Day 20: Stonehenge

Gulliver sent me a Stonehenge in the mail today. It’s amazing how he was able to attach it to a postcard! Also, Alex sent me a seven-ball tee. Thanks, Alex!

When I visited Louie, he taught me the DIY recipe for an iron frame! Perfect for a construction site…you know, like in Donkey Kong?

Louie: So whaddaya say? You wanna get built making yourself an iron frame?

At Able Sisters, I spoke with Mabel and I noticed that it blurred out the background, including Sable! I guess that’s to put the focus on Mabel, but why would that be necessary? Let us look at Sable if we want to! 😛

Mabel: Hey there! Welcome to Able Sisters, where we sell fashions made lovingly by claw.

One other thing I noticed is that if you dig something up with full pockets, and you’re a couple spaces from water, you can release a fish into the water! I’m pretty sure previous games didn’t let you do this when digging something up. But it’s very convenient!

Outside of town hall tonight, Midge was doing some stretches, and Shari appeared to be doing yoga poses!

Merka came over just to buy some flower seeds. As she was in the store, I buried a pitfall seed just outside the door and got my camera app out to zoom in. Unfortunately, I couldn’t bury it close enough that she would automatically fall into it. So when she came out, she saw it. I had to run out from my hiding spot and push her in. 😛

After she left, I realized I hadn’t visited Keaton yet. So I went up to his house, and I saw that he has three of these cool race-car beds in his house! They even honk when you lie down in them!

Keaton: The point is, you need a bed that works for all kinda, like my throwback race-car bed!

But never mind the cars, let’s talk about the henge. While up on the cliff, I looked for a good place to put my Stonehenge. The top level of town doesn’t have a lot of room (especially with Keaton’s house there), but I put it on the lower-level cliff.

I like the spot, but it may not be perfect. But that’s okay, because it’s basically furniture and can be moved easily if needed.

Wisp was in town, so I collected his spirits for him. For my reward, I asked for something new instead of something expensive. So he gave me some faux-fur ankle booties. Well, that’s certainly something new.

Wisp: Here, have... some faux-fur ankle booties!

Have a good night, and may your booties be furry. Wait, scratch that last part. 😛

Day 19: Able Sisters

Today was the grand opening of Able Sisters! I went to check it out, and I appreciate the shop’s new layout (at last). 😉

Inside Able Sisters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I really like the fitting room, where you can see how various items look on you. I just don’t know why my character has to do ridiculous poses every time I try something on. 😛

Jeff poses as he tries on clothing in the fitting room at Able Sisters in ACNH.

They didn’t have anything I wanted to buy today, but I’ll have to keep checking every day!

After grabbing some materials out of storage, I finally crafted a fountain for my town! I placed it a bit in front of town hall, which is also just a bit behind my house. It looks nice, but I’ll want to plant some flowers around it at some point.

I also rearranged my yard a bit. I moved some trees around, made my fenced-off area a bit bigger, and arranged some of the red roses I have planted (which I bought from the shop in Merka’s town).

After that, I went to meet my newest neighbor, Tia. I’m glad to have her around, and she is now my 2nd favorite villager (behind Agent S).

Tia: I'm so glad we met on that island. And that I'm all moved in here now.

However, I’m starting to regret putting her house where it is. I envisioned using the west edge of my town for an obstacle course at some point, but that didn’t cross my mind at the time I chose the spot for her house. Of course, I know it can be moved. But I don’t want to move her house right away when she just moved in. 😛

Gulliver was washed up on the beach again, and he made a reference to his spaceship-piloting days in Wild World and City Folk. He said “Don’t make me go back to space!” 😀 I appreciated the reference. 🛸

Gulliver: NO! Don't make me go back to space! It's cold and dark and--huh?

Tonight, it appeared that both Louie and Marcel were holding purses near town hall! Well, I guess Louie’s might have been a tote bag or shopping bag, but Marcel’s definitely looked like a purse.

Louie and Marcel appear to hold purses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Inside town hall, Isabelle informed me that my island rating was up to two stars. That’s still not very good, but it’s a step up from yesterday. I’ll take it! She said I need to add more appealing scenery, and she mentioned that I could use more fencing in particular.

When I ran into Louie, he taught me the “shocked” reaction! Yes! This is one of the best ones to have. I replaced “surprise” with “shocked” on my emotion wheel, since they’re similar (but “shocked” is superior).

I learned the shocked reaction! Whaaaa?!

I collected Gulliver’s communicator parts and returned them to him. He will be sending me a gift in the mail.

Rizzo was hiding in his house today, so I was unable to use any more pitfalls on him. But he hasn’t seen the last of me! 😉

Just a note: I do not plan on having a Friday Night Forest this week. It will probably return next week. Have a great day, everyone!

Update: I forgot to mention this when I first posted the entry, but I noticed that more cherry blossom petals were falling as of today. Many of them are just for decoration and can’t be caught (much like the ones in earlier games), but it does make things look prettier around town! 🌸

Day 18: Meeting C.J.

Next to the campsite today, I ran into C.J. for the first time!

C.J.: What up, fishionista! C.J. here, comin' at you live from, uh... r-right in front of you! Nyuk!

He says he’s touring islands to find fresh faces and fresh fish to show off on his livestream. He pays premium prices for fish, but he also issued me a challenge: He told me to catch three “big-time” fish in a row…so I did. I caught three sea bass in a row. 😛

That's 3 big-time fish! Which means...you just completed the challenge! Go tell C.J.!

When I returned to him, he offered to buy the fish. I gave him the three sea bass, and also a dace I had in my pockets, and he gave me 2,160 bells. Not bad. He also said if I wanted a realistic collectible model of a fish, I should bring him three of the same kind of fish. Interesting offer, but I didn’t take the bait this time.

I visited Marcel, and he told me he can’t wait for Bunny Day to get here, because he loves the candy eggs. I want it to arrive quickly, too…but for different reasons. I’m tired of the eggs everywhere, the constant balloon presents flying overhead, the seemingly endless number of Bunny Day recipes I’m supposed to craft, and the fact that this event drags on for 12 long days.

Marcel: Bunny Day is all about candy eggs, which makes it the best. Come on, April 12th! Get here faster!

The Bunny Day event was introduced in City Folk, and I liked the event back then. But each subsequent game has made it more and more tedious, and the New Horizons version of Bunny Day is the worst yet, by a wide margin.

Able Sisters is under construction, so it’s not opened yet.

After collecting bells from today’s money rock, I noticed something about bells stacking. If you have over 99,999 bells, the bell bags you collect will not stack. So you won’t have one bag of 16k, you’ll still have each individual bag in your pockets.

Various bell bags in my pockets.

So right after this, I went and made a 100,000 bell payment on my house, just to make some breathing room.

Louie was crafting some jungle flooring, which seemed perfect for Donkey Kong. He shared the recipe with me, so I crafted it and gave it to him! However, he didn’t install it in his house, so I was a bit disappointed.

One of the new Bunny Day recipes I got today was for a Bunny Day wardrobe. I made it, put it in my house, and used it. That unlocked the ability to edit my wand outfits. However, since I don’t have much in the way of clothing or outfits yet, I didn’t set anything up just yet.

Since my newest resident Rizzo was outdoors, I tested out some pitfall seeds by pitfalling him twice. 😀 Even though Shari and Marcel are ugly, they haven’t really felt like true villains. But I think Rizzo falls into that role quite nicely.

Shari didn’t even stop singing as Rizzo fell in.

I decided to finally use my Nook Miles Ticket to fly to another mystery island. I found quite a few iron nuggets from the rocks here, but I also found something even better: Tia!

Tia: I'm glad you stopped to talk to me. One thing I love about traveling is the chance to make new friends.

I had her in my New Leaf town back in 2014, when I was lucky enough to get her from a StreetPass tag! She’s a cute teapot (and elephant) and she looks better than ever in New Horizons. She should be moving in tomorrow. 🙂

I’ll back with another entry tomorrow. And if all goes well, I’ll try to post Wi-Fi Moments #2 tomorrow as well. See you then!
