False Hope

Knox’s house is now fully unpacked, and I got to see what it looks like for the first time tonight. It’s very… um… medieval. With a bit of an old west feel too, I wagon reckon.

Knox's house in Animal Crossing: City Folk (ACCF).
I don’t know what I expected.

When I spoke with Kitty, I got excited for a moment. I thought she was going to tell me she was moving…but she just wanted a new catchphrase.

Kitty: Hey, Boy J. I think it's time for me to make a change, I'm awful!
Oh, you’re keeping that catchphrase. Like it or not.

Speaking of false hope, Tiffany gave me some of that too.

Tiffany: I've really been fighting the urge to move out, bunbun...
Don’t fight it.

But she was just telling me she needed to redecorate her house. Bummer.

At the Roost, I asked K.K. Slider for a random song. He performed K.K. Folk for me, which may not be my favorite, but it is better than the title suggests. I particularly like the double-howl parts. 😛

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Folk.

And tonight marks exactly 2,000 days since my last night of Wi-Fi online play in Animal Crossing: City Folk. That’s when Nintendo pulled the plug on online play for Wii and original DS games.* That final night was a fun, sad, bittersweet good time. If you’d like, check out that night’s blog entry to relive the fun.

*Yes, I know there are unofficial methods to play those games online now, but I don’t use them, nor do any of my old ACCF friends, as far as I know.

Also, I’ve posted my latest episode of Mario Plays ACCF. This time, Mario participates in Bob’s game show, Purrl asks Mario to give a message to Luigi, and Luigi has a strong reaction to Mushroom’s newest villager. Check it out!

Have a great night, and Never Stop Crossing!

Two Knight, Tonight

On Monday, I found a new villager house in town. A chicken named Knox was inside. He wears a gold helmet, and the gold is likely a reference to Fort Knox (which is known for storing much of the United States’ gold reserves).

Knox: My name's Knox... not that you asked. Nice to meet you, pal.

But the more interesting thing is that I already have Sterling in my town, who also wears a knight’s helmet (but his is silver). What’s with all the helmets? Is the sky falling, and I don’t know it yet?

I played again tonight, and the arrival of November brings mushrooms. The very first one I picked up ended up being a piece of mush furniture…an end table, to be exact.

I thought it was just a mushroom, but it was really a mush end table!

Kitty was sick, so I gave her some medicine that I already had in my pockets. It may have been expired, but it’s for Kitty, so who cares? 😛

Kitty takes some medicine in Animal Crossing: City Folk (ACCF) for Nintendo Wii.

Of the four villagers who live in the northeast corner of town, three of them were home tonight. And all three of them asked me for either a bug or a fish. Mitzi asked me for a pill bug, Puck wanted a rainbow trout, and Roald demanded a flea.

A pill bug is the easiest of those to catch, so I quickly captured one for Mitzi. She rewarded me with 532 bells.

Mitzi: Here, I want you to have 532 bells as a token of my eternal gratitude, mew!

I then went fishing in the river for a rainbow trout. But after fishing for about 25 minutes without a single rainbow trout, I gave up my search. As for the flea, that’s not something you can really search for. I listened when I walked by each villager I saw outside, but I didn’t encounter any of those either. Sorry, penguins.

I did not participate in the Halloween festivities in any Animal Crossing game this year, but I did post a Halloween poem on Youtube. It involves Animal Crossing characters, but it takes place in Luigi’s Mansion. Check it out if you’d like!

And speaking of Luigi’s Mansion, I just posted my first impressions of Luigi’s Mansion 3 on my gaming blog here.

I hope you all had a great Halloween! I’ll see you all next time. 🙂 Never Stop Crossing!

Sushi Exhibit

Limberg has officially expired. I received his goodbye letter in the mail today.

Jeff, Well, I'm finally moving out of Forest tomorrow. If it makes you feel any better, you're the only reason I stayed as long as I did. Thanks, pal. -Limberg

When I visited Sterling, he told me that I look like the type of person that takes a bath in the morning. What’s wrong with that??

Sterling: ...You know, you look like the type that takes a bath in the morning.
And you look like the type that showers with your helmet on.

Actually, he was just saying that he prefers to bathe in the evening, before dinner. Do whatever you have to do to have a nice, relaxing knight.

Outside, Puck said we should take some soy sauce, wasabi, and rice into the museum. I guess that will be for the new sushi exhibit.

Puck: We should bring some soy sauce, wasabi, and rice into the museum!

After my other penguin Roald talked about being a middle child, I noticed he had a flea on him. So I helped him out and caught the flea.

Roald: Whoa. I don't itch anymore!

After I was done making my rounds, I did a little tree-shaking. I caught one bee, and one other bee caught me. But I also found a maple bonsai that fell out of one tree. It wasn’t even a maple tree!

It may be a sappy gift, but the tree was sweet to think of me.

I just posted a new video tonight, ranking all of my villagers…not only in Forest and Mushroom, but in all seven of my Animal Crossing towns across all four main AC games. I hope you’ll give it a look
