On Thursday, I found a new house in town. Jeremiah’s replacement has moved in, and it’s Punchy the cat!

Punchy lived here before in 2019-20, and more recently, in my New Horizons town from 2022 until May of this year. I like him, but I’m not crazy about him like some people seem to be. 😛

Big Top and Ruby had both asked me for fossils, and I fulfilled both of those requests today. I gave Big Top an archaeopteryx, and he said it could sleep with him tonight!

If you thought his reaction was a little odd, check out what Ruby said when I gave her a pachy tail. She said it was her new love!

Punchy asked me for some festive clothes for the holidays, and the folk shirt at Able Sisters definitely seemed to fit the bill. I took it over to Punchy, and he liked it. He rewarded me with a lovely carpet.

It seemed like everyone was asking me for help tonight! Robin wanted a bagworm, and Midge needed her house key fished out of the river. I helped out both birds.

Robin rewarded me with a plush carpet, while Midge slipped me a slim quazoid.

Whether it was for fossils, fashion, or fishing, I fulfilled five favors for friends tonight! So I took it easy the rest of the night, enjoying K.K. Slider’s Saturday night show at the Roost. I asked for a random song, and he performed K.K. Waltz for me.

I received Jeremiah’s goodbye letter in the mail, which made me feel blue. 😛 I’ll miss the guy.

Today is Thanksgiving in the U.S., and older Animal Crossing games celebrate the occasion as the harvest festival. Tortimer was hanging out near town hall, and he handed me a knife and fork.

Unfortunately, Tortimer is the only animal hanging out there, despite the tables and dishes. Even though I like the City Folk versions of Halloween and Christmas Eve/Toy Day, the harvest festival is devoid of any atmosphere in this game. The GameCube game and New Horizons have such a festive atmosphere for the event, so this just feels lifeless and dull by comparison.

My job, of course, is to search for Franklin the turkey. He will be hiding behind a tree, a house/building, or in some cases, a sign post.

Of course, I end up scaring him (nearly) to death every time.

When you give him the silverware, he hands over a piece of the harvest furniture set. If you give silverware to a villager instead, they will give you a hint as to Franklin’s current location.

But I tried to do it without many hints, just because it can be tedious having to go back to Tortimer for more silverware each and every time.

I discovered that I did not have the harvest set already in storage, which was disappointing because I was wanting to make a harvest festival guide showing the full set. I even checked my saved letters at the post office, and the storage of my other characters…but no luck. Oof.

So I kept playing longer than I originally intended, well over two hours. I got a whopping 30 pieces of harvest stuff, but I still didn’t complete the set—I’m just missing the dresser. I’ll be hanging onto the 11 unique pieces I acquired, but I sold my 19 duplicates for a total of 56,928 bells.

I hope you all had a good harvest festival, Turkey Day, or Thanksgiving (if you’re in the U.S.).

Never Stop Crossing!

Today, Midge told me she was on a hunt for buried treasure. The dialogue reminded me of the treasure hunt mini-game in New Horizons, but City Folk doesn’t have such a game. Instead, she was just asking me to find a fossil for her.

Robin asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek, and she gave me ten minutes to find her, Roscoe, and Big Top. Unlike the last time I played this, it was a slow process. I found Big Top about two and a half minutes into the game, and it took another two minutes to find Robin herself.

About a minute after that, I found Roscoe to win the game.

Robin rewarded me with a mega rustoid (a gyroid).

Antonio was talking about buried fossils and gyroids, and he thinks there’s something even bigger buried underground somewhere. Unfortunately, he wasn’t having luck finding anything. But at least he used his catchphrase in a way that made sense. 😛

Speaking of letdowns, that’s what I felt when I stepped into Jeremiah’s pad. He is already packed up and ready to move out of town! ☹️

Even though I like Big Top a lot, Jeremiah was my favorite villager in town. And it hurts that he’s leaving after only two months! Technically, even a bit less than two months. Oof. I’ll miss the guy (even though I still have him in New Leaf). 😔

Anyway, I gave one of the fossils I founds today (an iguanodon tail) to Midge. She thanked me and gave me a plush carpet in return.

Later on, K.K. Slider performed K.K. Gumbo for me at the Roost.
