Valentine’s Day

Today is Valentine’s Day, and my female villagers sent me valentines in the mail. They also attached gifts to the letters. Here’s a list of what they all sent me:

  • Petunia: big dot shirt
  • Maple: yellow bolero
  • Sydney: flicker shirt
  • Candi: slot machine
  • Emerald: wet roadway sign
  • Ursala: kiddie dresser
  • Belle: bear pole

Yeah, what says “I love you” better than a slot machine or a wet roadway sign?

But my valentine from Belle was particularly creepy. It wasn’t just the words she used, but also the stationery she chose.

Belle's Valentine for me, sent on spooky paper. "Stay by my side forever!"After selling all my gifts (yes, how awful of me), I began my walk around town. Puck was telling me he’s been really hungry lately. He didn’t know if it was because of the cold temperatures or if he’s in love…

Puck: Maybe I'm in love!I found Candi inside an igloo, but she didn’t appreciate me being in there with her. How rude.

Candi: Seriously, take off and get some fresh air.Over by the wishing well, I saw Tortimer. At first, I thought it was because of Valentine’s Day. But he’s just going on vacation and he wants me to turn on the lighthouse for him while he’s gone. I’m not going to do it, at least not every day, so I’m sure he’ll be furious at me when he returns.

Tortimer: I'm going on vacation to this tropical island tomorrow.Near the top of my ramp, I met my new neighbor Mitzi. She accused me of giving her a heart attack just by saying hello. Whatever, you drama queen.

Mitzi: It's rude to startle a lady before you've met her.I then finished up my day by mailing some fossils away to be identified. I also pulled some weeds on the way back home.

Just one last note about the GameCube version of Animal Crossing. One advantage that often gets overlooked is that if you want to have two towns in this Animal Crossing game, all you need is two memory cards. To have two towns in New Leaf, you would need to buy a second copy of the game!

Goat Bye

I was going to meet Chevre the goat today, but she has already moved out of town! I got her goodbye letter in the mail; I like how she thanked me for all I’ve done for her when we never even met. Thanks for nothing!

Chevre's goodbye letter. There are only 14 villagers in town now, so that means her replacement has not moved in yet. I went to say hi to Petunia, and she was looking forward to Groundhog Day on Sunday.

Petunia: I'm finally going to see a real groundhog, moo la la!My pockets were full of stuff from last time, so I headed to Nook’s to sell it all. However, being the last day of the month, I couldn’t sell anything! Today was raffle day and I didn’t even have any raffle tickets. No prize for me!

Tom Nook: I'm terribly sorry! There was an igloo in town, so I stepped inside and saw Static. I played his games a few times to sell him some of the fossils in my pockets. I’m not sure how his prices compared to Nook’s, but I appreciated freeing up a couple of spots in my pockets regardless.

Static: I'll give you 1,230 bells. When I spoke with Tom, he told me that he was being chased by a bee and then fell into a pit near the post office! He seemed to suspect me, but he couldn’t prove it! I’m innocent, I tell ya!

Tom: Whoever did that is in for a world of hurt! After that, I went around pulling weeds–there were quite a few of them! After a quick stop at the post office, I returned home for the night. I’ll see you all next time!

First-Person Resetti

I started up the game tonight and got a goodbye letter from Mathilda, who has recently moved out of town.

Mathilda's goodbye letter. As I started my walk around town, I soon spotted an igloo. Puck was inside, warning me to keep out of his chowder. That’s a pretty big pot there, you can’t share a bowl?

Puck: Hands off the chowder if you know what's good for you!I played a few of his games, and at one point, he almost forgot his own name!

Puck: Wait a minute... My name is...Puck!I saw on my map that my new villager is Chevre the goat. However, she was already asleep! I’ll have to meet her next time (if she doesn’t move out of town before I play next).

Sign on Chevre's house: Sleeping. Come back another time.I then decided I was going to take a trip to the island. But as I was searching for my GameCube-GBA link cable, I must have stepped on the power cord to my Wii, accidentally unplugging it. So that meant I lost my progress for today. Granted, it was nothing important, but I did pull a lot of weeds. I reluctantly started the game back up, knowing I would have to face the wrath of Resetti. And boy, did I. For the first time that I could remember, he made me look at him right in the face. That’s right, it literally changed to a first-person view as he yelled at me!

Resetti: I'm gonna tunnel through your HOUSE!Here is a video of the encounter:

Anyway, I made my way out to the island and said hello to my islander, Ankha.

Ankha: It's been a really, really long time since I saw you!I also went into my island house, which is incredibly messy. I use it for storage of my Jingle furniture, igloo items (including my DUMMY), island items, and other miscellaneous crap.

My messy island home. Before I left the island, I talked to Ankha once again. She asked me if I could find her a white king.

Ankha: Have you ever seen a white king? She said she had been looking for one forever. I quickly got back on the boat and returned to Forest. It was getting late, so I didn’t bother re-pulling all my weeds. Instead, I just returned home for the night.
