Tricky Cricket

I received a letter from the snowman I built last week, and he sent me a snowman lamp. I sold it for a cool 8,888 bells.

When I went to visit Monique, I was surprised to find her all packed up and ready to move out of town. It’s actually a good thing to see her go; I just didn’t think it would happen so soon.

Monique: I'm moving out soon! I'm just too special to stay in one town for very long.

Over in front of town hall, Chip was hanging out due to today’s fishing tournament. He informed me that Goldie won the tourney with a 95-inch tuna! Wow, congrats Goldie!

Puck asked me if I had eaten any pizza today. Ha, I wish. 😛 When I told him no, he asked why I was acting all cheesy. 😛

Puck: But then, why are you acting all cheesy today?

I made my way over to the Roost, where K.K. Slider was performing. I asked for a random song, and he played K.K. Salsa for me. It’s actually a pretty entertaining song when performed live.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Salsa.

After the show, Goldie asked me to catch a mole cricket for her. I agreed to help out, so I kept my ears open. I heard one near the northwest bridge, so I started digging holes. The mole cricket popped out, I swung my net and missed, and then my batteries died!

My batteries die as I swing my net (and miss) at a mole cricket.

That was horrible timing for my batteries to die out like that! By the time I replaced the batteries, the mole cricket was obviously long gone. I heard another one behind Scott’s house, and I dug a bunch of holes before it appeared. Once it did show up, the house blocked my view and my blind net swings missed the target. It too got away. Oof.

Fortunately, the third try was the charm. I finally caught a mole cricket near Nook ‘n’ Go.

I caught a mole cricket! Proceeding with interrogation!

I took it over to Goldie (who was near where I missed the first mole cricket), and she pinged me as I got there. She wanted me to tell her a new greeting, but I didn’t want to have to think of something for her to say. 😛 She got annoyed that I wouldn’t help her, so I had to wait for her to stop being angry before I could give her the bug. But once I did, she was happy to have it.

Goldie: Oh, wow! Is that... It is! It's a mole cricket!

She gave me some imperial tile for helping out. That task turned out to be trickier than I expected!

No Flea Bath Required

Rasher was complaining about the cold weather tonight, saying it made it hard for him to keep his cheery disposition. (Since when has Rasher ever had a cheery disposition?!) He was hoping for a nice girl to show up and share her scarf with him. Ha. Keep dreaming, swine.

Rasher: I sure wish there was a nice girl out there willing to share her scarf or something, woof woof.
Woof woof? There are so many dogs in town that even Rasher thinks he’s a dog now. 😛

I attended K.K. Slider’s show at the Roost tonight, and he played K.K. Song for me. That’s not my favorite song, so I decided to listen to another song. But this time, I made a silly request just for fun.

K.K.: Thing is... I don't know why Im so hungry. It's just not on my set list, dig?

When I visited Portia, she asked me to return a CD called “The Whole World Sings with K.K. Slider.”

Portia: You know, that CD called The Whole World Sings with K.K. Slider...

But then she realized that she lent it to Monique, not me. I’m insulted that anyone could confuse me with Monique!

You know how when a villager has fleas, they will (temporarily) change their catchphrase to something like “itchy” or “scritchy?” Well, I mistook my newest villager Lucky’s catchphrase rrr-owch for one of those flea-bitten phrases.

Lucky: Even if they ate all our fruit, I'd still be happy to meet them, rrr-owch!

So I just assumed he had a flea on him and I hit him with my net twice, trying to catch a flea that wasn’t there. Oops! Poor guy! In my defense, he did not use his catchphrase last week when I first met him. But I’ll have to remember that’s his default catchphrase from now on. 😛

By the way, that picture of Lucky above is my 7,000th screenshot saved in City Folk. It’s a meaningless milestone, but I tend to notice things like that since the filenames are numbered. 😛

I made another large snowman, and it was perfect. The snowman gave me a new title: Lord Freezingworthtonshirealot. That sure is a mouthful, so I guess he’ll just have to call me Mr. F.

Snowman: You should have a title! Henceforth, you are Lord Freezing...worth...ton... shire...alot... I gotta go.

I gathered and sold a bunch of fruit, and I made about 100k on the day. I also earned 99,999 bells in bank account interest since this was my first time playing in February.

See you all next time! Never Stop Crossing! 🙂

Getting Lucky

In the mail, I received a snowman lamp from the snowman I built last week.

I then saw a fish shadow in the ocean that looked too big to be a sea bass, so I grabbed my rod and fished it out. It was a sea bass. 🤦

When I ran into Portia on the ramp, she told me she made a decision: She’s going to go to fashion school! Good for you!

Portia: I'm going to go to school to get better at designing outfits!

Astrid told me she bought something from Crazy Redd, and then she saw the same thing at Nook’s for half the price. She had some “shopper’s rage,” although I wish I could have seen exactly what she did. 😛

Astrid: I got so upset, I skipped buyer's remorse and went straight to shopper's rage, in 2021.

There was a new house in town, so I went inside to see Walker’s replacement. I felt very lucky to find a villager that I like a lot: It’s Lucky!

Lucky: Eep! My place still isn't ready, and neither am I! I'm Lucky, and I just moved here today.

Forest is back to being a four-dog town now, as Lucky joins Goldie, Bones, and Portia. Not only that, but three of them are among my favorite dogs in the whole series! (Portia isn’t quite a favorite, although I do like her too.) And Forest is also a five-canine town, with Wolfgang joining the four dogs. I guess life around here must be ruff, especially for any cats (watch out, Monique and Tom!).

I headed up to the Roost for K.K. Slider’s Saturday night performance, and he played The K. Funk for me.

K.K. Slider performs in the Roost in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend!
