Bright Nights 2026

I received Curt’s goodbye letter in the mail today, as expected. But on the way out, he called Forest a stink hole! Shots fired! And now I’m really glad he’s gone.

To Jeff, Finally! I picked up and left Forest! I was so tired of this stink hole! Anyway, come visit, OK? Don't cry. -Curt

Bright Nights week is here, so all of my villagers’ homes (and most of the cedar trees) are now decorated with festive lights. Filbert’s house had a decorated tree right next to it, which I always like to see when judging the homes.

Robin was still sick with a cold, so I gave her another dose of medicine. But despite her illness, she was somehow able to decorate her house quite nicely. That included a tree behind her house and one next to it.

Meanwhile, my outdoor villagers asked me to pick their houses and tell Tortimer about it.

Marina: If you liked my house, would you go let Tortimer know? I'd appreciate it.

But the indoor villagers don’t seem to mention it at all. That included Frobert, who had four decorated trees surrounding his house! I couldn’t fit them all on-screen at once, though.

To me, that was clearly the best in town. The lights were un-frog-gettable! So I went over to town hall to speak with Mayor Tortimer.

Tortimer: Brrrr-right! Cha-cha-cha! Brrrrr-right! Cha-cha-cha!

After telling him the lights in town were gorgeous, he asked me for my choice. The first page of options listed Truffles, Frobert, Marina, and Robin. I accidentally chose “Someone else,” which took me to the next page of the list. However, something apparently went wrong, because it again listed Truffles, Frobert, Marina, and Robin (instead of the other four villagers)! But I went on and selected Frobert to make him the official winner.

Tortimer: So, Frobert, you say? I'd better keep an eye on that one.

I went back to Frobert’s house to tell him the news, but he again made no mention of Bright Nights at all! Does he even know he won? It didn’t seem like it! It’s quite different from last year, when Bones was thrilled (and appreciative) to win! Well, congrats anyway, Frobert! 🐸

Vigor and Verve

On Thursday, I received my monthly bank statement from the postal division at town hall. I earned 93,650 bells in interest this month.

When I visited Filbert, he asked how long I soak in the bathtub. I had to use a slider to respond, with one extreme being “One hour” and the other being “I don’t.” I know I’ve picked the latter option before (maybe not with Filbert, but with someone), so I wanted to see what he’d say if I said one hour. He said that would be a steam bath, and he seemed to laugh at the thought of me sweating in the tub. 🛁

Filbert: Huh huh huh... J-bot is sweating in the bathtub!

On the bulletin board, I saw a notice that the Bright Nights festival is next week! Wow, that seemed to sneak up on me!

Yesterday, Filbert was again being weird. He told me that the ocean in February is full of vigor and verve. 🤷‍♂️

Filbert: The ocean in February seems full of vigor and verve!
…and fish.

Marina was standing nearby too, and she gave me some tips for getting a good score with the Happy Room Academy.

Marina: Don't just toss your stuff on the floor. Remember, nobody likes a slob.

Moments later, I chatted with Marina again. This time, she told me not to be in such a rush. She wanted me to take my time to shake a tree or pull a weed.

Marina: Don't be in such a rush all the time. Stop and shake a tree or pluck a weed!
I do!

I checked the recycle bin at town hall, and I found a weeping fig there. Or at least I think I did…unless it was a fig-ment of my imagination. I’m not sure why it was weeping, but maybe it was going through a root awakening. 😛

Today, I found Curt all packed up and ready to move out of town. He’s never been one of my favorites, but I have earned his photo and he has lived in town for over a year. So I feel like he’s had enough time in Forest, and I let him go.

Curt: ...Just say that Curt had to run from the law, in a pond.

Robin was sick with a cold, so I gave her some medicine. Get well soon, Robin!

After making my rounds, I went over to the Roost. K.K. Slider was performing tonight, and I asked him for a random song. He played “K.K. Rockabilly” for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Rockabilly!

I hope to see you all next week for Bright Nights!

Underwater Kiss

On Wednesday, I went to the museum and watched the fish in the aquarium for a while. And you may call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure I saw a red snapper and a coelacanth kiss. 😆

Today, I received a letter from Mom in the mail. She said her pile of dirty dishes never disappears, no matter how many dishes she washes. 😆

Dear Jeff, I wash and I wash, but the pile never disappears. I think I'm ready to get a dishwasher. My hands are pruney! -Mom

Over by town hall, Whitney told me that good posture is the most important thing to keep in mind when walking. So she told me to strut around town like I’m “the cat’s meow.” 😸

Whitney: Hey, why don't you give it a try! Strut around like you're the cat's meow!
Whitney: Yup, boys definitely are more attractive when they are confident. Now, strut!

At 9:57 p.m., I stood by the gate and I heard a sound I haven’t heard in a long time. It was Gulliver’s UFO, flying through the snow!

This the first UFO I’ve seen since last June! That’s over seven months! I already had my slingshot out and ready, so I had no trouble shooting it down.

When I made my way over to the crashed UFO, I found Frobert and Whitney there, fighting! They must’ve just had an argument, because Frobert was steaming mad. He was trying to walk away, but in the direction of the passed-out Gulliver. Whitney was standing just below him, so he couldn’t walk down either. 😛

Gulliver: Numm numm... Couldn't... Couldn't eat another bite... ...OK, just one...

I searched around town to find his missing UFO parts, although one of them was right next to a pitfall. It was like a baited trap…that I fell into. Thanks, Gulliver.

Once I retrieved all five UFO parts, I took them back to Gulliver. He thanked me by giving me a 2nd Merlion. Nice reward, but not what I needed. This was my 45th UFO reward, and I still haven’t completed my collection of Gulliver items. (I still need the tribal mask.) Maybe next time… 😮‍💨
