Monday was Explorer’s Day (Columbus Day in the U.S.), and Isabelle was at the event plaza to hand out sailboat models.

I also stuck my face through the standee to sail with Kapp’n and two headless peeps.

Lolly asked me for a butterfly, so I went to the dock box and grabbed an emperor butterfly. I took it back to her, and she said it looked like me!

She then gave me a shower stall for my trouble. Wait, is she saying I stink? Right after saying I look like a butterfly? 😛

Last night, around 1 a.m., I spotted a monarch butterfly! I did have my 3DS in sleep mode since the afternoon, so that could explain why it was still out so late (even though I did walk halfway across town before I saw it). But the weirdest part was that it kept flying by the street lamp. Did it think it was a moth???

The fishing tournament was held today, but as usual, I played too late to participate…or even attend the winners’ ceremony. However, I saw the results on the bulletin board: Vivian got 1st place, Aurora got 2nd place, and Rolf finished in 3rd. However, Vivian was unaware that she won!

I caught a flea that was on Vivian, and Rolf really seemed to want it. He gave me a relay tank for it.

And I found Boots’ secret lair…in a river! Actually it was just in his house.

Last Friday, Lolly asked me to dig up her time capsule.

So I dug it back up and took it to her. There was a green tie-dye tank inside, along with a letter that she wrote herself. She thanked me for returning it, and she gave me a regal lamp for my trouble.

On Monday, Lolly asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek. I agreed, and I had ten minutes to find her, Boots, and Bones.

The first one I found was Boots. He was trying to hide behind the Sphinx, but he was standing behind the front paws…which provide absolutely no cover at all. 😀

Next, I found Lolly behind a house. And wouldn’t you know it, Bones was the last one standing. How fitting; I always have trouble finding Bones! I eventually found him down on the beach.

Lolly presented me with a boxing barricade for winning the game.

After the game, I ran into Jack. He prepped me for the Halloween festivities on the 31st, telling me how it all works. Of course, I already knew the details. He also gave me a werewolf hood.

When I put the day’s money into the bank, my balance reached 110 million bells.

Today (October 3rd) is Big Top’s birthday. I gave him a dharma as a present. He didn’t seem thrilled with it, but he later said it was awesome (even though I could tell he didn’t mean it). Vivian was also at his party to help him celebrate.

Big Top couldn’t wait to get his trunk into that cake.

Back outside, Bones told me he was obsessed with getting a flea. That’s probably the opposite of most dogs.

He offered me his whole life savings–70 bells–for one that I caught off of Lolly. I went ahead and sold it to him; I sure didn’t have a need for it.

And last but not least, I delivered a leftover wet suit to Onyx.

Tonight was the night of the autumn moon (better known as the harvest moon). Isabelle was at the event plaza to hand out wheat bundles for the occasion.

When I spoke to her again, she said she’d like to snuggle the moon every night if it was a great big pillow. It’s not a great big pillow, Isabelle, but your imagination rocks.

There was also a faceboard up for the occasion, so I stuck my face through the hole and became a scarecrow. You can also see the moon behind me.

Villagers in town were also talking about the moon. My favorite moon quote of the night was Lolly’s, when she said she wanted to put a few drops of moonlight in a jar for later.

There was one other moon-related note I want to share, but this one is apparently just a big coincidence. T&T Emporium had a spotlight item today, and it happened to be…the moon!
