Louie Moves In

If the air in Forest smells a bit cleaner, it’s because Stinky has moved out of town. I got his goodbye letter in the mail today.

Stinky's goodbye letter.I visited Maple in her house, and she asked about the amber I was carrying. She offered me 3,000 bells or a croton for it. Of course, I took the money!

Maple offers me money or a croton.Outside, the next animal I ran across was Static. Coincidentally enough, he also asked about a fossil I was carrying. Apparently I forgot to sell my fossils when I stopped by Nook’s earlier. He offered me 1,660 bells for my trilobite.

In Bea’s house, Bea told me I should explore Forest’s natural surroundings. She told me she loves going for walks. Of course you do, you’re a dog!

Bea: It's relaxing to take a walk.Down by the river, I found Bigfoot! Actually it was just Louie the gorilla; he’s my newest neighbor! Welcome to Forest, big guy.

Meeting Louie.Emerald wanted me to buy her lovely bed for 2,500 bells. I declined the offer, and she put on her sad face. That guilt trip isn’t going to make me change my mind, frogger.

Emerald: I'll stop pestering you. It’s Saturday night, so I headed to the train station to catch a song from K.K. Slider. I didn’t have any requests, so he performed Cafe K.K. for me. In the credits, I noticed Bill Trinen’s name as part of the game’s English translation team.

Cherry Blossom Festival 2015

I spoke with Genji today, and he was enjoying the sunshine. He especially likes it on his bum. Wait, what??

Genji: I like sunny weather, on my bum! After kicking a volleyball into the river and pulling some weeds, I headed over to the wishing well. Today is the final day of the cherry blossom festival, so I went to check it out. Belle, Sydney, Stinky, Ursala, and Candi attended the event. Of course, Tortimer was there also. He will hand out a pink tree model to players if it’s your first time attending the event.

Even though I have an old video of the event, it’s eight years old and the picture and audio quality isn’t all that great. So I recorded a new video of the event for 2015.

I enjoy the peaceful music that plays when you’re not at the event, and I equally love the relaxing atmosphere at the event. It’s nice to see animals laughing, dancing, drinking, and having a good time.

But still, Belle wasn’t in the mood for sharing.

Belle: This juice is mine! And Stinky kept complaining about Candi’s dancing. And yet no one complained about the underwear on Stinky’s head.

Stinky: Even I can dance better than that!I enjoyed my time at the event. It’s a shame that these party-type gatherings aren’t in later games. But on the other hand, I like that the GameCube game still has some unique events. If not for exclusive events like this, many people might overlook the GameCube game. And it’s a game that should not be overlooked.

New Dog in Town

I found a goodbye letter from Zoe the anteater in my mailbox today.

Zoe's goodbye letter. In Nookington’s, I decided to buy the moody blue shirt that was on sale for just 123 bells. It made me feel a little awkward though, changing my clothes with four eyes watching me…

Trying on the moody blue shirt. This was my first time playing since the snow melted last month, so it was good to see all of the green grass again. I was also pleased when I saw my newest neighbor, Bea. I like dog villagers a lot, and I rarely seem to get them. Welcome to Forest, Bea! Try not to bark at me too much.

Bea: Nice to meet you.Unfortunately, Belle asked me to help her with a maze in the back of her Nintendo Power magazine. These things can be long and boring, because you have to keep choosing “left” or “right” until she gets through the maze. It only took me five attempts this time, but the mazes are one of my least-favorite “conversations” in any Animal Crossing game.

Belle: Help me with this maze! When I spoke with Tom, he tried to sell me a pear. He started out by lying, telling me they don’t even grow in this town. Even though they’re not the native fruit, there are still several pear trees in town. He expected me to pay 1,380 bells for one, and naturally, I declined. Of course, he got angry and called me a cheap, no-fruit-buying bum.

Tom: You cheap no-fruit-buying bum!Over by the wishing well, Baabara told me she’s been having fun all day. She expected that news to make me happy. As if she’s the queen of the universe or something.

Baabara: It may please you to know I had fun all day.I had a lot of weeds to pull after not playing for five weeks, and I dug up quite a few fossils as well. After mailing away my fossils, I got to see Pete take off to deliver the mail. Unlike the newer games, where Pete just walks to deliver the mail, he actually flies on GameCube.

I’ll leave you with a picture of my Animal Crossing GameCube memory card 59.
