Flame War

As expected, I received Mint’s goodbye letter in the mail today. So long, Mint!

Dear Jeff, I've decided to move away from Forest. It's hard to say bye to good friends like you. So I won't. Because I'm SURE we'll meet again somewhere! From: Mint

Chip was standing outside of town hall, because there was another fishing tournament today. Of course, I missed out on it, but he informed me that Deena won the horse mackerel-only tourney by catching a 17.2-incher. Congrats, Deena!

Chip: Deena from here in Forest! Solid fishing! But not so much for you. Nyuuk nyuk!

I went over to the Roost to check out the Saturday night show, and K.K. performed “Cafe K.K.” for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Cafe K.K..

After the show, Camofrog asked me to make a delivery to Scoot for him. He didn’t want to do it himself because he was afraid he’d be spotted…

Camofrog: See, if I get spotted handing over a present, things could get sticky...

But he’s camouflaged! How would anyone spot him?

On the way to Scoot’s house, I stopped to roll up a big snowman near the top of the waterfall. Fortunately, he was pleased with his appearance.

Snowman: But I never dreamed that I'd wind up this gorgeous! You, sir, are an artist! I can't think you enough!

I also took a screenshot of him from down below, too.

A snowman near the top of a waterfall looks out.

I found Scoot behind town hall, and he hated the gift (a flame shirt)!

Scoot: Camofrog doesn't look like it, but he's capable of some hardcore, ruthless jokes.
Camofrog thought the shirt was fire, but this duck thought it was fowl.

He disliked it so much that he was already starting to plan his revenge! Wow! It looks like this is starting a feud between them! Or…a flame war. The shirt isn’t that bad, man. I actually like it myself. 😛

I returned to Camofrog, and he was shocked that the gift didn’t go over well. He rewarded me with a boxing mat.

Camofrog: GRAH! Really? The gift was a total stinker?!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I’ll be back with another entry next week! Never Stop Crossing!

Mint Leaves

Forest’s newest resident, Sydney the koala, came down with a cold today. I gave her some medicine, so hopefully she’ll start to feel better soon.

My next-door neighbor was all packed up and ready to move out of town. I guess Mint is looking for a fresh start. I like her as a character, but her snootiness does annoy me a bit at times. The snooties have always been my least-favorite personality in Animal Crossing games. But I wish Mint the best, and maybe we’ll meet again someday.

Mint: I need to clean up this place before I leave!
As if you’re not going to take the house with you.

Rosie was standing out in the cold, saying it’s so cold that it’s “survival-TV-show cold.” She was afraid she’d have to build a fire! Did she forget she has a house?

Rosie: It's cold! Like, survival-TV-show cold, la-di-da! ...I may have to build a fire with, like, flint and stuff.

Scoot asked me for a frog shirt, so I ordered him one. I shut the game off for the afternoon, but I returned tonight. The shirt arrived in the mail, so I took it over to Scoot. He was overjoyed to have his iconic outfit again, and he rewarded me with some birch flooring.

Scoot: Sparkles...that was bigger than hitting a basket at the buzzer! You came through for me!

At the Roost, I asked K.K. Slider for a random song, and he performed “K.K. Dixie” for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Dixie.

Have a great weekend, everyone! I’ll see you next time!

New Year 2026 Shirt

Last night was New Year’s Eve, and Scoot told me he was getting so amped up that he felt like he had mutant strength! He said if he had a bat and an apple, he could break a window in the big city?

Scoot: If I had a bat and an apple, I could break a window in the big city, zip zoom!

That’s a bit of a confusing statement, but I think he’s saying he feels so strong, he could hit an apple (like a baseball) with a bat so far that it would reach the city. At least his catchphrase fits the situation.

Meanwhile, Antonio had a very different reaction to the impending countdown. He was afraid that he was forgetting something, up his nose. 😆

Antonio: Oh, man... I can't shake the feeling I'm forgetting something, up my nose.

I stayed for the countdown, even though I was juggling three Animal Crossing games. Antonio joined me and Tortimer outside of town hall to bring in 2026. Happy New Year! 🎉

Celebrating the new year 2026 with Tortimer and Antonio.

I brought in that snowball, but Antonio kept pushing it around as he paced. 😆

Tortimer was the first one to wish me a happy new year.

Tortimer: Whirrrr! Bang! Bam! BOOM! That's the sound of the new year! Shoot those fireworks high, boys!

I watched the fireworks for a bit, but they don’t look all that impressive in screenshots. At least not compared to the newer games.

Watching fireworks bring in the new year in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

I played again today, and I found many New Year’s greetings in the mail.

MY NEW YEAR'S CARD! Wishing You A TOTALLY Happy New Year! *2026* Like, from Rosie

Mom also sent me 1,000 bells with her card.

Tortimer was standing outside of town hall again, this time to hand out special New Year’s shirts for 2026.

Tortimer: But first, since it's the new year and all, I need to give you something.

The shirt has “2026” on the back and a horse on the front. 2026 is the year of the horse in the Chinese zodiac. Here’s a look at the front and back:

The new year's shirt for 2026 in Animal Crossing: City Folk for Nintendo Wii.

Just to be clear, because I see some confusion about these almost every year: These are not newly distributed (DLC) items. They were programmed into the game from the start, and there are shirts from 2000-2035.

City Folk did have downloadable items, including the golden furniture series and the creepy set, among many other individual items. But those ended many years ago. The last DLC item distributed in America was the Jingle TV, back in December 2012.

Anyway, my villagers also had new year’s wishes for me when I spoke to them in person as well. Big Top proposed a toast to old friends.

Big Top: I propose a toast, J-boo. To old friends in the new year!

And Rosie felt more powerful in the new year, like a robot…but without the gears. ⚙️

Rosie: the me of 2026 is a new, more POWERFUL me! Like a robot! But without all the gears and stuff.

I hope you also have a happy (and possibly powerful?) new year as well! I hope you’ll continue to join me for more Animal Crossing content in 2026 and beyond. Never Stop Crossing!
