Wendell’s First Appearance

Tonight, I spotted Wendell the walrus in town for the first time. As in the other games, he is starving and he asks for food.

Wendell: Belly... So empty... Feels like a black hole...I gave Wendell a barbel steed, and it soothed his starving stomach. He thanked me and rewarded me with a pattern called “road 4 pattern.” Even though I don’t currently plan on putting paths in my town, these road patterns could be a possibility if I change my mind at some point in the (distant) future.

The road 4 pattern I got from Wendell in exchange for a barbel steed. When I went in to visit Alfonso, he was all packed up and ready to move out of town. I did not try to stop him. He’s okay, but I wouldn’t mind getting someone new around here.

Alfonso: I know this is sudden, but I've decided to move away. Don't try to stop me.I also visited Baabara, and she told me she likes guys with mustaches.

Baabara: Like with facial hair. I love moustaches! I think they make guys look super tough. She even said a mustache might help me out. Wait…is she calling me ugly? And does she expect me to change to please her? But that would look weird to see facial hair in an Animal Crossing game, wouldn’t it?

Baabara: It might even help you in that department. Try it! GO! GO!Outside, I ran into Yuka. She tried to sell me an A shirt for 570 bells. I declined the offer.

Yuka: Hey, Dr. J. Do you have any interest in my A shirt? Then she said something interesting. She said no matter how much time passes, she can’t forget him.

Yuka: Oh, no... No matter how much time passes, I can't forget him!Who is the “him” in that sentence? Wait a minute…could it be Alfonso? His name starts with A. Did they break up? Is that why he’s leaving?

Anyway, she gave me another chance to buy the shirt, and I declined once again. She then gave it to me for free.

Static was still sick with a cold, but sadly, the store was closed once again. Even though it’s Nook ‘n’ Go, it still closes at 11 p.m. in Wild World.

Static: You're nothin' but a junior varsity virus. Ooooooghh... HACKGH HACKGH HACKGH!At this point, I decided to shake some trees to find some money, gifts, and bees. I found a few of each: I got some money bags, a few furniture items (including an ebony piano), and a couple of bees. The first bee stung me, but I caught the second one! After getting my net out, I just jammed on the A button and caught it! Woohoo!

I caught a bee! I'm so happy...I donated the bee to my museum, along with a bell cricket and pill bug I caught.

I heard a lone shooting star as I played, but I didn’t see it at the time. The display settings I use on Wii U make the upper DS screen small on the TV, so things on the top screen aren’t as noticeable. But my capture device caught a peek at it. I think I’m supposed to tap the screen while it’s flying by, but I didn’t think of it at the time. Hopefully I’ll remember next time.

A shooting star flies by in Animal Crossing: Wild World.I saw a bug on a tree that I haven’t caught yet. But as I got my net out, Yuka started walking right towards it, pushing me in the process. I was afraid she would scare it away, so I had to rush my move for the bug, and I missed. The controls don’t seem as precise in Wild World as they do in other games.

I miss a bug as Yuka interferes.

Yuka sorely needs a trip to Pitfallville. Booker didn’t have any pitfall seeds today, but I’ll keep checking!

I searched for another one of those tree bugs for a while, but I was unable to snag one. Maybe next time.

Golden Shovel

I dug up the shovel I buried last night, and indeed, it has turned into gold! A golden shovel, at least. Thanks to zeldaknowitall on Youtube for reminding me about this.

I got the golden shovel! What does it do?

I got a letter about the fishing tourney yesterday, congratulating me on my gallant efforts…even though I lost.

Nice effort, Jeff! You may not have won the contest, Jeff, but your gallant efforts won our hearts. See?! October 23rd TourneyInterestingly, the letter itself didn’t say who it was from. But the envelope said “From the Mayor.” So I guess I won Tortimer’s heart. Lucky me.

I spoke with Yuka, and she’s still asking me for chic furniture! She first asked me on October 15th, which was 9 days ago! I thought she would give up after a week, but that’s not the case. Hahaha, I don’t care how long it takes, I’m not going to help her. 😀

I ran into Bill outside of town hall tonight, so he did not move away after all. But it didn’t long for me to wish I would have let him go. First, he basically asked me if I was getting fat.

Bill: Hey, aren't you a little... Are you putting a little chub on, quacko? He accused me of blowing off his training regimen, to which I said “No I didn’t.” Then, he flat out called me a LIAR.

Bill: LIAR! You LIE, Jeff! And lying is almost as bad as getting chubbed out!He then said if I had been doing 100 ab-slaps a day, my stomach wouldn’t be so bulgy. Not only that, but he walked away steaming mad at me! Wow, the rudeness is off the charts.

Bill: If you were doing 100 ab-slaps a day, your belly wouldn't be so bulgy! He just made himself a new enemy. Baabara and Yuka can wait. Bill was practically begging for my pitfall seed. So I planted it and showed him the way. Six feet closer to where he can go.

Bill struggling to get out of a pitfall.I wanted him to suffer as long as possible, so I didn’t talk to him right away. I let him struggle for a few moments. But then he flipped out of the pitfall on his own. As soon as he did, I ran over and talked to him. But surprisingly, he wasn’t mad!

Bill: Hey, wassup, night owl? It's gotten pretty dark, huh, quacko. It’s an understatement to say I was disappointed. He deserves to suffer more than this. This isn’t over, duckboy!

I visited Static, and he was sick with a cold. Unfortunately, Nook’s shop was already closed, so I couldn’t buy him any medicine. I’ll have to get him some next time.

Static: Orggggggghh. I feel nasty. I think I'm gonna toss my chimichangas! At town hall, I made a 25,000 bell mortgage payment. I still owe Tom Nook 75,000 bells, though. I then headed up to the museum to donate a ptera body fossil and a cricket.

Pate asked me for a good name for her pet fish, and I chose Swimmy.

Pate: So, Jeff, do you know any good fish names? (Sweetie - Fido - Swimmy - Gill Boy - Fillet)But for some reason, she hated my suggestion and called it lame-o! Then don’t ask my opinion next time! What’s with all the ducking rudeness today?

Pate: What?! No way! I mean, sorry and all, but that's pretty lame-o.I then made a delivery, taking a night sky tee from Chevre to Baabara. Chevre rewarded me with 510 bells for helping her out. After that, I headed home and ended my game for the night. Maybe everyone will be in a better mood next time.

My First Fishing Tourney

The fishing tourney was held today, so I made sure to play before the tournament ended at 6:00. Tortimer was outside of town hall, and told me the rules. Whoever catches the biggest fish wins. The surprising part for me was that Tortimer–not Chip–was the judge! Chip hosts the event in all other Animal Crossing games.

Tortimer: Fishing time! Grab your rods!Tortimer: I'll measure it for you.

So I began fishing. Once I caught a sea bass, I took it up to Tortimer. It was 45.8 inches long. But that wasn’t good enough; Alfonso had caught a 59.9 inch coelacanth! Wait, it’s not even raining. How could he catch a coelacanth? Wow, this fishing tourney is rigged!

Tortimer: Alfonso already caught a coelacanth that was 59.9 inches.

I did catch and donate some new types of fish today, including a black bass, a cherry salmon, and an octopus. With each fish, Blathers discusses his favorite ways to cook it.

Blathers: That said, I have to say my all-time favorite has to be octo-potpie. Hoo hoo!

I caught several more sea bass, but none of them came close to Alfonso’s 59.9 inch coelacanth. So I ended up losing the fishing tourney, and Tortimer instantly disappeared from outside of town hall once 6:00 rolled by.

That's it for the Fishing Tourney! Great job, everybody!

Chevre was outside, trying to get me to buy her exquisite rug for 2,700 bells. I wasn’t interested, but the odd thing was the choices I had: “I’ll take it” or “That’s cool.” Since when does “that’s cool” mean no?

Chevre: So what do you say? Want to buy it for 2,700 bells, it'sa me? (I'll take it.) (That's cool.)

Since I was playing earlier than usual, I spotted some bugs I haven’t caught yet. So I nabbed a migratory locust, long locust, and red dragonfly, and donated them to the museum.

When I visited Baabara, she asked me what kind of makeup boys like (on girls). I told her clown makeup, but she said she’s afraid of clowns. I should introduce her to Pietro. 😉

Baabara: I guess a really cute girl could pull it off...maybe. But I'm scared of clowns.

In Able Sisters, I had a chat with Sable, and she felt bad that she never has time to make me any coffee. She would like to sit and chat with me, if she could.

Sable: But I never even have time to make you any coffee!

I checked the lost-and-found today, and Booker finally had a pitfall seed for me! But since Yuka and Baabara were both indoors, I decided to save it for another day. 🙂

A pitfall seed in the lost and found.

Bill was also indoors today, but for a different reason. He’s packing up and ready to move out of town! I told him not to go, and then he said he lost his passport. Does that mean he can’t move out now? I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

Bill: Oh, no! I'm such an IDIOT! I lost my passport!

Tom Nook had a shovel for sale, and I bought it (even though I already own one). I buried it near my house, so I should end up with a golden shovel tomorrow!

Here is a video that shows events from the past few days:
