Christmas Eve 2022

It’s Christmas Eve, so I was greeted with a special holiday message when I started up the game tonight.

Hey, everybody! Happy holidays! And guess who's comin' to town!

Just a few steps away, I ran into Jingle, the black-nosed reindeer.

Jingle: All that white, fluffy snow everywhere! Ooh boy, I just love it! And how romantic!

After telling him I like huge things (meaning furniture), he gave me a Jingle lamp. I changed into a patterned hat, and I continued to keep an eye out for him as I made my rounds. When I ran into him on the beach, he gave me a Jingle bed.

Jingle: I'm a happy little reindeer!

He can also be found in villagers’ homes in this game, and I eventually found him in Vladimir’s house. Probably giving him a lump of coal. 😉

Jingle: Hmm. I could've sworn you... No, no way. You look like someone I know, but you're not him, huh?

I saw a huge fish shadow in the river, which may have been a stringfish. But after the 4th nibble, my Wii remote batteries died! I still tried to press the A button when the fish took the 5th and final nibble, but it was no use. The big fish got away. Oof.

Communications with the Wii Remote have been...

I played for a solid hour, finding Jingle 12 times in that span. When I was done, I sold my 12 pieces of Jingle furniture for a nice chunk of change: nearly 150k! 🙂

Tom Nook: Ah, for all of that, I'll give you 146,880 bells!

This event rivals summer night bug-catching in terms of making money. 💰💰💰

Merry Christmas, Happy Toy Day, and Happy Holidays, everyone! 🎅🎄❄️

Festive Trees, Rich Cub

I received Apollo’s goodbye letter in the mail tonight. It’s sad to see him go, but at least Forest is down to just seven cranky villagers now. For the moment, at least.

Jeff, Well, I'm finally moving out of Forest tomorrow. If it makes you feel any better, you're the only reason I stayed as long as I did. Thanks, pal. -Apollo

Not only does snow now cover the ground, but festive lights are now on some cedar trees around town. Near Grizzly’s house, I found a spot where I could see four of them at once (three in the foreground, and one in the background on the left).

Festive lights on trees.

I played too late to catch K.K. Slider at the Roost, but I did run into Vladimir there. He repeated this memorable line while enjoying some coffee:

Vladimir: The coffee here is rich and mysterious, much like myself.

I’ve taken this picture with so many (cranky) villagers before, including Wolfgang, Tom, and Octavian.

I decided to roll up two snowballs and make my first snowman of the season. He ended up being “gorgeous” (his words), so he should be sending me a reward in the mail next time.

Snowman: But I never dreamed that I'd wind up this gorgeous! You, sir, are an artist! I can't thank you enough!

If all goes as planned, I may be playing the Christmas Eve/Toy Day event in City Folk this year. 🙂 Since I played all four version of the event last year (and decided ACCF has my favorite version), I’m going to try to focus more on City Folk this year. (I’ll probably play New Horizons too, but just briefly.)

See you next week! 🙂

Eagle Flies Away

Tonight, I saw the back of Tom’s head just below the similarly-shaped cat head constellation in the sky. 😉 I just had to snap a photo of the kitties.

Tom stands below the cat constellation in the sky.

When I visited Apollo, I saw that he was all packed up and ready to move out of town.

Apollo: I mean, it's not like I was trying to give you the slip! Seriously! I'm just bad at, you know, good-byes.

I’m a bit disappointed to see him go, but at least this will decrease the number of cranky villagers in town. Of course, the crankiness level of Forest will still be sky-high, even without this eagle.

Despite Apollo’s exit, I was still in a good mood tonight. So I told K.K. Slider I was feeling good, and he played K.K. Salsa for me.

K.K.: Here's a peppy number that'll make you flip. This one's called K.K. Salsa.

I later caught up with Chip outside of town hall. He told me that a fishing tournament was held today, and Tom was the winner with a 41-inch sea bass. Good job, Tom! He’ll be a star someday.
