April Fool’s Day

April 1st is April Fool’s Day of course, but it also brings some other changes. In particular, some trees are now pink. It definitely gives the town a springtime feeling.

Pink trees in town. And being a new month, there is new DLC available at the post office. Talk to Pelly or Phyllis and you can pick up a cherry-blossom clock. It can be re-ordered from the catalog for 4,160 bells.

Cherry blossom clock: 4,160 bells.April Fool’s Day means villagers will try to play jokes on you. Big Top told me Forest was changing its name to Water Bottleville.

Big Top: Yep! It's changing to Water Bottleville!
That’s not 8 characters or less, Big Top!

Rolf’s prank was a bit more believable: He told me the Able Sisters have a younger brother named Gable. Maybe we’ll see him selling gloves in the next game! 😛

Rolf: They've discovered the Able Sisters actually have a younger brother named Gable! This area near my house had three new black roses! I didn’t even use any fertilizer! I wish hybrids were this easy in City Folk.

Three new black roses!Once I got to the event plaza, I saw that the town tree also has pink leaves now. Pretty cool.

The town tree is now pink! That’s where I ran into Blanca.

Blanca: Yep, yep! It's April Fools' Day, the day of pranks and tricksters!Unlike in previous Animal Crossing games, you don’t have to draw her a face in New Leaf. Instead, she’s the ultimate prankster. She will disguise herself as your other villagers and appear with them in their houses.

Agent S: WHO ARE YOU AND WHY DO YOU LOOK EXACTLY LIKE ME?!You have to figure out which one is real and which is fake. They will make opposing statements about their hobby, number of siblings, favorite quote, or birthday. After they’ve both made their statement, you are asked if you know who is the real villager. If you say no, you can try again with a different set of statements.

Once you know (or once you’re ready to guess), you are given a cloth and you’re told to hand it to who you think is the impostor. The animal you hand it to will then wipe off his or her face. If your choice was correct, Blanca’s true form will be revealed.

Blanca: I'm the fake one! That's a bummer! You figured out it was me! I was sure my disguise was perfect!A correct decision will also result in the villager giving you his or her picture. In this case, I got Agent S’s pic!

Quote on Agent S's pic: You gotta put the pedal to the metal!Blanca will then move from one villager’s house to another. If Blanca isn’t in a house you go in, you’ll just get the villager trying to play a joke on you.

Nan: Have you visited the new 100-bell shop yet? I just bought a gently used sea bass for only 100 bells! When I went into Tia’s house, I saw two steaming teapots!

Tia and her clone, steaming mad at each other. One of the Tias told me her hobby was blowing bubbles. I figured that was the fake one. However, when it came time to had the towel, I forgot I was supposed to give it to the fake one; I accidentally gave it to the real one without realizing it until it was too late.

Tia: I thought we knew each other better than this, sweet tea.Seeing two Mollys was almost a cuteness overload.

Molly: No, wait! Mayor, don't be fooled by her! I'm the real Molly! And the faces they make when they are waiting for you to make your decision is pretty funny.

Two Auroras make funny faces at me.After playing the game in each of my villagers’ houses, Blanca said goodbye for the year.

Blanca: I'll be back next year to pull another prank on people, so I'll see you on the next April Fools'!In all, I got seven of nine correct. I ended up getting Agent S’s pic, Rolf’s pic, Aurora’s pic, Skye’s pic, Nan’s pic, Kidd’s pic, and Big Top’s pic. The pictures of Nan and Agent S are new, while the others were duplicates. The five duplicates have been added to my stash. When I do eventually have the giveaway, it will have three winners.

My stash of duplicate villager pictures. And speaking of giveaways, the one for the cabana set ends tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The winner will be announced in tomorrow night’s blog entry.

Where My Villagers Came From

I got Teddy’s goodbye letter in the mail today, and he attached his picture to the letter. I got his picture once before, so this one was a duplicate. I put it in my museum to add it to my future giveaway stash.

My duplicate villager pictures.I spoke with Kidd, and he was acting a bit odd. Any time a goat tells you about his stylin’ skeleton, you have to wonder about him…

Kidd: So when you use your superpowers to look past all my style, what do you see? A stylin' skeleton, I hope!I also saw Agent S, and I talked to her as much as I could. She told me she’s destined to be best friends with Fyree from n00btown. But then again, she says that about everyone.

Agent S: You know, I just met Fyree from n00btown. I was all like, what an awesome fish-and-bug star!Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Margo from Ladentek was my most recent dream visitor.

Luna: According to the latest feedback, a client named Margo from Ladentek enjoyed your dream. And next to Re-Tail, I bumped into Kidd once again. This time, he thanked me for the medicine I’ve been giving him lately and he gave me an exotic wall.

Kidd: 'Cause of you, I'm fully recovered!Gulliver was down on the beach, and I figured out he was headed to Belgium. So I should be getting another manneken pis in the mail from him tomorrow. It should be easy to spot; it’ll be the package that’s leaking.

Gulliver: ...Belgium! My memory's back! That's the place! The country! And at the Happy Homes Showcase, I think I met an alien. Or something.

Shine: I'm Shine from Stardale. My home is over at West 13.T. Zelda (or Toon Zelda) has allowed me to add some of her patterns to the QR Codes page here at JVGS. They’re sprites from Super Mario Kart: Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach, all in their go-karts. Check them out!

And even though my town page lists my current villagers and the dates they moved in, I thought I’d list where they all came from:

  • Aurora: Original villager
  • Big Top: Random move-in
  • Molly: Camper
  • Rolf: Camper
  • Kidd: Random move-in
  • Skye: Came from Chris’s town (accidentally)
  • Tia: StreetPass
  • Agent S: Came from Squishy’s town (on purpose)
  • Nan: StreetPass

Teddy’s Last Day in Town

This morning, Joan was selling turnips for 103 bells apiece. After a week off from the stalk market, I jumped back in, buying 1,000 turnips.

Joan: So 1,000 turnips comes out to be 103,000 bells altogether. Do you wanna buy them? When I checked my mail, I saw that Katie sent me this world map.

The world map I got from Katie.I spoke with Agent S, and she asked to play a game of hide-and-seek. I agreed, and she gave me ten minutes to find her, Nan, and Skye. I found them all without much trouble, but Nan’s hiding spot was easily the worst.

Nan tries to hide behind the modern clock.I won the game, and Agent S awarded me the prize: a trunk measure. I’ll have to invite Big Top and Tia over to use that sometime.

Agent S: Well, that sort of good seeking earns you a prize. Here. How about a trunk measure?Phineas was in town today, and he gave me the StreetPass Beginner badge!

I got the StreetPass Beginner badge! Have I really tagged that many people?!This was only possible thanks to the StreetPass relay system. Otherwise, this would have taken me years. But I now have at least a bronze medal in every category except two: Dreams and letter writing. Here’s an updated look at my badges.

My badge collection as of March 30, 2014.Over at my campsite, I found Whitney the wolf camping. My town is full (at least until tomorrow), so I couldn’t ask her to move in. Not that I necessarily would have anyway…I already have Skye, who looks practically identical except for the eyes.

Whitney: Hey, are you from around here?I then went to say goodbye to Teddy, since this was his last day in town.

Teddy: You know, I've decided to move out. I'm getting ready for it right now.I later went up to the Dream Suite, and Luna told me that Lindsey from Forest was my most recent dream visitor. I also went into the Emporium to buy some medicine for Kidd, who was still sick today. He seems to be getting better though, so take a good look at him flipping…’cause it’s the last time!

Kidd flips as he takes his medicine. After Skye (the wolf) visited my house, Kizlit from DayDream came over to adopt Teddy. She brought me a red balloon to thank me.

Kizlit and me holding balloons. She went to talk to him and he confirmed he would be moving to the town of DayDream. Best of luck in your new town, Teddy!

Teddy: I'm going to move to a place called DayDream!Kizlit did some shopping while Yuka was on Main Street messing with me. As always.

Yuka: OK, that's not true. Ha! I'm in an odd mood, and I feel like messing with you. Just because I can!Up in GracieGrace, Kizlit bought a bunch of princess furniture. What a big spender!

Kizlit buys out GracieGrace! After that, I ended the session. But later on, Wendy opened her gate so I could sell some perfect peaches. We also traded a basket of peaches for cherries. My seven baskets of peaches earned me 189,000 bells.

Reese: Well then...I could probably part with 189,000 bells for all of it, if that sounds OK with you?As I sat on a stump behind a building, Wendy cut down a couple of trees. But from my perspective, the trees were invisible until they turned into a stump!

Wendy cuts down invisible trees. We also did some glitching into the cold warm waters of the geyser.

Glitching in the geyser.
A river runs through me.

But when I glitched into the hot spring, she saved the game so she could murder me! How rude!

Me passing out in the hot spring. After that, my ghost decided to fly home for the night. I’ll be sure to haunt you tonight, Wendy! BOO!
