Improving My HHA Score

Yesterday, I took inventory of the furniture in my sleek room to see if I had the complete set. It turns out I was two items short, so I went up to a former SpotPass home in the Happy Homes Showcase to order them; they arrived today. Now I should have the whole set.

My room full of sleek furniture.Outside, Molly gave me a quick survey from a magazine and said I needed a book called Good Turnip, Rotten Turnip to be happy. Amazon doesn’t seem to have this book in stalk stock yet, but I’m sure it will turnip soon.

Molly: What you need to achieve lasting happiness is a book called Good Turnip, Rotten Turnip.Teddy was talking about how you can wear wet suits to swim in the ocean. He felt bad because none of the wet suits available would fit him.

Teddy: But I don't think they make a wet suit that can contain my muscular form.He then asked if he could come over to my house later. We agreed to meet up at 5:00. When the time came, he came in…and called me Mom?? I’m not the momma!

Teddy: I'm sleepy...and hungry too! Mom, where's my food? The top Happy Homes Academy rewards are triggered once you hit 150,000 HHA points. And that’s a new goal of mine now. That’s why I made sure I had the full sleek set earlier. It’s also why I plan on keeping the full creepy and spooky sets in my house for a while longer, even though Halloween is over.

I went up to see Lyle at Nook Homes to see my current score. As of this morning, it was 107,349 points.

Lyle: Evaluatin'. Tabulatin'. Name of the game. Just the interior. Bang! My crew says...107,349 points! It should definitely jump by tomorrow now that I’ll have the full sleek set, but I don’t know how much. But Lyle continued on, giving me some tips and telling me what helps. Apparently the picture of Molly (and presumably the other villager pics as well) gives me some bonus points.

Lyle: Bang! Your Molly's pic! Says a lot about you! You and Molly. Seems you're pals.He did warn me that the bonus only applies as long as I remain friends with that animal. So apparently if I start ignoring someone (Tabby?), I will lose that bonus. He also informed me that hard-to-find items will score higher, as will refurbished furniture. Good to know.

Luna informed me that Matthew from Hocotate was my most recent dream visitor. So hello to Matthew if you’re reading this!

I’ll leave you with one tip I’ve run across on some forums. This may be considered a slight spoiler about the harvest festival (Thanksgiving) for later this month, so you may want to skip the next paragraph if you don’t want to hear it.

Okay, here’s the tip. You know the mushrooms that you’re finding on the ground all month? You may want to save several of each kind in your storage. That’s because they will be used in recipes at the harvest festival. This is going to be quite different from the harvest festivals on GameCube and Wii. But start saving them up now if you want to do well at the festival.

Anyway, I did a little fishing and diving to try for more of the new November catches, but I didn’t score any tonight. Well, that’s all I have for today, but I hope to see you back here again soon. Thanks for reading!

Mole Cricket & Blowfish

I got a letter in the mail from Gulliver today. Even though I guessed his destination wrong yesterday, he still sent me a gift: a chocolate coin. I ate it up.

Eating a chocolate coin that Gulliver sent me in the mail.Katrina was in town, so I went to see her. She told me that zap boots were the key to unlocking good fortune.

Katrina: Forest on a clear night...Near the river, I heard a mole cricket. So I started digging holes, and I found it on my third attempt. I switched to my net and just barely caught it before it could reach the river. The game makes a reference to Resetti when you catch it.

I caught a mole cricket! And I didn't even have to reset! It was well after 8:00, so I went up to Club LOL to watch K.K. perform. I asked for a random song and he sang Señor K.K. for me.

K.K.: Enough tuning--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called Senor K.K.In the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Lauren from Itaport was my most recent dream visitor. Hi Lauren!

I went into my house, and in my sleek room, I found my missing monster mask! It was in a place that wasn’t quite visible by the default camera angle. It didn’t cause any problems on Halloween by not having it though, since none of my indoor villagers that night were scared of it anyway.

My monster mask in my sleek furniture room.Aurora hollered out for me while I was in there. I went to my main room and she came in to visit. After talking to her a couple times, she gave me an alpine bed for free.

Aurora: Oh! I'd like to give you something. It's an alpine bed that reminded me of you. While looking through my storage, I saw three gold nuggets. I took them to Cyrus and he turned them into a golden wall. It was an item I already had, but thanks anyway, I guess.

Take home the golden wall?I went fishing for a few minutes and I caught my first blowfish.

I caught a blowfish! And that's not just hot air!I went up the museum to donate it. Oh hootie hoo, it’s a blowfish. Blathers and that fish should start up a band. I know the perfect name for it…

November Begins

While shopping at T&T Emporium today, I saw a harvest chair for sale. Apparently they’re selling harvest furniture in stores this year, just like they sold the spooky set in stores.

Timmy: Ah, a harvest chair! A fine item, yes?And up on the third floor, Gabi was hiding behind a sweets chair. She looked like she had seen a ghost. Or maybe her reflection.

While I was on Main Street, I went into the post office to check for this month’s DLC. The item for this month is an autumn-leaf chair.

Pelly: Sorry to keep you waiting! I hope you enjoy your new autumn-leaf chair! This is what the autumn-leaf chair looks like:

The autumn-leaf chair as seen in my golden room.Mushroom Season

November is mushroom season in New Leaf. I spotted this elegant mushroom in my town; it’s worth 10,000 bells.

An elegant mushroom on the ground in Forest.I spoke with Big Top and he asked me to fetch Benedict for him. I was a bit surprised by that request, as I don’t recall anyone asking me to get someone else and bring them back before. But I found Benedict and had him follow me to Big Top’s house.

Benedict: Huh? Big Top wants to see me? Well, since you came all this way to pick me up, sure, I'll go, J-bot.When we arrived, Benedict was a bit afraid that Big Top was going to chew him out.

Benedict: You didn't call me here to chew me out, did you, Big Top?But Big Top only wanted to return something he borrowed. Interesting. Why didn’t he just ask me to make the delivery? Maybe he doesn’t trust me. Is this because I accidentally opened his time capsule before? It’s not like I would have taken the item and defiantly hurled it into the ocean or anything. But at any rate, Benedict was relieved that he wasn’t in trouble.

Benedict: I thought I was in trouble or something, so I was all nervous and sweaty, buhk buhk.Benedict then left, and Big Top rewarded me with a modern wood lamp. After that, I headed over to the cafe to work a shift. An out-of-towner came in for coffee that I recognized quite well from my City Folk town: It was Avery!

Avery: Gimme a coffee! And make it a Kilimanjaro! After I was done working, I saw a tent at the campsite. I already have the maximum of ten villagers, so I was hoping nobody I really wanted was inside. Fortunately, the camper was Ed.

Ed: Oh, I'm not anyone suspicious!Back outside, I found out that–just like in City Folk–one mushroom each day will actually be a piece of mush furniture. Today, I plucked a mush closet.

I thought it was a mushroom, but it's a mush closet!Eventually, I returned to the Emporium. Rolf was in the gardening section, telling me he can relax when he’s surrounded by plants…up a tree.

Rolf: I feel like I can fully relax when I'm surrounded by plants, up a tree.Missed Opportunities

Gulliver was down on the beach, so I used my megaphone to wake him up. He told me he was headed to a country that gets cold in the winter and is the home to the Nobel Prize. That wasn’t much to go on, and I didn’t know the answer. I guessed Switzerland, but I was wrong.

Gulliver: Somehow, I think that's wrong. When I went back up the ramp, I saw Benedict over by the lighthouse. I heard the sound effect of a flea jumping on him, so I got my net out and caught it. He told me I could keep the flea as a present. Thanks, pal.

Benedict: As my way of saying thanks, please keep that flea as a present!I then went diving in the ocean. After I caught a scallop, Pascal popped up and asked me for it. I agreed to give it to him, and he gave me a barrel in exchange.

Pascal: The best things in life are free, but if you try to sell them, you always seem to make a KILLING, maaan...While I was still out diving, I heard a balloon present flying overhead; it was a silver slingshot. But it was traveling out to sea, so I wasn’t able to shoot it down. All I could do was watch it sail on by.

A silver slingshot on balloons floats by as I swim in the ocean.
