon figurine for his birthday gift…even though I forgot to wrap it.

Bob, at his birthday party: Oh wow, like... Whaa?! This is a raccoon figurine, right?!
Yes, and it’s already looking to collect on your mortgage payments. 😉

Later on, I spotted a beautiful sunset that I couldn’t resist staring at.

A beautiful sunset seen from the museum on the cliff.

It must’ve been so beautiful that it disoriented C.J.; I found him standing up on this tiny waterfall cliff near Peach Park. 😆

C.J. stands in an odd place, on a tiny cliff.

Tonight, I headed over to the plaza for K.K. Slider’s Saturday night show. I told him I was feeling blue, and he performed K.K. Dirge for me and Ankha.

K.K.: Feeling downbeat, huh? Well, let me lay that beat down, K.K. Dirge style.

Here are a few other quick notes about this week:

  • On Sunday, Wisp gave me a porcelain vase. Louie immediately asked to buy it for 1,975 bells, and I agreed.
  • I helped Gullivarrr Monday, and he sent me a pirate-treasure chest the next day.
  • Yesterday, I returned a lost book to Agent S. She rewarded me with a conductor’s cap.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone!
