Hopper the penguin has already moved out of town. I got his goodbye letter today.

I talked to Puck (another penguin) and he thought of a game for us to play. Sounds fun.

He told me to choose right or left. I chose right, and he informed me that that means I have to buy a playroom wall from him for 1,930 bells!

Still, I continued talking to many of my villagers. Genji hinted at Jack’s appearance for Halloween.

Static asked me for a new catchphrase to replace “krzzt.” I wasn’t sure what to tell him, but I eventually went with “on bread.” It made him sound like he’s offering to make me a sandwich.

I then saw a new house. It belonged to my new neighbor Ricky, a clown-nosed squirrel. He doesn’t seem very friendly.

I pulled some weeds, stopped at the post office, checked the dump, and then stopped at the train station. I let K.K. perform a song for me (he chose K.K. Jazz) before I headed for home.

Upon starting up the game this evening, I was greeted to a reminder that the harvest moon festival was underway.

On my way to the lake, I stopped at Nook’s. I forgot today was raffle day. I didn’t have any raffle tickets, and that’s too bad, because the prizes looked pretty good this time. A hamster cage, a NES game, and a Mario trophy. Sure beats a lovely kitchen.

Once I got to the lake, I saw Kody and Genji staring up at the moon.

I talked to them; Kody seemed to be glad Genji was there with him, but Genji was annoyed by Kody’s presence.

Mayor Tortimer was also in attendance, although he was only thinking about food.

Baabara was also there.

And finally, Candi was there as well. I stopped to watch the moon (or its reflection). The music playing at the festival is peaceful and relaxing. Part of the song actually sounds like the Christmas carol “Silent Night.” (The “sleep in heavenly peace” part).

I then went across the lake to watch the moon from the pier before I wrapped up my night in Forest.

Unfortunately (but predictably), Butch has moved out of town. I got his goodbye letter in the mail.

The autumn sports fair was held today. I didn’t wake up early enough for the first event (aerobics), but I joined in time for the second event, the foot race. In the first race, Belle defeated Genji–a cow outrunning a rabbit?? That’s udderly impossible!

Next up, it was Static against Sydney. Static won in a close race.

Maple was the ref who fires the starting pistol at the start of each race. It just doesn’t seem right seeing Maple firing a gun. This is Animal Crossing!

I then went to meet my new neighbor, Hopper the penguin.

At 1:00, the day’s next event started: The ball toss. This is my favorite event. This time, Candi and Baabara were Team Whiteballs.

While my two favorite villagers, Tom and Hank, were Team Redballs.

Belle was also at the ball toss, but just to observe. I can’t blame her; the ball toss is probably the most entertaining event to watch.

At 3:00, the day’s final event started: The tug-of-war. Tom was the flag-waver, while Genji and Robin teamed up against Static and Baabara.

I then wrapped up my day in Forest. The sports fair only comes twice a year, and even though you can’t really participate, it is nice for a change of pace. It can be amusing to see the animals you like (or dislike) in unique situations that are unlike anything else you’d see in an Animal Crossing game. Happy autumn, everyone!
