Golden Fishing Rod

Today was the day of the fishing tournament. When I went over to talk to Chip (the judge), there was an option for me to tell him to look at my collection. He saw that I have caught every type of fish, and he handed me the golden fishing rod!

I got a golden fishing rod! Look out, fishies! Here I come! But before I started fishing, I made my usual rounds. I talked to villagers, watered my flowers, found the money rock, and made my trip up to Main Street. I bought a party popper at the Emporium, and updated my dream town. Luna informed me that my town has had over 3,000 dream visitors now. Thanks to everyone who has visited!

Luna: Records state the number of clients who have experienced a dream about Forest is 3,015.She also told me that Dan from Peloma was my most recent dream visitor. When I was done in the shopping district, I returned to town to go fishing. I caught several fish, which I donated in increasing size order. This is possible because New Leaf tells the sizes of the fish when you catch them. These are the four fish I gave to Chip, along with the reward he gave me for each:

  • Olive flounder, 29.30 inches. Chip gave me an exercise bike.
  • Olive flounder, 31.75 inches. Chip gave me a sea-anemone bed.
  • Sea bass, 35.95 inches. Chip gave me a dotted wall.
  • Sea bass, 41.25 inches. Chip gave me a crab clock.

I was also going to give Chip an 85.65 inch tuna I caught, but I was late by literally one second. The clock struck 6:00 right before I could give it to him. But that was no problem, because I still won the tournament easily. Skye won 2nd place and Teddy won 3rd place.

Holding my gold fishing trophy atop the podium in the winners' ceremony.Even though I sold the exercise bike before the tournament ended, I took a picture of my remaining prizes: the sea anemone bed, dotted wall, and crab clock.

The sea anemone bed, dotted wall, and crab clock. With the tournament over, my focus turned to snowmen. I found my daily snowballs and built my fourth bingo snowman. I couldn’t help but think they looked a little creepy staring at me like this.

Four creepy snowmen staring at me.
I think I walked into the wrong neighborhood.

After giving them all a spin, today’s numbers were 2, 3, 30, and 34. I’m closing in on my first bingo.

My current bingo card.I then took my gold fishing trophy up to my trophy room on the second floor of the museum.

All of my trophies so far.Later on, Skye (the human) came over to get her bingo card punched. I used the opportunity for a surprise attack with my party popper.

I pop a party popper at Skye. And after 8:00, I went up to Club LOL for some traditional K.K. I asked him for a random song and he performed K.K. Swing.

K.K.: Enough tuning--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called K.K. Swing.

Winter Wi-Fi

Gulliver sent me a letter from up in Canada today, along with a gift. I was expecting some maple syrup, but he sent me a dreamcatcher instead.

A dreamcatcher hanging on the wall of my museum. When I went to visit my previous snowmen, they let me reset their bingo balls.

Snowman: My number for the day has not been set! Please get my eyeballs spinning!I also built another bingo snowman near them; my numbers for today were 7, 24, and 46. But to get a good picture of all three, I had to cut down a tree. Fortunately (or is that unfortunately), the toppling tree didn’t damage the snowmen. Admit it, it would have been cool to witness a snowman screaming as a tree clobbered him. It’s a murder mister-tree!

I cut down a tree near my snowmen. But on the bright side, I got my picture of them all.

My three snowmen.I then made my way up to Main Street. At the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Edward from Aquaria was my most recent dream visitor. If you haven’t yet seen Forest in the snow, my dream address is 4300-2003-9889. So feel free to visit in the dream world.

Over at Able Sisters, I bought some Santa pants that were on sale. I still need the jacket, and then I think I’ll have the whole suit.

Back in town, Aurora wanted me to visit her house. But unfortunately, she made me schedule a time. I chose 5:30, but I forgot about it until 6:00. She was disappointed that I missed her.

Aurora: Did you forget about our plans?! You were supposed to come over.At 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. My town filled up instantly as Meli, Tiffiny, and Louis-S came over to visit. As I said hello to everyone, I accidentally erased a tile as I took this picture.

Santa Jeff accidentally kicks away a tile pattern. After stopping at the snowmen so some of them could get their bingo cards stamped, we hung out at my house for a while. Louis dubbed me the Dancing Santa.

Dancing Santa Jeff entertains some visitors. When we went outside, Louis suggested we do a little swimming. So Dancing Santa became Diving Santa.

Santa Jeff jumps off a cliff and into the ocean. And it wouldn’t be a Forest party if Tabby didn’t get hammered.

Smacking Tabby with a toy hammer. We went up to Club LOL for some dancing. Yuka and Rolf joined us there, too. Rolf was really getting into it, shaking that tiger butt of his.

Rolf shakes his butt as we all dance at Club LOL.Louis left shortly before 11:00, and Jessica came over to take his place. We headed out to the island, where we did some tours. The tour selection wasn’t very good today, but we went on two bug-catching tours and one labyrinth (maze) tour. We failed the labyrinth one, but we got gold Tortimer awards for both bug tours: Jessica won the first one and Tiffiny won the second one.

Tortimer: Jessica gets 6 medals, Tiffiny gets 4 medals.Once we returned to the mainland, we went back over to the snowmen so Jessica could check her numbers. The sky was very clear tonight, so this made for a very nice pic of the snowmen and the moon.

A night shot of my visitors, my snowmen, and a full moon.Meli sat on my town tree to view my town history. She soon found out it was a violent history.

I hit Meli with a toy hammer as she sits at the town tree and views the town history.Tiffiny left before midnight, and Rodney came over to take her place. He’s a person who had trouble connecting with me before, but he was finally able to visit tonight. Anyway, I invited them all over to the modern clock to see it light up at midnight.

The modern clock lighting up at midnight.Forest’s violent history soon become Forest’s violent present, as we all got our toy hammers out.

A toy hammer fight.A bit later, the Santas were sitting on the metal bench when I realized we were actually on a sleigh. So we called in a reindeer to get this sleigh off the ground.

Meli acts as the reindeer pulling the sleigh with Santa Jeff and Santa Jessica on board. We took turns being the reindeer, but nothing would work. Not even Rodney the red-nosed reindeer could save us. Even with three reindeer and no Santa, this sleigh was grounded.

Four disappointed deer in front of the sleigh.
I guess Christmas will have to be cancelled this year. No presents for Tabby!

I took a break to talk to Teddy, and he accused me of stalking him! How rude! I only stalked him to make sure none of my visitors stole him away! Because I saw the way they eyed him…

Teddy: Are you stalking me, bro? What do you mean you're not my bro, bro?Around 12:35, I ended the party for the night. I had a good time, and it was nice to see Forest with a full house virtually the whole time. Have a great weekend, everyone!

UPDATE: Just wanted to include a look at my current badges:

Jeff's badge collection as of December 12, 2013.

Inside the Igloo

I got a letter in the mail from Katie today. She thanked me for taking her to Auctus yesterday, and she sent me this globe.

The globe that I got from Katie, the traveling cat. When I talked to Copper at the police station, he told me there was a camper in town. But of course during winter, campers don’t use a tent…they use an igloo! So I quickly made my way over there to check it out.

The igloo where campers camp in winter.Alice the koala was inside, talking about how much she loves the crackling of the fire.

Alice: I love hearing the crackle of a fire at a winter campground. There's something so magical about it.She also told me she was cooking an interesting recipe she got out of a book about shoe polish! I didn’t stick around to try it out.

Alice: I'm making the most interesting meal for dinner! I got the recipe from a book about shoe polish. My dynamic painting from Crazy Redd turned out to be a fake, unfortunately.

Reese: Oh no! If you look very closely at it, you can see it's a fake!I talked to my snowman from yesterday, and he told me to give his eyes another spin. Once again, they came up showing eleven. So I’m not sure if a snowman’s number will stay the same each day until he melts or not. Update: They don’t stay the same; it was just a coincidence that he gave me 11 two days in a row.

Snowman: 11!Today’s snowballs were much easier to find, and I pushed them together to make another bingo snowman. This one’s number was 45, which was another number I needed.

Snowman: Aha! It appears you do have 45! Please punch a hole in your card!I decided to take a picture of them both. There’s actually a tree in between them, but the tree disappears when I went in for a closer view.

My two snowmen. This is what my bingo card currently looks like:

My bingo card with three holes punched in it.Skye (the wolf) asked to visit my house, so I reluctantly invited her over. I played my harp just to make her applaud for me.

Skye applauds after hearing me play my harp. After she left, I went down to the beach to see if there was a lost item on the sand. I didn’t find a lost item, but I found a lost sailor instead. It was Gulliver of course, and he (shockingly) woke up the first time I talked to him! He was clearly on his way to Canada, so he promised to send me a gift in the mail. I’m hoping it’s not a polar bear.

Gulliver: ...Oh, Canada!I went out to my island to catch some bugs. Earning money wasn’t my goal; I was trying to catch every bug I saw to see if I would catch one I still needed. I even cut some trees down so I could get stump bugs.

I’m missing two bugs still, and I have no idea what they are. But I’m guessing they may be morning bugs (since I rarely play in mornings) or perhaps bugs that are only found on bushes (I don’t have many bushes). I didn’t catch anything new today, but I may try again in the morning sometime.

And last but not least, here is a picture of the zen clock that Rolf suggested yesterday. I don’t plan on putting it in my town, though.

Zen clock: 78,000 bells.
