Piggy Bank

I got a letter in the mail from the post office today. They congratulated me on saving a million bells in my account, and they sent me this piggy bank.

The piggy bank I got in the mail from the post office. On my way over to Re-Tail, I dug up a rare mushroom. It’s worth 16,000 bells!

Look! I dug up a rare mushroom!I spoke with Molly and she told me she was going to move out on November 10th!

Molly: It may seem sudden, but I'll be moving away on the 10th of this month.I quickly talked her out of it, because she’s not allowed to move out. Neither are Aurora, Big Top, or Rolf. The others, I may let them move out after they give me their pictures. But Tabby and Tammy are welcome to go at any time!

Anyway, I had my piggy bank customized with emeralds. I wanted to see how it looked.

Take home the piggy bank?It looks better from certain angles than others, and this picture doesn’t quite do it justice. It looks nicer in my sleek room, though.

I had a gem rock instead of a money rock today, and two of the gems were gold nuggets. I also had one in storage, so I took the three of them back to Re-Tail to be turned into furniture. Cyrus made me a golden dresser again.

Take home the golden dresser?I will share a trip I’ve been using for money lately. Other than the gold nuggets, which I save for furniture, I sell all my ore at the flea market part of Re-Tail. I sell them for 7,500 bells (same as my superb coffee beans) and the animals have no problem buying them at that price. It’s a lot better than selling them for the usual 2,000 bells apiece.

Benedict was still sick today, so once again, I bought him medicine. I took this picture as he flipped.

Benedict flips as he takes his medicine. You may remember that I said once I saved a million bells and got my reward for it, I would put in a new public works project. I looked through my list tonight and decided to renovate town hall. Lloid was actually inside of town hall.

Lloid the gyroid inside of town hall.I went outside and took one last picture of my town hall as it currently exists.

The last picture of my original town hall before remodeling. After withdrawing around 400,000 bells from my bank account, I paid off the project immediately. I’ll have my new modern town hall tomorrow. Isabelle and Lloid went crazy with excitement. I had to fight back the tears. (Just kidding).

Animated GIF of my mayor saying "Awesome!" and blinking as Isabelle claps in the background.I’ll be back tomorrow with a look at my new town hall building. I hope to see you then. 🙂

Saving A Million Bells

Late last night, I decided to take the train to another town. This was partially to sell all the perfect peaches I had accumulated lately, and also to test my connection. Fortunately, I was able to travel to Tiffiny’s town Auctus. I gave her a few of my perfect peaches, and she offered me a basket of perfect pears.

While I was there, I introduced myself to Flurry the hamster.

Flurry: Have we met before?I also had a drink from the fountain.

Taking a drink of water from the drinking fountain.I saw two stumps by the bridge, and Tiffiny told me the animals will sometimes sit on them.

Me and Tiffiny sitting on tree stumps. While I was there, I also met two other visitors, David and Krista (I hope I’m spelling that right). But after a little while, I returned to my town and ended my night.

Then today, I saw that there was a new SpotPass home in the Happy Homes Showcase. It belongs to Cesar from Tijuana.

Cesar: I'm Cesar from Tijuana. My home is over at North 9. Your friendly neighborhood...His main room was futuristic and it looked pretty nice.

Cesar's futuristic StreetPass home. The upstairs was a rec room, and this skeleton figurine stood out. I don’t think I’ve seen it before.

The skeleton figurine in Cesar's recreation room.Interestingly, those were the only two rooms in the house! It seems a bit odd for a SpotPass home to only have two rooms, but oh well.

I returned to town and Benedict was seeing double…and then quadruple!

Benedict: Yay! I didn't know you had a twin, J-bot! Wait. Are there four of you now?It turns out he was sick with a fever. I made a mental note to buy him some medicine, but first I went to Kidd’s house. He asked me to catch him a football fish!

Kidd: The football fish is so slippery! I can't catch one! Could you bring it to me?I haven’t even caught one of those for myself yet! But I continued my trek around town, stopping in the campsite to see today’s camper. It was Lobo the wolf.

Lobo: Sometimes it gets a little miserable sleeping in a tent... But that's all part of the experience! GAHAHA!Soon after that, I headed up to Main Street. Luna told me that Khori from K City was my most recent dream visitor, so hello to Khori if you’re reading this! In Nook Homes, Lyle told me that my house score was up to 137,467 HHA points. I’m getting close to my goal of 150,000.

Lyle: Evaluatin'. Tabulatin'. Name of the game. Just the interior. Bang! My crew says...137,467 points!Next door at the post office, I donated some bells and I reached one million bells in my bank account!

Your current balance is 1,000,000 bells.I bought Benedict’s medicine and delivered it to him.

I then saw Phineas walking around, so I went up to him and asked for a badge. He gave me the Avid Bell Saver badge, which clearly is a result of saving a million bells.

I got the Avid Bell Saver badge! I think I've got the hang of this whole saving thing! Before I finished up, I was determined to catch two football fish: one for Kidd and one for the museum. While I was on the beach, I found a lost item. But the football fish were my top priority, and eventually, I caught them both.

I caught a football fish! Thanks to my fishing tackle!I donated one and gave the other one to Kidd. He rewarded me with a pine chair. (I was hoping for his picture, naturally). Before long, I found out that the lost item belonged to Molly. She rewarded me with a blue flannel shirt…exactly like the one I was wearing.

Molly: Thank you so much! Please take my blue flannel shirt as a token of my appreciation. That’s all for tonight, but I’ll be back with more tomorrow! In the meantime, I’ll leave you with this slideshow of New Leaf pictures taken in the month of October:

Improving My HHA Score

Yesterday, I took inventory of the furniture in my sleek room to see if I had the complete set. It turns out I was two items short, so I went up to a former SpotPass home in the Happy Homes Showcase to order them; they arrived today. Now I should have the whole set.

My room full of sleek furniture.Outside, Molly gave me a quick survey from a magazine and said I needed a book called Good Turnip, Rotten Turnip to be happy. Amazon doesn’t seem to have this book in stalk stock yet, but I’m sure it will turnip soon.

Molly: What you need to achieve lasting happiness is a book called Good Turnip, Rotten Turnip.Teddy was talking about how you can wear wet suits to swim in the ocean. He felt bad because none of the wet suits available would fit him.

Teddy: But I don't think they make a wet suit that can contain my muscular form.He then asked if he could come over to my house later. We agreed to meet up at 5:00. When the time came, he came in…and called me Mom?? I’m not the momma!

Teddy: I'm sleepy...and hungry too! Mom, where's my food? The top Happy Homes Academy rewards are triggered once you hit 150,000 HHA points. And that’s a new goal of mine now. That’s why I made sure I had the full sleek set earlier. It’s also why I plan on keeping the full creepy and spooky sets in my house for a while longer, even though Halloween is over.

I went up to see Lyle at Nook Homes to see my current score. As of this morning, it was 107,349 points.

Lyle: Evaluatin'. Tabulatin'. Name of the game. Just the interior. Bang! My crew says...107,349 points! It should definitely jump by tomorrow now that I’ll have the full sleek set, but I don’t know how much. But Lyle continued on, giving me some tips and telling me what helps. Apparently the picture of Molly (and presumably the other villager pics as well) gives me some bonus points.

Lyle: Bang! Your Molly's pic! Says a lot about you! You and Molly. Seems you're pals.He did warn me that the bonus only applies as long as I remain friends with that animal. So apparently if I start ignoring someone (Tabby?), I will lose that bonus. He also informed me that hard-to-find items will score higher, as will refurbished furniture. Good to know.

Luna informed me that Matthew from Hocotate was my most recent dream visitor. So hello to Matthew if you’re reading this!

I’ll leave you with one tip I’ve run across on some forums. This may be considered a slight spoiler about the harvest festival (Thanksgiving) for later this month, so you may want to skip the next paragraph if you don’t want to hear it.

Okay, here’s the tip. You know the mushrooms that you’re finding on the ground all month? You may want to save several of each kind in your storage. That’s because they will be used in recipes at the harvest festival. This is going to be quite different from the harvest festivals on GameCube and Wii. But start saving them up now if you want to do well at the festival.

Anyway, I did a little fishing and diving to try for more of the new November catches, but I didn’t score any tonight. Well, that’s all I have for today, but I hope to see you back here again soon. Thanks for reading!
