It was snowing lightly when I started up the game today; that was a nice surprise. And thanks to the time of day, I was treated to the snowy version of the 5 p.m. theme. 😍
When I checked my mail, I found a goodbye letter from Wolfgang. The weird part is that I just got a goodbye letter from a different wolf yesterday in City Folk! Fang left me in ACCF, and Wolfgang left me here.
But the pleasant vibes didn’t last long. Moments later, Candi informed me that she was going to take my amber (one of my fossils I just got back in the mail) and there was nothing I could do about it. 😡
She offered me a cowhide rug or a playroom wall for it, but that’s not the point. I hate how villagers can just decide to take something from you. So I had to exact my revenge, by pushing her into the river. It’s a good thing that she lives next to this bridge!
Today is Sale Day (Black Friday, aka the day after Thanksgiving), so Tom Nook has some special grab bags up for sale.
The cost for each grab bag is equal to the current year, so they cost 2,025 bells apiece this year. That means the grab bags may be the only example of inflation in the Animal Crossing series (at least within one single game), where the price goes up every year. (Not that one bell a year is much.)
But I bought three grab bags (6,075 bells in total), and each one contains three items. Here’s what I got:
- Grab bag 1: puzzling shirt, parlor wall, red tile
- Grab bag 2: green lamp, classic clock, watermelon table
- Grab bag 3: kitschy wall, flame shirt, red tile
Unfortunately, there was nothing I really wanted…so I sold the stuff all back to Tom Nook. He paid me a total of 3,045 bells, which was almost exactly half of what I paid.
Back outside, Genji was talking about the snow. He even told me I should make a snowman! But there needs to be snow on the ground before I can do that!
Belle the cow showed me a letter she got from a tree enthusiast, and I enjoyed it for a few reasons…
First, there’s the nice accidental rhyme (Live well, Belle). And the descriptive language about life’s “creamy middle” almost sounds like a piece of chocolate…perhaps milk chocolate. And the clouds on the stationery matched the clouds on my misty shirt.
Baabara asked me for a new catchphrase to replace “daahling.” After some thought, I told her to say “I’m fluffy.” She didn’t seem to trust me (I wonder why), but she had no choice. 😛
Another feature of Sale Day is the guaranteed appearance of Crazy Redd’s tent. While I briefly considered buying out all his stock to activate the disappearing Crazy Redd glitch, I quickly changed my mind when I saw his prices today.
Over in Acre B-1, I met up with Wolfgang’s replacement: Oxford the bull. He said it’s best to stay indoors on nights like this…even though he was standing out in the snow anyway.
He has lived in Forest before, back in 2013.
I met up with Tom over by the dump. He said the best thing about the fishing tournament is Chip, who he called a “raving lunatic beaver.” Wow!
Unfortunately, he didn’t elaborate on why he thinks Chip is such a raving lunatic. I would’ve loved to have heard some stories!
