Walker Walks Out

The snowman I built last week may be long gone, but I just received his thank-you letter in the mail today. He sent me a snowman carpet, which I sold at Nook ‘n’ Go for 8,888 bells.

When I visited Walker, I was dog-gone surprised to see that he’s all packed up and ready to move out!

Walker, ready to leave: Oh, Chill J! I, um, wasn't expecting company.

He may not have been my favorite dog, but I did like him, and I’m disappointed to see him leaving town so soon! He’s only been here for three and a half months (since late September).

I found both of today’s snowballs in the same general area (just west of the fountain), so I decided to roll them up into a snowman. He turned out perfectly, so I’ll be getting another reward in the mail next time.

Snowman: My perfect roundness, this balance of body and head! There's not an ounce of criticism I can give!

I went down to the Roost to check out the Saturday night musical performance. K.K. Slider sang Cafe K.K. for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Cafe K.K..

Tom was sick with a cold, so I bought some medicine for him. Get well soon, Tom!

Tom flips as he takes some cold medicine.

When I took the bus out to the city, Bones nearly got ran over by the bus! He was walking up (north), but stopped and turned right, just as the bus arrived! I’m sure villagers can’t actually be hit by the bus, but it was the closest call I’ve seen!

Be careful out there!

New Year’s Shirt 2021

Today is New Year’s Day, and I received new year’s greetings in the mail from Goldie, Bones, Puck, and Mom.

Dear Jeff, Happy New Year! In the new year, I hope we eat lots of delicious things and have tons of fun! -Bones

The letter from Mom also included 1,000 bells. Hey Mom, that’s not very much money these days! 😉

I quickly walked the short distance from my house to town hall. Mayor Tortimer was standing outside to hand out gifts for the new year.

Tortimer: But first, since it's the new year and all, I need to give you something.

He gave me the New Year’s shirt for 2021, which has an ox on it (for the year of the ox). It may not the most graceful animal, but at least it’s better than the rat of 2020! Am I right?

All of my villagers also had dialogue related to the new year. Goldie was really happy to see 2021 arrive, and I’m sure many of us felt the same way.

Goldie: Oh, J-bot! It's finally here! Happy New Year, woof woof!

Astrid asked me for a new catchphrase to replace “my pet,” so I told her to say “in 2021.”

Astrid: It's hard to be popular. How will I stay on top of all my letter writing this year, in 2021!

I then rolled up two snowballs to make my first snowman of the season. He turned out perfectly, so he’ll be sending me a gift in the mail.

Snowman: My perfect roundness, this balance of body and head! There's not an ounce of criticism I can give!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2021 is a much better year than 2020 was. Best of luck to you all! 🙂

A Cat Worse Than Kitty

A new villager has moved in, and I was not happy to see that it was Monique! She was one of my very first adversaries going way back to the early days of my GameCube town (along with her partner in crime, Olivia). They were so rude, and I hated them (and Yuka too, who also lived in my town in those days).

Monique: What, can't you tell? I just moved here, and now I'm trying to get everything in its proper place!
Your proper place is a different town.

I know I was tired of Kitty being in my town, but Monique is even worse. Oof. Well, hopefully Monique won’t stick around for years like Kitty did.

Puck was talking about dabbing some beet salad on his clothing to show the outside world the stuff inside him. Yuck. I don’t want to see inside you, Puck.

Puck: Cuisine couture helps me show the outside world the stuff inside me! Like beet salad!

Down at the Roost, K.K. Slider performed K.K. Ballad for me. Oddly enough, that’s the same song he played for me in New Horizons tonight!

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Ballad.

Rasher was feeling sick with a cold. Since it’s the holiday season, I thought I would be nice and buy some medicine for him. When he took the medicine, it seemed to work a bit too well.

Rasher: Huh? Heeey! I feel all warm and tingly inside! Is this waht happiness feels like, woof woof?
Yikes. Please never make that face again.

Portia asked me for some new clothes, so I bought her two outfits at Able Sisters (in case she didn’t like one): a night sky tee and a one-way tee. But she refused them both, saying they weren’t gaudy enough. 🙄
