Walking at Night

It was snowing as I started up the game tonight.

Snow falling in town.I only had one letter in my mailbox, which seemed a bit odd. It was a goodbye letter from Gonzo.

Gonzo's goodbye letter. After a quick stop at the post office (ugh, Phyllis was there) to mail some fossils away, I walked through the snow to meet my new neighbor Groucho.

Groucho: They call me Groucho. Now who are you?I also talked to a few of my other neighbors.

Tom: I was just thinking about you, and here you are out creeping in the middle of the night. They seemed to object to me being out late at night, and yet they’re out walking around outdoors just the same as I am.

Static: YAAARGH! It's the ghost of Jeff! NOOOO!After pulling some weeds (and waking up Emerald), I headed for home.

Emerald: Please don't tell anyone about this! Promise me!

Sale Day

Today is Sale Day (also known as Black Friday or the-day-after-Thanksgiving), so I stopped by Nookington’s. Nook had lots of grab bags for sale, each one costing 2,012 bells.

Tom Nook: That's a grab bag. The price is 2,012 bells. Each grab bag contains three items. I bought three grab bags, but most of the items inside them were carpets or wallpapers. I did get a green pinwheel, though.

Holding a green pinwheel.Another thing that always happens on Sale Day is that Crazy Redd will be in town.

Redd: A customer! Don't be shy! Come on in!He had a ruby econo-chair, a white bishop, and a turntable for sale. I wasn’t interested in any of those.

Redd: Everything here is a rare find. It's crrrrazy!By the way, there is a cool glitch that only works on Sale Day. Crazy Redd can disappear from his spot in front of his tent, and reappear at another sign post, where he will then vanish into thin air. If you want to see a video of the glitch, click here.

I then ran into Gulliver on the beach.

Gulliver: What a great nap! What? It's 2012? So I've been asleep for over 150...Gulliver: ...minutes. Which seems like a long time when I put it that way.He gave me a Lady Liberty, which of course is a model of the Statue of Liberty. I wonder why this item wasn’t included in City Folk? Anyway, I finished pulling some weeds and stopped at the post office before I headed for home and ended my game.

Harvest Festival

Today is the Harvest Festival (aka Thanksgiving) in Animal Crossing.

Everyone... The Harvest Festival is about to begin!Unfortunately, Chief has moved out of Forest.

Chief's goodbye letter.I then went to meet my new neighbor Gonzo. This game has something that City Folk doesn’t have: Male koalas.

Gonzo: It's a pleasure meeting you, mate!I then made my way to the wishing well area, where all the tables are set up for the holiday. Genji was in charge of guarding the forks and knives this year.

Genji: I don't know why, but the knives and forks disappear every dang year.Emerald and Hank sat at one table. Was it for greens only?

Emerald: Food tastes better when you share it with friends.Robin and Sydney sat at the other table.

Robin: I wonder who will be cooking the main course this year. After swiping the knife and fork, I started searching for Franklin the turkey. Animals around town will give you clues.

Puck: I just saw this weird guy in this row, so watch out.I found Franklin and gave him the knife/fork, and received some harvest furniture in return. I made several trips back and forth and got several pieces of harvest furniture.

Franklin: All I've got is this harvest chair, but I'd like you to have it.Franklin: Oh, it's just you. Now I'm imitatin' chickens. Oh, the shame...Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
