Meeting Petunia

Blaire, the snooty squirrel, has already moved out of town. I got her goodbye letter when I started up the game today.

Blaire's goodbye letter.I wanted to see who her replacement was, so I checked my map and saw a new house in acre B-1. It belonged to another snooty animal, Petunia the purple cow.

Meeting Petunia. After introducing myself, I spoke with her a second time and she showed interest in my trilobite.

Petunia: You have an authentic trilobite! Don't try to hide it!She offered me a regal wall for it, but I declined. Trading a fossil for wallpaper is not a fair trade. So of course, she got mad that I turned her down.

Petunia: After I made a generous offer? You're so callous! After pushing her around a little bit, I resumed my late night walk around town. The daily glowing spot gave me 10,000 bells today. And at the wishing well, Baabara offered me her plaza tile for my plesio neck.

Baabara: You have an authentic plesio neck. Don't try to hide it!The conversation was identical to the one I had with Petunia earlier. I declined and continued on.

Over by the museum, I pushed a snowball into a hole. Later Animal Crossing games don’t let you do this; the snowball will break as soon as it hits the hole. Even though it serves no purpose, I just like doing weird things like this on GameCube. Just because I can.

Pushing a snowball into a hole.I then stopped at the post office and then returned home. I went into my basement and decided to play some NES Donkey Kong.

Playing Donkey Kong in Animal Crossing. The inclusion of NES games in Animal Crossing is one of the game’s best (and most overlooked) features. I played a few rounds of DK before ending my game for the night.

Blaire In, Midge Out

I got a goodbye letter from Midge in the mail today; she has recently moved out of town.

Midge's goodbye letter. Her replacement was Blaire, the snooty squirrel. She just moved out of my ACCF town last month.

Blaire: It's a pleasure to meet you!She seemed nice enough at first, but when I declined the offer to join her diving club, she got a bit nasty.

Blaire: Well you can sit around and bloat on the couch, for all I care!It was snowing in town tonight, and it looked quite pretty. Genji was trying to count the snowflakes, while Static advised me to make my way home before it turns into a blizzard. But Belle just thought the snow was romantic.

Belle: A snowy night. How romantic! But the snow didn’t stop Maple and Sydney from falling asleep outside.

Sydney: I can't believe this. What's my problem?I had quite a few weeds to pull, so I went around and found as many as I could. I then stopped at the post office to mail four fossils away, and then I headed for home. Static reluctantly saved my game for me.

Static: Great. Now I have to save your town data. What a pain.

Tis the Season

Christmas is coming, and it’s starting to show. Snow now covers the ground in Animal Crossing, and Christmas lights are now flickering on many of the trees in town. It’s making things look really nice.

Christmas lights on trees GIF. (Animal Crossing)Stella the purple sheep, who just recently moved into town, has already moved out. I got her goodbye letter in the mail today.

Stella's goodbye letter.I met up with Static near the bottom of the waterfall, and he wanted to play a game where he pretends to be Crazy Redd.

Static: BUT!You know, it’s the game where you’re forced to buy one of five items he has for sale.

Static: If you don't make your choice by the fifth piece, you'll be buying it whether you like it or not! This is one of those things I don’t like about the GameCube game. Fortunately, there will be one item that’s priced under 1,000 bells and that’s how I determine what to buy. This time, I ended up with an office desk for 560 bells.

Anyway, I went to meet my new villager Midge, but she was already asleep. What kind of animal is in bed by 9:00 p.m.? I don’t think her and I are going to see eye to eye.

Sign: Sleeping. Come back another time.Over by the wishing well, Hank was telling me how fun it is to cut trees down. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to picture a chicken holding an axe, let alone cutting down a tree.

Hank: It's so much fun! Whack whack whack...TIMBER!Once I completed my walk around town, I finished up by depositing some money into my bank account at the post office and mailing some fossils away. I then returned to the warmth of my home. Be sure to bundle up everyone, it’s cold out there!
