Two New Catches

Late last night, I caught my first house centipede.

I caught a house centipede! Make yourself at home--in my net!And as Wendy came over to shop, Harry stood on Timmy’s manhole cover.

Harry stands on a manhole at the store. So I bought the manhole cover from right under his feet. Somehow.

Animated GIF showing the manhole being purchased out from under Harry's feet. Then today, I went in to check on my newly expanded modern wood room. It looks much better now.

My expanded modern wood furniture room. And I smashed my fake rock as Wendy looked on.

Wendy watches me crush today's fake rock with my shovel.Over at the campsite, I had a camper for the second day in a row. Today, Anchovy was camping out. But I had a feeling he was going to order himself a pizza after I left his tent.

Anchovy: I'm here camping in town, so you'll be seeing me around for a bit!Back outside, Alli insulted my fashion sense! Yeah, maybe I don’t have any, but it’s still rude!

Alli: Strike three, kiddo. That look is OUT. I mean, where what you want, but...graaagh.Big Top wanted some furniture. I had a crucian carp in my pockets, so I gave him that. He seemed to like his new friend, although he didn’t know where it would sleep.

Big Top: Hmmmmm... Where will Mr. Crucian carp sleep?
With the fishies? In the water perhaps? Just a wild guess.

Then tonight, I opened my gate at 10:00 for Friday Night Forest. Wendy and Dash came over to visit. Nobody was saying much, so I was just doing some fishing. And then I saw Dash, from across the river, dancing the Shrunk Funk Shuffle on the river bank. Weirdo. 😛

Dash dancing the Shrunk Funk Shuffle on the other side of the river. And after a while, I caught what I was looking for: a soft-shelled turtle! It’s my first one.

I caught a soft-shelled turtle! Don't suffer shell shock! As soon I was typing out that I caught a turtle, Taylor came over. So we had a full house, and we headed off to the island. We started off with a butterfly-catching tour.

You caught a tiger butterfly! Nice catch! We also went on an item-matching tour.

Tortimer: For your superb performance, you've earned a Silver Tortimer award and 5 medals. Our third and final tour was called “Ancient-Fish Encoun-tour,” where we had to catch coelacanths and arapaimas. Overall, I did the worst at the tours. After we were done, we did some fishing and bug-catching on the island.

When we returned to Forest, I sold my catches and earned about 72,000 bells. Before too long, Dash and Taylor were leaving, so I just ended the party then.

Today was my 122nd day with Animal Crossing New Leaf, and my 122nd consecutive day with a blog entry. Eventually, on a day where not much happens, I may skip a day. 😛 But days-off will still be very rare, so keep checking back every day for the latest happenings in Forest. And have a great weekend, everyone!

Canberra Moves In

Last night, Wendy let me visit her town to sell my perfect peaches. While I was there, I stopped to take a look at her fairy tale town hall.

Wendy's fairy-tale town hall. Then tonight, I checked my mail and found that Gulliver sent me a pagoda from Japan. And here is a look at my new stainless mailbox:

My stainless mailbox on my house. It wasn’t long before Molly started asking me about my pagoda! She wanted to trade a daisy tee for it. No way!

Molly: Oh... OK, I guess I'll just look for my own pagoda. Maybe I'll get lucky in my search. There was a camper over at the campsite tonight…it was Dotty. Uhh, no thanks.

Dotty: Hey! Look, I know it's kinda sudden, but I've decided to set up camp here. And soon, I made my way over to the new house in town. My new villager moved in today. Say hello to Canberra. ♪ Isn’t she lovely? ♪

My new villager, Canberra the koala.I’ll have to introduce her to my hammer sometime soon. And I’ll give her some nice seeds, too. Pitfall seeds, that is. At any rate, I have updated my town page to reflect her unfortunate presence in Forest.

I eventually made my way up to the museum to add the pagoda to my World Wonders exhibit of Gulliver items. The room is filling up quite nicely.

My collection of Gulliver items. After that, I had enough money to pay off my debt to Tom Nook. So he will be expanding my right (modern wood) room tomorrow morning.

Tom Nook: The work will be fully completed by tomorrow morning. I'm so sure you must be very excited, yes, yes!

Koala Karma

Today, my white mailbox was installed on my house. It fits my astro theme better than my old red one did. It’s too bad there’s not an astro mailbox, though.

My new white mailbox on my house.Copper told me that there was a storm brewing off the coast, which means Gulliver will be washed up on the shore. So I headed down to the beach and found the confused gull.

Gulliver: Huh, I'm actually very confused at this exact moment. He told me he was headed to the land of ninjas and samurais. Clearly, he was headed to Japan.

Gulliver: You're really amazing! Perhaps you have a link to the past with that country or something? And then I found a construction site where a new villager is moving in. It’s going to be Canberra’s house.

Sign: This spot reserved for Canberra's new home. -Nook's HomesA quick Google search revealed that Canberra is a koala. And an ugly koala at that. Now just two days ago,  I was bad-mouthing the koalas in Animal Crossing games, saying they’re not cute like real koalas and I don’t like them. And now I get an ugly koala of my own. I guess that’s koala karma. And I should mention that Canberra is named after an Australian city, much like other Animal Crossing koalas Sydney, Melba (Melbourne), and Alice (Alice Springs).

Anyway, I soon headed up to Main Street. Gabi and Tabby were again hanging out together; I tried to avoid them as much as possible. Nook Homes had this stainless mailbox for sale. Even though I just got my white mailbox today, I figured this one would match my astro exterior even better, so I went ahead and bought it.

Tom Nook: That stainless mailbox is a sample used when replacing your mailbox, yes?And the Able Sisters had this spade shirt for sale. The spade itself is blue, so it still matches my cap and shorts, so I bought it as well.

Mabel: Oh my, you look marvelous! In Labelle’s portion of the shop, there was a fencing mask for sale. I sprung for it, even though I don’t have immediate plans of using it. I could see it coming in handy during a Wi-Fi game, like if one person is the “killer” or if I want to hide my face because of a bee sting.

Labelle: Oh wow! So sporty and so wonderful!Molly wanted to visit my house, so we arranged a time. When the time came, I gave her a tour of all my rooms. She really liked my sleek bed.

Molly: What a nice sleek bed you have. Perfect for diving deep into dreamland! And in my modern wood room, she was barely through the door when she smelled my pumpkin pie and commented on it.

Molly: I took one look at your pumpkin pie, and I'm suddenly very hungry. My “fake rock” for the day gave me a gold nugget. I had two in storage already, so I took the three of them to Cyrus at Re-Tail. He turned them into a golden table.

Take home the golden table? And Alli suggested a new public works project (PWP) today. Unfortunately, it was just a streetlight.

Alli: You know, like... Like, well... A streetlight! It didn’t sound very exciting to begin with, but it looks even worse than I imagined.

Streetlight PWP: 42,800 bells. And later, I remembered that I never showed a picture of the jungle gym that Big Top suggested a couple weeks ago. So here’s a picture of that.

Jungle gym PWP: 69,800 bells. That’s all for now, but I’ll be back with more tomorrow. And remember, August is winding down, so you only have a few days left to catch a lot of the summer bugs and fish. Good luck and happy hunting!
