Pete, Bob, & A Balloon

I played the game briefly in late April, and I learned that Huck had moved out of town. His replacement was Dizzy, but Dizzy was passed out (well, sleeping) when I went to his house. I didn’t do much else, because I was really only playing to see which villager moved in. I was hoping for Woolio (for a video I’ll include later in this entry), but I later got him in another town (Aja Blu).

Fast forward to today, when I got Dizzy’s goodbye letter in the mail (even though I didn’t actually get to meet him). I also got a couple of fossils back in the mail. As I closed the mail menu, Pete flew overhead and dropped by!

Pete flies into the acre.

He landed, looked around, and then immediately took off again before I went over to talk to him. I didn’t even plan on witnessing this today, I just happened to be playing right at 5:00 p.m. As he flew away, I tried to follow him until he flew too high (above the “camera”).

Pete looks large on-screen as he flies high above town.

I was quite surprised when I found Dizzy’s replacement: Bob!

Bob: Hi! Top o' the evening to ya! Did you come to deliver me a nice, tasty dinner? Yuk yuk!

For those who aren’t aware, Bob is one of my favorite villagers in the series. I think he has lived in Forest once or twice before, but not in the past eight years, at least (this blog started in 2011). He did live in my second town of Ohio not too long ago, though.

He asked if I had been in his house trying to move his furniture around. This was the first time I had seen him, so obviously it wasn’t me. But then again, nobody could actually move his furniture anyway.

Bob: Not that it can be moved or anything. Yeah, you heard me right. I got it all taken care of.

At Nook’s shop, I bought myself a snowcone shirt for summer. Of course, I forgot to put it on until I was almost done for the day, but here’s a pic of it when I tried it on.

Timmy: Would you care to try it on?

I spotted a blue balloon present, and I followed it until it got stuck in a tree. I found a tumbleweed inside! Who would wrap up a tumbleweed like a present?

A balloon present gets caught in a tree in Animal Crossing on Nintendo GameCube.

I ran into Bob again, and he gave me an apple (a foreign fruit) for free! What a guy!

Bob: Whoa! You don't mind that I found it on the ground? That's where bugs live!
I’m going to sell it, not eat it.

After speaking with all of my villagers, I stopped by the post office, checked out the dump (nothing good today), and returned home.

Since my last blog entry, I’ve posted two new Animal Crossing GameCube videos. The first one shows 43 villagers that still haven’t returned. It took me nine months of resetting and making temporary towns to find all of these villagers! Woolio in particular seemed to take me forever. Please check out the video; I’ve included a silly rhyme for each villager.

And I’ve also posted a new episode of GameCube Moments (#13). It includes a lot of clips of interesting things that happened in some of the temporary towns I made while making the video above (as well as some things from Forest and Ohio as well). I hope you enjoy!

  1. What time did Pete do that?? Has that ever happened before this? It’s never happened to me ever! (Probably because I’ve played the game since 2016)

    1. Yes, I’ve seen it before. It was right at 5:00 p.m., although he’ll also do it at 9:00 a.m. You just have to be in the acre by the houses right at the top of the hour. If he doesn’t have any mail to deliver though, he’ll take off right away as soon as he lands. If he does have mail, you can see him put it in the mailbox.

  2. I’ve only seen Pete at the post office so will need to keep an eye out if playing around 5.

My main town has gained Ostrich neighbours as well but one of them is Queenie so friendly encounters, like the one in the video, are few and far between.

    1. I’ve never really enjoyed Queenie in the GameCube version. I wonder how she’s friendly to you. She called me an idiot after she had a fight with Velma. However, she is nice in New Leaf (my sister has her).

      1. Weird. Queenie moved out the day after I posted this, seems she must be reading JVGS as well!

I like a turnover of Snooty villagers, the new ones seem a lot ruder, and funnier, until they get to know you.

  3. Enjoy Bob’s presence while you can, given Gamecube Forest’s track record. Then again, is he still in your “Mario Plays Animal Crossing” City Folk town?
