Weeding Day

Last night, I sold my last hair-bow wig to Kieu.

Kieu: I love it!And today, being the last Friday of April, was Weeding Day! Leif the mime was over by the town tree talking about pulling weeds. However, Forest had no weeds to pull.

Leif: ...BUUUUT, Forest is already nice and tidy, clean and happy! We don't need any weeding at all!So I qualified for the Special Cleanup Award. I’m now able to decorate the town with topiaries that Leif designed. They’re available as public works projects (PWPs) at town hall. I headed there right away to take a look at them, only to find out that I can’t do anything because today is an event day.

Isabelle: It's not healthy to work so much, Mayor! Why don't you just take the day off instead? But these are my rewards for the event, Isabelle! Let me look! I’ll have to take pictures of them tomorrow. But for now, I made my usual walk around town. When I put some money in the bank, my account balance topped 12 million bells. And in the Emporium, Leif’s garden shop section was roped off (since Leif is at the event plaza).

Leif is absent from the garden shop.I went to Mark’s town, because he has a sci-fi set for me that I’m going to use for another giveaway coming up soon. While I was there, I saw that Leif was asleep.

Leif sleeping outdoors.I also looked at Mark’s house, which is in the process of being changed from a castle to an astro-themed house. I was afraid some medieval robotic bees were going to swarm out of there.

Mark's house. He also gave me an extra lily record player he got from Leif. Thanks for everything, Mark!

A lily record player. At 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. David and Squishy came over to visit. They were nice enough to help me clean up (and eat) all the extra candy I had at my plaza. All that candy gave me a big bellyache.

Jeff turns into a giant. When we were done, we watched the history of Forest and then hung out in Re-Tail of all places. When we went back outside, David found the daily pitfall seed.

David in a pitfall.About 10:30, Jessica also came over to visit. After greeting her with a friendly hammer to the face, we all went out to the island. One of the island tours available today was the hide-and-seek one! Yes! On the first one, we found all four animals in less than a minute. That was good for an easy nine medals.

Tortimer: That was fast! Really fast! You've earned a Gold Tortimer award, meaning you get 9 medals!I chose the same tour again, and we finished in just over a minute. And this was despite hearing a sales pitch from a Progressive insurance saleswoman.

Flo: Gah! You found me! Dude! I thought I was really well hidden this time!We also went on a gardening tour and aced it as well.

Tortimer: Whoa there, Speedy McGreenthumb! You've earned a Gold Tortimer award and 8 medals!David had to leave after that, so we headed back to Forest. Jessica also left. But just a few minutes afterwards, Meli came over to visit. Squishy and I glitched into the river and we raced around.

Racing in the river.I won the race! Of course, Squishy didn’t know we were racing, but I’ll take the win however I can get it! I then surprised them both by eating another famous mushroom I found today.

A giant sized Jeff in the river. We were encouraging Meli to glitch into the river to join us.

Squishy: Join the dark side. But that’s when someone else tried to join the party. But as they were about to come in, we all disconnected. I reopened my gate and Georgie came in.

Georgie from Hyrule has just arrived in Forest.Mike also came over to visit, and he admitted that he was the one who caused the first disconnection when he tried to come in. Using my tweeter, I was able to smack both of them at the same time.

Smacking Mike and Georgie with my tweeter.Meli returned and Forest had a full house once again. We went out to the island… I’m tempted to say again, but it’s not again. This is an entirely different group from the first island trip. How rare is that?

Anyway, this group wasn’t nearly as shy about picking tours, so I just went along with what they picked. We went on a tuna-catching tour and only won a bronze award. But we scored big on the bonus medals (at least Georgie and I did).

Tortimer: Georgie gets 15 medals, Jeff gets 7 medals. We also went on a gardening tour and an elite hide-and-seek tour. The elite one has pitfall seeds that turn it into a falling-in-holes competition. I found more worms than villagers, but I finished the game in-style (and in mid-air).

Hovering in mid-air as the game ends.We returned to Forest and I tried glitching off the dock as someone was playing with a timer.

Scores: Mike: 0. Meli: 0. Georgie: 0. Jeff: 0.
I guess we all lose.

A bit later, we gathered at my house, where Meli told me she worked for the HHA and she was inspecting my house! Uh-oh…

Meli: Surprise HHA inspection. But I think her grading scale is a bit different from Lyle’s. My back room, which has creepy furniture, is a bit cluttered. In fact, it’s completely blocked off by modern wood furniture that I moved out to make room for my egg room. But Meli didn’t seem to notice how scrambled it was, and rated it high for being colorful.

Jeff: Um. I can explain.Meanwhile, Georgie saw my egg room and–like a superhero–turned into the Easter bunny.

The Easter bunny! She told me not to look behind her. I was wondering if her bunny suit had a zipper like…Zipper. But it didn’t. I’m just glad she didn’t lay an egg.

The Easter bunny faces the wall. After the house and bunny inspections were complete, we headed over to Re-Tail. But Re-Tail was closed.

Hanging out in front of a closed Re-Tail.At this point, we got disconnected. I was basically done for the night, but I reopened for a couple minutes so that Meli could catalog the Aries rocking chair again. And with that, I ended my night in Forest. I’ll be back tomorrow with pictures of the topiaries. I may choose to install one in my town too, but I’m not sure where just yet.

Have a good night and a good weekend, everyone!

Making Deliveries

I was able to get in touch with all three giveaway winners today. I left my 3DS at the screen where it lists any open gates and I put my 3DS in sleep mode and put it in my pocket. But I later found out, my 3DS had taken 42 near-identical pictures over an eight minute span, all like this:

Porter: Here is a list of the available towns at the moment. When I returned, I saw Charlie’s town Casania open. Charlie was the second prize winner, and I delivered seven villager pics to her.

Delivering items to Charlie.Next, I headed to Aimiria, which is Taylor’s town. She won three villager pics.

Dropping off items at Taylor's town. And a bit later, Bre opened up the gate to her town Crimson. She was the grand prize winner, and she won nine villager pics.

Delivering villager pics to Bre.Congratulations to all three winners! There will be more giveaways coming up in the near future, so stay tuned for more.

When I returned to Forest, I sold all of my turnips at Re-Tail. Reese was paying 163 bells each for them, so I scored 163,000 bells for them all.

Reese: Well then...I could probably part with 163,000 bells for all of it, if that sounds OK with you?I spotted a mushroom growing by my stump today. It was a famous mushroom, which lets me grow to superhuman heights…if only for a moment. Tomorrow is my Wi-Fi night, so I may surprise my visitors at some point.

Spotting a famous mushroom on the ground. While I was working a shift at the Roost today, a clown came in to entertain me!

Pietro comes in for coffee. And I thought Klaus was frightening! Actually this clown (Pietro) didn’t entertain me at all. He just wanted some coffee. What a boring clown.

Skye asked me for an apple, so I looked around and found one for her. When I gave it to her, she thanked me and gave me a hamster cage. An apple for a hamster? What an odd trade.

Skye: Here. What do you think about my hamster cage? I hope you like it!Aurora told me she wanted to move out on the 29th of April, but I made her stay.

Aurora: It may seem sudden, but I'll be moving away on the 29th of this month.I also went to Julia’s town DeadStar to sell her a hair-bow wig. She was happy to have it.

Julia and her new hair-bow wig.Today’s most recent dream visitor was Julieth from Astoria. Thanks for visiting, Julieth!

Are you all ready for Weeding Day tomorrow? From what I understand, you can’t have any weeds if you want the special PWPs. But if you want the Weeding Day furniture instead, you do need weeds. Clearly, I’ll be going for the PWPs, so I’m looking forward to that. Check back late tomorrow night for Friday’s blog entry. See you then!

Giveaway Winners

Klaus was camping at my campsite today. He’s big, but he’s no Santa. He actually seems a bit frightening.

Klaus: Hey, I'm here visiting town! I'm Klaus, and I'm just enjoying my camping trip.I heard the sound effect of a flea hopping around, so I looked around and soon saw it was on Gala. After I caught it with my net, Gala told me she tries hard to keep clean.

Gala: WHAT? I had a flea on me? Eww. I try to hard to stay clean too.
Don’t lie. You love rolling in the mud, admit it.

I found Gulliver down on the beach, and he was clearly headed to Egypt. He said he’ll never know how they built the pyramids.

Gulliver: It's famous for tall, triangle-shaped buildings called pyramids. How they built them, I'll never know.
Aliens!

I took Kapp’n’s boat out to the island to check today’s tours. No hide and seek, and nothing I really cared for. But I decided to go on one Hop-To-It bug hunt tour. I had five minutes to catch as many locusts as I could. I ended up catching nine of them, and that earned me a gold Tortimer award and eight medals.

Tortimer: That's enough to net you a Gold Tortimer award and 8 medals! And up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Emily from Alfheim was my most recent dream visitor.

Luna: According to the latest feedback, a client named Emily from Alfheim enjoyed your dream. My giveaway for villager pictures ended today, so I held the drawing tonight. I took all valid entries and pasted them into a worksheet. I used random.org to pick three random numbers, and the three winners were:

  • 1st Prize: Bre (0087-2352-1718) wins 9 villager pictures.
  • 2nd Prize: Charlie (0989-2289-1711) wins 7 villager pictures.
  • 3rd Prize: Taylor (2122-7020-7702) wins 3 villager pictures.

I have tried contacting all three of them, but I’ve only heard back from Bre so far. I plan on dropping off her prizes tomorrow afternoon/evening. If Charlie or Taylor are reading this, please check your e-mail or respond on the friend exchange page. Or comment here. Or message me anywhere.

The winners have until Saturday night at 9 p.m. Eastern U.S. time to claim their prizes. If any of them fail to do so by then, I will draw a new number (or new numbers) to choose replacement winners. So I’m saving my spreadsheet until all prizes have been delivered. Stay tuned for updates!
