Jellyfish Season

As I started up the game tonight, I immediately noticed that my house was larger. A room on the right has been added.

My newly expanded house.I caught a fish from the ocean, and I was a bit surprised to find that it was a jellyfish! Even though I knew from other Animal Crossing games that jellyfish show up in the second half of August, I had forgotten about them. Until I caught this little guy, of course.

I caught a jellyfish! I'm in some kind of jam!If you need to catch a jellyfish in any of the first three Animal Crossing games, be sure to do it before the end of the month. (Jellyfish can’t be caught in New Leaf).

When I went into Nookington’s, Tom Nook talked about my latest house expansion. He said it was wondrous…and then he said I owe him 848,000 bells. Ouch.

Tom Nook: 848,000 bells, please! The third fireworks festival of the year was going on tonight, and Tortimer gave me a roman candle. Meanwhile, Hopper seemed a bit scared by the fireworks.

Hopper: AGGGGGHHHHH! RUN AWAY!!! It's raining embers, slushie!!!There was a new “Talking to Myself” post on the bulletin board, and it was about salsa, of all things.

-Talking to Myself- How can salsa be a kind of dance, a kind of music, AND a kind of dip? It's the miracle word!Puddles was packed up and ready to move out of town. But despite talking to her many times, I was having trouble getting a response from her that sounded like she would stay. But I did get her to say this…

Puddles: Oh, what should I do? Should I change my mind, rib-ribbit?I wasn’t sure that would save her…until I looked at my previous pictures I’ve saved. Apparently she’s said the same thing twice before, so I think she’s probably safe now.

I then went to the museum to donate my jellyfish, and I also headed downstairs for some music. K.K. Slider performed Soulful K.K. for me, which starts out just like “Lean on Me.”

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Soulful K.K.!Over by town hall, Baabara showed me another strange letter she received. I want to meet whoever is trolling Baabara with these letters. 😀

Hey! I am cute. Reply by tomorrow!I found today’s money rock, caught some yummy valuable summer bugs (including a scorpion), and then made a 40,000 bell mortgage payment before wrapping up my night.

By the way, if you haven’t yet seen Episode 9 of my ACWW series on Youtube, here it is. I forgot to embed it in the last blog entry (or two). 😛

Rod’s Birthday

When I visited Kiki tonight, she told me she put a ton of fish tanks in her room.

Kiki: I put a ton of fish tanks in my room! She believes that her room finally looks like a professional aquarium.

Kiki: I think it finally looks like a professional aquarium! So I took a step back to look at her huge collection of fish…

Kiki's furniture includes one eel tank.Um, Kiki? You have one eel.

Today is Rod’s birthday, so I had him in mind when I went shopping. I nearly bought a toilet for him at Nookington’s, but then I decided to be nice and buy him a jack-in-the-box instead. Even though it was 4,124 bells.

Tommy: Ah, yes, yes. That's the jack-in-the-box. Very nice... very nice.I wasn’t sure if Rod would like it, but I went over to his house and gave it a shot.

Rod: Whoa! Champ! You came, in my ears!
Well, it *is* your birthday.

He seemed to like it quite a bit. He even called it a killer gift and thanked me by giving me a cabin wall.

Rod: Thanks a ton, champ! Killer gift, in my ears!Baabara was also there to help Rod celebrate. I bet Rod’s birthday wish is that Baabara would just leave. 😛

Baabara: You're here to celebrate Rod's birthday? You're nicer than I thought!A new message of the week was posted on the bulletin board, and it’s an odd one.

*Message of the Week* Fate has a fickle finger. I have a pickle finger.
Seriously, though. What’s the dill?

I found another note in a bottle on the beach, and it contained a horoscope. Apparently, the stars say I’m going to be a tree shaker. I think they’re barking up the wrong tree.

Daily Horoscope: The new moon in Pisces will compel you to run around and shake every tree you come across. -Astrocon IndustriesI went over to town hall and paid off the remaining 20,000 bells on my mortgage.

My home loan is ALL paid off!Tom Nook confirmed that he will expand my house tomorrow morning. I chose sky blue as my roof color this time.

And last but not least, I found Pascal on the beach. I spoke with him, and he gave me a ship cannon…and some words of wisdom.

Pascal: You're not a wave, maaann, you're just part of the ocean.

He then jumped into the ocean and swam away. Sea you later!

Fireworks Fortune

As I started up the game this afternoon, Lyle was bugging me to fill out another questionnaire. I was not interested, so I told him I was busy and went on my way.

So I headed over to Nookington’s to sell everything in my pockets from last time. I then noticed that Tom Nook had some new dialogue for me. He said even though he was born in Forest, he spent part of his life in the big city. While there, he had to endure some hardships that he hasn’t spoken of before.

Tom Nook: Indeed, I had to endure certain hardships that I've never spoken of, hm?But he didn’t want to go into any more detail just yet. Perhaps he’ll save that for a future discussion.

Tom Nook: For now, Jeff, maybe it's best that we forget we ever talked about this.Outside, Kiki was talking about the crawfish, and how it’s in season now. She even told me how to catch one.

Kiki: Trust me, just cast your rod into a pond during the day!I thought she was asking me for one, so I went and caught one. But when I returned to her, she wanted to race to see who could catch an eel first. Ugh, whatever. Well, Big Top was asking me for a crawfish, so I gave it to him. He gave me a ranch bed in return.

I still went on and caught an eel for Kiki. She gave me a brown drum for it.

I found a note in a bottle on the beach, which is the first one I’ve seen lately. Inside, I found a note from…my conscience? 😛

How's it going?! Right now, I'm far, far away. I hope this message reaches you safely. -Your ConscienceI caught a new bug today: the walker cicada!

I caught a walker cicada! These guys chirp funny! As I entered Static’s house, I spotted another bug I needed. It was an orchid mantis on a flower outside his house. Of course, it was gone by the time I came back outside, and I didn’t find another one today. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that in the future.

Rod was all packed up and ready to move out of town. I kept talking to him to tell him to stay, and eventually he said he lost his passport. That’s the same thing that Bill said to me last October, and he stayed, so I think Rod is safe for now.

Rod: I won't be able to move if I don't have my passport, in my ears!I’m not sure why, but Hopper told me I was snail-like.

Hopper: You're all slow and snaily, like a snail...and stuff.

I donated the walker cicada to the museum, sold some stuff, and then did some fishing and bug-hunting. I kept going until I had 100,000 bells to put towards my mortgage. After paying it, I now only owe 20,000 more bells! I should be able to do that next time.

Later on, I returned to the game to see a bit of the fireworks festival.

Fireworks in Animal Crossing: Wild World.I had a chat with Tortimer over by town hall, and he was acting a bit strange. 😛

Tortimer: Fireworks... Smelt... Power... Oh, hi. I was just making a list of things I like. After I got a roman candle and a sparkler from him, he offered to give me my fortune. I wasn’t expecting that. But I accepted it, and this is what it said:

Today's fortune: Giant Explosion. Head: Do as you like. Heart: It's in the air! Belly: It's all good! Fortune favors the brave. After setting off my roman candle, I made my way over to the Roost. There, K.K. Slider performed The K. Funk for me.
