Labor Day

After starting up the game today, I soon saw Phineas! He gave me two new badges: Fish Encyclopedia and Pro Diver.

I got the Pro Diver badge! It's proof I've found a TON of things in the sea!And today is Labor Day in the U.S., so Isabelle was over by the town tree handing out picnic baskets.

Isabelle: It's a picnic basket! Please take it in celebration of this nice, relaxing Labor Day!This is what it looks like:

The picnic basket I got from Isabelle on Labor Day.I was going to work a shift at the cafe, but because of the holiday, Brewster wouldn’t let me work. Still, I saw Tabby talking about how hard it is for her to be so awesome. Awesome? Her? I was speechless.

Tabby: Being this awesome can be, like, exhausting! But a cup of coffee really keeps me going, you know? And back outside, Aurora came up to me and asked me what temperature peanut brittle should be served at. How would I know? I’m the peanut butter guy, not the peanut brittle guy!

Aurora: Maybe I'm just serving it at the wrong temperature. But what temperature should I serve it at?!Then I ran into Canberra, who told me she’d never be able to forget my face. Sadly, I’ll never be able to forget hers either.

Canberra: Hmm. We meet a lot, huh? I'll probably never be able to forget your face now! What am I?!And in the Able Sisters, Teddy told me he was shopping for clothes that absorb lots of sweat. Uhh…

Teddy: I wonder if I can find the kinds of clothes I like--the ones that absorb the most sweat! Grooof!Later on, I had intended to pitfall Tabby. But she was hiding. Even her door sign practically dared me to find her.

Sign on door: Out playing! Come find me! -TabbyAnd this evening, I opened my gate for a little while. Wendy and Aimee came over to visit. Hannah was also trying to come, but she kept getting connection errors. Sorry Hannah, we’ll try again sometime. Then, Lindsey also came to town. We took some pictures at the Labor Day face-cutout standee.

Using the face cutout standee for Labor Day.Using the face-cutout standee for Labor Day.Aimee, who was dressed up as Link, wasn’t saying anything for a while, so we were wondering what was going on. But eventually, we found her.

Jeff, standing next to Aimee: Found the missing Link! And in the shop, I didn’t want anyone getting the wrong idea. Big Top is not for sale! If I see anyone luring him with a bag of peanuts, there’s going to be some trouble!

Jeff, standing next to Big Top in the store: Big Top is not for sale. :PAfter hanging out in my house for a while, we headed off to the island. I really like this quote from Kapp’n.

Kapp'n, singing: Well, life be like crossin' the ocean wide. We're all on this ride. Together we sail!At the island, we caught some fish and bugs for a while, and then we did a couple of tours. We did a toy hammer tour and a market-value bug-catching tour.

The four of us having fun with toy hammers on an island tour. After that, we returned to Forest and I sold my catches. I ended the party for the night. Thanks to all who came (and tried to come)! After that, I took one more look for Tabby. She was nowhere in town! But I eventually found her in the museum, hiding amongst the fossils.

Tabby, in the fossil room: Hurt me plenty! Do you, like, need me for anything?Your days above ground are numbered, Tabby. I will hurt you plenty, and I’ll bury you. It’s just a matter of time…

Full-Moon Vanity

It’s the start of a new month, and that means there is new DLC to download. So I headed up to the post office to ask Pelly about the new item for this month. She gave me the full-moon vanity.

Pelly: Sorry to keep you waiting! I hope you enjoy your new full-moon vanity!Since the full-moon vanity is a regular DLC (and not a Nintendo Zone exclusive), it can be re-ordered for a cost of 4,360 bells.

Full-moon vanity DLC: 4,360 bells.Even though the mirror eclipses obstructs the view, the yellow part is a full moon. That fact is obvious when you view the full moon from behind.

The back view of the full moon vanity, which shows the craters of the full moon. But the new month also brings new bugs and fish. So late last night, and again today, I did some fishing, bug-hunting, and diving. I caught several of the new catches including the cricket, bell cricket, red dragonfly, oyster, and clam.

Later on, I went into my house for something, and Benedict came in unexpectedly.  I set the 3DS down for a minute because I was checking something online. And barely a minute later, Benedict had to leave. I guess he didn’t like being ignored.

Benedict: Oh, wow! How'd it get so late?Anyway, I know the robust statue that Wendy bought from Crazy Redd in her town yesterday was fake. How do I know? Because the moving painting I bought turned out to be real. Sorry, Wendy! 😛

Moving painting title: The Birth of Venus. And back in town, Alli finally told me what two other animals already had: That she was moving out of town. I didn’t try to stop her. I don’t dislike her or anything, but she’s not one of my favorites either. Let’s get some fresh faces in Forest. As long as they don’t look like Tabby or Canberra, that is.

Alli: So I'm moving out of Forest on the 4th of this month. I hope you understand, kiddo. And after a diving session, Tabby approached me, wanting to give me a new nickname. She wanted to call me “pookie.”  ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? No, you can not call me Pookie!

Tabby: OK, here it is! "Pookie"! Snappy, right? That’s all for today, but I’ll see you next time!

Two Fake Paintings From Rolf

Gracie was in town today, looking for iconic styles. I knew I didn’t have a chance, so I didn’t even waste my time.

Gracie: Totally iconic! There was a gem rock today, and it spit out four gold nuggets for me! I also had two in storage, so that meant I had enough for two gold items. I took the first three to Cyrus, but of course it takes half an hour for him to finish them.

Today's gem rock haul.In the meantime, I went to talk to Rolf. He offered to sell me a dynamic painting for 3,528 bells. I jumped at the offer.

Rolf: Before I knew it, I had spent a ton of money on this crazy-looking dynamic painting...I talked to him again, and to my surprise, he offered me another painting! So I bought the famous painting as well.

Rolf: Before I knew it, I had spent a ton of money on this crazy-looking famous painting...I was hoping for even more, so I kept talking to him. He didn’t offer any more paintings, but he did ask me for a catchphrase. So I told him to say “up a tree.”

Rolf: Whoa, easy now, Jeff. Deep breaths... OK. Now tell papa what's up, up a tree. And then he did something I never would have expected: He called Gracie a big old granny giraffe! Wow!

Rolf: That reminds me! What's up with that big ol' granny giraffe in the event plaza? He even said she seems unstable and that he hoped she didn’t hurt him!

Anyway, after that, I talked to Molly over by the bridge. She told me that Alli was thinking of moving away.

Molly: I was talking to Alli not long ago, and she mentioned she was thinking about moving...Next, I went up to the museum. Both of the paintings I got from Rolf were fakes! I think I’m going to go hunting and chase Rolf, up a tree.

I then returned to Re-Tail to get my golden item (and to give Cyrus the next three gold nuggets). The first item turned out to be a golden wall.

The golden wall I got from Cyrus at Re-Tail.I put my 3DS in sleep mode for a while until it was time for the other piece to be done. When I returned, Cyrus gave me the bad news. My other item was another golden clock! He’s given me four of these now! Aggggghhhhh!

Another golden clock that Cyrus has made for me at Re-Tail.After 8:00, I went up to Main Street so I could watch K.K. perform at Club LOL. But on the way, I spotted Yuka and Big Top…on a date!

Big Top and Yuka on Main Street, standing next to each other and looking at each other, apparently on a date.Inside the club, K.K. performed K.K. Jongara for me.

K.K. performs some live music for me.After that, Wendy opened up her gate so that I could sell my perfect peaches in her town. I stopped to take a picture of her flower arch.

The flower arch PWP in Wendy's town. Also, Crazy Redd was in her town. Wendy had already purchased a robust statue. But like me, she doesn’t use a guide to see what’s real or not. So I took a chance on buying a moving painting.

Redd: I see! Ya seem to be really close to that moving painting, yeah?I’ll find out tomorrow if it’s real or fake. If it is indeed a forgery, that will mean I purchased three fake paintings in one day. Yikes.
