Colorful Arches

On Sunday, I got (perhaps?) my first look at Shino the deer over at the campsite. She looks pretty cool, but I did not invite her to town.

Shino: It's kind of random that I came over to Forest, but I'm way glad I did! This place is the bomb!

Beardo was in town again as a tourist, but without a place to stay. So of course, I…gave him a VIP room at the hotel? Yes! But I made it special, just for him. 😉 First, I gave him some colorful Lego flooring and a couple of Lego items…in the hopes that he’ll step on some Lego blocks in the night. I also gave him the most uncomfortable bed I could find, a cardboard bed. He’s just sleeping on boxes. And I put up some dungeon wallpaper so he can enjoy the view.

The VIP room for Beardo.
Unpleasant dreams, Beardo!

But Beardo wasn’t the only unwanted creature around on Sunday. The infamous Zipper T. Bunny was also in town! 😱 He reminded me about the eggs that have infiltrated every aspect of life in the game this week. You can’t escape them, no matter what!

Zipper: Zippity zap, enough of that.
Enough of that, indeed.

April arrived yesterday, and that meant that cherry-blossom petals are now floating around. You can catch them with your net and use them for crafting. And of course, you’ll also find pink trees around town. Very pretty! 🌸

Several pink trees surround Able Sisters in Forest.

Today, I shot down a blue balloon present and I was quite surprised to find a D.I.Y. recipe that I didn’t have yet! It was for a cherry-blossom wand!

SWEET! I learned a DIY recipe for a cherry-blossom wand!

I thought the cherry-blossom recipe I got last year was probably my last one, but I was wrong. Now is this the last one? I never counted all my recipes, so I’m not sure. But…maybe?

In the eastern part of town (near Agent S’s house), I finally made some minor changes to an area that has been left mostly empty for a long time. First, I put in a pond, similar to (but not identical to) one that was an original feature of Forest.

My new eastern pond in Forest.

And just a bit north of that, I put in some colorful-lantern arches. Some of you may remember I once used other arches in this spot years ago.

My colorful arches.

It’s pretty cool to run through them, especially in first-person view. But instead of a sumo ring at the end, it ends at the Game Boy face-cutout standee.

Bunny Day (aka Easter) is coming up on Sunday. If you’ll be participating, check out my Bunny Day Guide for a refresher on how it all works! Note: I also have Bunny Day Guides for City Folk and New Leaf if you’re playing those games as well.

I’ll be back with another entry next week. Have a Happy Easter if you celebrate! 🐰

Customization Bonus

Last Friday, I got to see inside of Savannah’s house now that she’s all unpacked. She has a lot of rattan furniture that has been customized to be white.

The inside of Savannah's house.

A super cute Purrl was camping at the campsite. I like her, but I wasn’t interested in kicking anyone out for her right now. Especially since I just got a new villager last week.

Purrl, at the campsite: Ah, do you live here? I'm Purrl. A pleasure.

The next day, I ran into Pascal when diving. He told me that everybody is hosting their own reality show. That seems about right these days.

Pascal: You might be the star of your own life, but everybody's hosting their own reality show, maaan.

He then gave me two pearls for the scallop I caught.

On Sunday, I happened to give Kapp’n a customized item. It was a fishing rod; Instead of giving him the new one I crafted, I gave him my old one instead. 😛 But he seemed to appreciate the fact that it had been customized, so he gave me two extra hotel tickets.

Kapp'n: What ye just put in the box, it's customized, yar? Ar har har! Now that be a classy move!
Kapp'n: This be just a little somethin', but I want ye to have 2 tickets. They're fer use at the hotel.

Another of my favorite villagers was in town as a tourist on Tuesday night. It was Butch the dog!

Tourist: Hey! You from here? I'm a solo traveler, just seein' where life takes me. Name's Butch.

I probably need to change the outfits on display at the hotel. The hot dog and frog outfits don’t always look good on tourists. 😆

Thursday was Louie’s birthday, so of course I attended his party. I gave him a zen lowboard for his gift, and he seemed impressed!

Louie: Oh! Oh, wow. Did you really... A zen lowboard!

Merengue was also there to help Louie celebrate. Happy birthday, Louie!

Yesterday, another of my favorite Animal Crossing dogs was visiting Forest: Biskit! Sadly, I just lost Biskit from my ACCF town earlier this month. But it’s great to see him again here! Such a good doggo!

Biskit: It's nice to meet ya. I'm hunkering down on this island in full vacation mode!

Tonight, I attended K.K. Slider’s Saturday night concert. He performed “K.K. Chorale” for me and Peanut. 🙂

Here are a few other quick notes about the past week or so:

  • Last Friday, I returned a lost shopping bag to Bones. He thanked me by giving me a work shirt.
  • I helped out Gulliver, and he sent me a coin headpiece last Saturday.
  • Flick was in town on Monday, and I sold him 16 bugs for 79,500 bells.
  • I helped out Gullivarrr on Tuesday, and he sent me a pirate-treasure chest.
  • On Wednesday, I sold 21 fish (mostly oarfish and sturgeon) to C.J. for 250k.

New Villager Hunt

On Sunday, I saw another of my favorite villagers in town as a tourist: Kiki! She was my Wild World bestie for a long time, and it was great to see her in this game too!

Tourist: You're from Forest, right? I'm here on a trip. My name's Kiki.

Over at the campsite, I found Jacques the bird camping. He seems nice, but I didn’t particularly want him to move in.

Jacques: Ahoy. Jacques is my name, and traveling, practicing kung fu, and dance are my passions three.

On Monday, Agent S had an amusing bit of dialogue about seeing a grasshopper with a beard! Pretty funny! 😆

Agent S: One time I saw a grasshopper just over there. He had a beard! And he winked at me! I fainted. On the spot.

When I ran into Ankha, she had a surprise for me: She said she has decided to move out!

Ankha: Ideally you'd be sitting down for this, but...I've decided that I'm going to be moving away!

She has lived in Forest for three years, and seeing some of these other great villagers as tourists had strengthened my resolve to not let Forest get too stagnant. So I didn’t try to stop her.

On Tuesday, I visited Ankha for the last time to say goodbye. Good luck on your new adventures, Ankha!

Ankha: Oh, it's you! I'm so glad you decided to come see me before I head out tomorrow.

I’ll still see her on my GameCube island occasionally, so the goodbye certainly isn’t forever.

After completing some daily Nook Miles+ goals, my balance hit a cool number: 5,555,550 miles. Too bad the last digit can’t be a five as well. 😛

Nook Miles counter: 5,555,550.

Yesterday, it was initially raining when I first started up the game. I caught an oarfish and a coelacanth back-to-back! 😁 Makes you wish the fishing was always that good.

It was weird to see an empty plot where Ankha’s house has sat for three years. Before that, Hornsby lived there for three years as well (and Marcel lived there before him, but just briefly).

The empty plot where Ankha lived.

It was March 18th, so it was a day late for St. Patrick’s Day…but I saw Lyman in town as a tourist! ☘️ And there was actually another green tourist right behind him, Henry the frog. (This was after the rain cleared up in the afternoon.)

Tourist: Yo! You one of the locals here? Cool! I'm Lyman. Just on a bit of a vacation, y'know?

Once I was done making my rounds, I grabbed five Nook Miles Tickets and started hunting for a new villager! On the very first island, I found Aurora the penguin! I like her a lot, and she has lived in my New Leaf town since Day 1.

Aurora: Well, hello there! My name's Aurora. You're Jeff?

I was definitely tempted to take her, but I ultimately decided not to. If she had been on my 4th or 5th NMT island instead of my first, I probably would’ve invited her to Forest. But I at least wanted to take a chance to find one of my very top favorites, particularly one that I don’t already have in another town.

I then destroyed everything in sight and robbed the island of all its natural resources. 😆 (Crafting those DIY goods for Kapp’n has depleted my supply of wood and weeds.)

When I was done, I headed off to the next island. Axel the elephant was there, and he would make a good villager too. But I didn’t invite him to Forest either, and I’m glad I didn’t. Because on the third island, I was digging up a fossil when I spotted some striped legs. I knew exactly whose legs they were, and I was ecstatic! It was Savannah the zebra, and I immediately invited her to Forest! 😃

Savannah: Oh, this is all so exciting! I can't wait to start packing up for my big move after this tour.

Savannah is one of my all-time favorites, and she is one that I rarely seem to have in any of my towns! I had just seen Savannah as a tourist last week, and I even commented how I hoped she would show up as a camper. But this is even better, since I don’t have to kick anyone out to get her!

One other note: She did not remember me from last week’s visit to Forest. For some reason, tourists retain memories, but animals on mystery islands don’t.

Today, I went over to see my new neighbor. The first thing I noticed is how nice her house looks on the outside! It’s so cute!

The outside of Savannah's new house.

I went inside to say hello. I’m so happy to have her! Welcome to Forest, Savannah!

Savannah: As of today, I can start saying that I'm from Forest too.

The only “bad” thing is that I’ll have to (eventually) decide if she has overtaken June as my favorite villager in town. It may be a tough decision, but I’ll see how things go in the coming days. 🙂

Merengue’s birthday was today, so I also made sure to attend her party. I gave her a cherry pie that I made for her. Static was also at the party to help her celebrate. Happy birthday, Merengue!

Merengue: Ooh, look at that! It's some cherry pie!

On Tuesday, I posted my latest New Horizons Moments video. Please give it a watch if you haven’t seen it yet!

See you all next time!
