The Farmer’s Letter

It was storming when I played the game on Thursday afternoon. I promptly checked my mail and found a goodbye letter from Coco! I’m sad to see her go, but I can’t say I’m surprised.

Jeff, FYI: I recently decided to move for reasons I prefer not to go into. I can't tell you where I'm going, but I wills ay this: I won't forget you! Best of luck--to both of us! Goodbye! -Coco

However, I was certainly happy with her replacement: Mitzi the cute cat! She moved in next door to Maple, in the spot where Hank originally lived, many years ago.

Mitzi: So...are you new in town? How splendid! Would you... Uh... Would you like to be friends with me?

Mitzi last lived in Forest back in 2014. Welcome back, Mitzi! 😊

When I spoke with Static, he called me completely bonkers for not buying Saharah’s carpets…even though I never said such a thing. 😛

Static: Are you completely bonkers?! Saharah's carpets are exotic and just insanely rare! You can't buy them at the store.

Over by the wishing well, Ursala told me she doesn’t normally mind the rain unless it sticks around too long.

Ursala: I don't mind the rain, but it gets really annoying when it sticks around for too long.

And then she said it’s the same situation with me. Thanks a lot, Ursala.

Ursala: Jeff, the rain is a lot like you, actually, grooomph.

I really like Emerald’s umbrella; it looks like a giant flower walking around when she’s facing away from the camera. 😆

A giant flower...or is just Emerald holding an umbrella?

Behind Candi’s house, I spotted this huge fish shadow!

Trying to fish out a huge shadow.

Or at least, that’s what I thought. But it turned out to just be an old tire. Oof.

On Friday, Belle threatened to “whale into me.” All I did was talk to her, so I have no clue what she was mad about this time. 🤷

Belle: Hey, watch it, Speedy! If I didn't have like, lightning-quick reflexes, I would've whaled into you!

A bit later, I had a little argument with Candi. Since it happened on a bridge, and I just happened to be holding a net, I took advantage of the glitch that lets me push her into the river. It wasn’t planned or anything, honest! But now she’s in over her head. 😉

Candi, in the river: You can just forget about being friends with me, sweetie!

Yesterday, Baabara asked me for a walker cicada that I had caught moments earlier. She wanted it for her niece, and she offered me a staggering 2,680 bells for it! It’s not even a rare bug! I gladly agreed to the sale.

Baabara: Really? Why, thanks! I know I may seem aloof, but I'm a sucker for my niece... Here's your 2,680 bells.

I can’t imagine why Baabara was being so nice for a change. Maybe it was a glitch in the game too. 😉

There was a camper’s tent in town, and Sprocket the mechanical ostrich was inside. He wanted to play a game with me, but he would get all the money in my pockets if I lost. I had over 47,000 bells on me, so I was not about to risk that much!

Sprocket, at the campsite: But if you're wrong, then I get all the money you have on you!

I played again today (August 31st), and the last day of every month is raffle day. Even though I didn’t have any raffle tickets, I still like to go in and take a look at the prizes. An Arwing (the ship from Star Fox) was one of them. Pretty cool.

Tom Nook: ...Oh no! How unfortunate! You don't have five raffle tickets with you!

Rocco wanted to sell me a botanical shirt for 2,060 bells. He said it was too fancy for him, but he thought I’d like it because I’m a “trendy little wannabe.”

Rocco: It's too fancy-pants for me. You're sort of a trendy little wannabe, though, so it's probably right up your alley.

But I had no interest in paying 2k for a shirt! I declined the offer, and Rocco said he’d just take it over to Tom Nook’s store and sell it. Go ahead and try! Tom Nook isn’t buying anything today, and he would never pay anywhere near that amount for a shirt anyway!

Emerald showed me a weird letter she got in the mail, supposedly from a farmer who planted flowers all around Forest.

Tell me, Emerald... When I first came, there was nothing. The emptiness saddened me, and I bent my will to planting flowers. Is this village not better for my efforts? -From Farmer

That’s pretty interesting, and I really like the farmer’s choice of stationery too. Very fitting…but I wonder why the farmer didn’t stick around and put down some roots here?

I posted my latest GameCube Moments video today, so I hope you’ll check it out!

Peak ocean fishing season is right around the corner! I may have to give it a try early this September, so it may not be long until the next entry lands. I hope to see you again soon, and good luck fishing!
