Catfish Gets Around

Yesterday, Tom reacted quite strongly to my racing helmet. He even seemed scared for some reason?

Tom: Sweet monkey of mercy! You scared the daylights out of me! What is that on your head, me-YOWZA?!

He asked if I was going to a costume party. I’m guessing this dialogue was written with Halloween costumes in mind, but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to be terrified of a race car driver, especially one that’s not currently driving a car. 😆 Any time I see Tom, I should sneak up behind him and say “Vroom!” real loud. 😉

After I caught a catfish, Poncho pinged me. He wanted it really bad, and he offered me 813 bells for it…so I sold it to him. But ten minutes later, I gave him a fossil he asked for…and he rewarded me with the same catfish! I guess he got tired of it pretty quickly! 😆

I thought that was the end of the catfish story, until Tom also wanted it! Fortunately, his offer was better than Poncho’s: He gave me 1,231 bells for it.

Tom: Let's see here... How does 1,231 bells sound to you, me-YOWZA?
And he never gave it back to me.

Today, Tom Nook was selling some elemental items: Fire, water, and earth. Of course it would’ve looked better if the sprinkler was turned on. 😛

The selection in Nook's shop: a campfire, a sprinkler, and a plant in a pot of dirt.

K.K. Slider was in town tonight, and he performed K.K. Aria for me. It’s a sad song, but it’s pretty good.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Aria.

Roscoe was sick with a cold, so I bought some medicine. But he was reluctant to take it!

Roscoe: You think you can boss me into taking that medicine?
You can lead a horse to medicine, but you can’t make him drink.

He did end up taking the medicine, though; he was just being stubborn about it.

I did some more bug hunting, and I also caught two blue marlins tonight. I made about 110k tonight, to go along with 60k I made last night. My account balance has now topped 57 million bells, so I’m already over 75% to my summer goal despite there being almost 4 weeks remaining.

Your current balance is 57,080,000 bells.

See you next time!

Dr. Jones

On Tuesday night, I got to see the inside of Poncho’s house now that he’s all unpacked. Poncho actually looks kind of cute when his eyes are closed.

Poncho: Hey, Jeff! Welcome. Chill out. Take a load off, li'l bear!

Harry asked me for a fossil. So I gave him an ankylo torso, and he asked if I got it from a forgotten, trap-laden tomb. 😛

Harry: Dr. J! Did you find this ankylo torso in some forgotten, trap-laden tomb? Or did you just dig?

He seems to be making a reference to Indiana Jones movies. But the fact that he’s calling me Dr. J makes it even better, sounding like he could be calling me Dr. Jones, as in the Aqua song that parodies Indiana Jones!

Anyway, Harry gave me a fancy carpet in return.

I did some late-night bug-catching, and I also caught two sharks. In all, I earned about 220,000 bells on Tuesday. On Thursday night, I made another 150k.

Tonight, Gabi was locked out of her house, and she was terrified that she’d have to live the rest of her life in the wilderness. Such a drama queen. 😛

Gabi: Aaaugh! I'm gonna be forced into a life of wilderness survival, and I DON'T WANNA DO THAT!
I didn’t help her out. 😛

There was a very heavy meteor shower tonight, so I stopped to take a photo of bugs on trees, and a shooting star. 🌠

Two bugs on trees as a shooting star flies overhead.

Speaking of bugs, I made about 90,000 bells on the night, and that doesn’t even count the unsold bugs leftover in my inventory. My savings balance is now at 56.7 million bells, so I’m ahead of schedule to meet my summer goal.

See you all next time!

A New Poncho

Yesterday, I found a new house in town, and Poncho the bear cub was inside.

Poncho: Hey! So you're from Forest, right?

He is another returning villager, last living in Forest in 2017. I didn’t hate him or anything, but I didn’t particularly care for him either. I don’t see that changing this time around.

Tonight, I visited Antonio, and I could hardly see him. Only the tip of his nose was sticking out from behind a screen. At least, I hope that was his nose.

Antonio, behind a screen: Hey, big gro! Welcome. Chill out. Take a load off, honk!

At the Roost, I asked K.K. Slider for a random song. He performed K.K. House for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. House.

I did some bug-catching and fishing, and I thought this made for a cool screenshot of me fishing behind the windmill.

Fishing behind a windmill.
Unfortunately, it was just a sea bass.

Another time, I had a huge river fish on my line…and then a mosquito came out of nowhere to bite me (and scare off the fish). Oof, that hurt.

My bug-catching session wasn’t super long, but I did manage to earn about 110,000 bells worth of bugs tonight.
