Big Top the Baby Seller

Tonight, I found a lost item outside of Aurora’s house. Could it belong to Aurora? Nah, that would be too easy.

Finding a lost item on the ground. Before I could ask Big Top if the bag was his, he offered to sell me a baby! I’m pretty sure that’s illegal. But I bought it anyway.

Big Top: Hi there. I'm looking to offload my baby bear for 640 bells. Any interest?I heard a flea jumping around when I walked by Velma. I helped her out by catching it.

Velma: Get it off! Get it off! Oh! You did!She then unmasked the flea and found out it was really a blood-bank robber in disguise! Good thing we foiled his plans! Now he can goat straight to jail!

I eventually found out that the lost bag belonged to Rolf. He thanked me for returning it and he gave me a grape-stripe shirt.

Rolf: Oh wait! I guess I DID drop it!Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me Chiebuka from Aniville was my most recent dream visitor.

As you may know, I’ve been updating this blog five times a week for a while now (and seven days a week for a long time prior to that). But as you play any game for hundreds (or thousands) of hours, it reaches a point where there’s not as much to do that you haven’t done countless times before.

So I will be slowing down a bit. You can now expect 3-4 entries per week instead of five. I’ll still try to do four entries a week most of the time (for a while at least), but that will likely slow to three entries in the coming weeks or months. But don’t worry, I’m not giving up on New Leaf. More Dream Suite Adventures, QR codes, videos, and guides are yet to come!

There will be new things to look forward to, as well. Happy Home Designer comes out next month, and I will be blogging about that as soon as the game comes out. I’ll also be starting a blog for Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories, which comes out in the winter. Thank you all who visit this blog and JVGS.

Eggplant Cow (Nintendo Zone DLC)

This morning, I tracked down Joan near the town tree. She was selling turnips for 105 bells each, which is a bit high. But I still bought my usual amount (4,100 turnips).

Joan: The asking price is 105 bells per turnip. What do you think, kiddo?New DLC

Later on, Pete met me outside my house with a letter from Nintendo. Now through August 29th, an eggplant cow is available at Nintendo Zone locations. Wait, a what?

From 8/16 to 8/29, the eggplant cow is available via Nintendo Zone!So I went up to the post office and got my item from Phyllis.

Phyllis: Oh, all right. Here's the eggplant cow.I didn’t know what to expect, but I headed over to the Emporium to take a look at the eggplant cow in my catalog. Apparently, it’s an eggplant with sticks stuck into it to resemble legs. How eggciting. So it’s a lot like the cucumber horse in that respect. It can not be ordered from the catalog.

Of course, the fireworks festival was also held tonight. I stopped behind Re-Tail to watch the fireworks as a balloon present flew by.

Fireworks and a balloon present.Agent S thought the fireworks were quite romantic. Wait, was she flirting with me?

Agent S: I'm hope SOMEONE in town is taking advantage of this utterly romantic fireworks show...At the event plaza, Isabelle gave me a flower bopper.

Isabelle: When you wear that flower bopper, you'll shine just as bright as the fireworks!Me watching fireworks while wearing a flower bopper.Back to Main Street

Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Toadette from Mustakii was my most recent dream visitor.

And in the Happy Homes Showcase, I saw the house of someone I StreetPassed: Emily from Emily.  Emily from Emily has Emily Town designs in her house, as well as some patterns that have the letter E. I’m guessing they also stand for Emily (just a hunch). I think she must like her name.

Competing Against Velma

This morning, Reese was paying 131 bells for turnips, so I sold mine and earned a relatively small profit for the week.

Reese: Currently, I'm buying each turnip for 131 bells. The Bug-Off competition was held today, and I gave Nat a goliath beetle that I caught last night. It took over the top spot with 87 points. Nat gave me a firefly lamp as my prize.

Nat: Let's see here... By my great-aunt's glasses! This is an exceedingly rare goliath beetle! To improve my odds of winning the competition, I also gave Nat a horned elephant from my dock box; it scored 92 points. For beating my own record, Nat gave me another firefly lamp.

Nat: 92 points!I felt good about my chances now, but Velma wasn’t giving up.

Velma: You think a lady like myself can't get down in the dirt and catch bugs? Just watch!I returned after 6:00 to check out the final results in Nat’s tent. As expected, my 92-point horned elephant hung on to the top spot, and I won the competition. But Velma came through with a strong performance too, just as she predicted. She won 2nd place, while Big Top finished in 3rd place.

And in Club LOL tonight, I checked out K.K.’s Saturday night performance. He played K.K. Bazaar for me.

K.K.: Enough tuning already--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called K.K. Bazaar.
