Back on Track

Wolfgang asked me to catch his lucky bug for him tonight…and that was a pondskater.

Wolfgang: Normally I'm not interested in catching squishy little bugs... But I'll make an exception for a lucky bug!

I kept an eye out for one as I played. But unfortunately for Wolfgang, I didn’t see a single pondskater the entire night.

When I visited Violet, she wondered if we’d be having any rare visitors in a thong. I certainly hope not.

Violet: I wonder if we'll have any rare visitors, in a thong?

Goldie was still sick, so I bought some medicine for her once again.

Goldie: You have medicine?! Would you be willing to share, woof woof?!

After making my rounds, I went on my usual summer bug hunt. Unfortunately, things weren’t going well. I swung and missed at two rainbow stags, and I wasn’t finding many good bugs (or fish). In about an hour of searching (bridging the 10pm and 11pm hours), I only made about 115,000 bells.

So I took a little break, and then returned after midnight. Immediately, I noticed a dramatic difference. I was seeing many more rare bugs, and more bugs in general. I went back and forth across the beach, filling my pockets with lots of good catches. In under 45 minutes, I earned 215,000 bells.

That gave me a total of 330,000 bells on the night, and it kicked my bank account balance over 42 million bells.

Your current balance is 42,030,000 bells.

My goal was to hit 42.5 million by September 1st, and I’m now back on pace to hit that target.

Note: Out of curiosity, I just now checked a guide to see the times that pondskaters are out. And they can’t be caught after 7 p.m.! So they were never even out the whole time I played. Wolfgang sent me on a wild goose chase! He might as well have asked me to catch a glow-in-the-dark purple unicorn!

No wonder my first hour went so bad; I kept making trips around the river looking for pondskaters! Wolfgang has earned himself a date with a pitfall seed. I’ll have to introduce them next week.

Gala Rolls In

Lucy’s replacement has moved into Forest, so I went in the new house to say hello to the new villager. And I must say, the new villager looks a lot like the old villager! It’s Gala the pig!

Gala: Eek! I-I'm sorry! It's such a horrible mess in here...

Gala may be cuter then Lucy, and I have had some history with her (Gala lived in my New Leaf town in 2014). But trading one pig for another isn’t exactly the upgrade I was hoping for. I know that isn’t Gala’s fault though, so I’ll try to be nice to her. 😛

It’s Saturday night, so I went down to the Roost to check out the musical performance. K.K. Slider played “Only Me” for only me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Only Me.

Goldie was sick with yet another cold, so I bought some medicine for her. She must have some serious health issues though, because it seems like she’s always as sick as a dog.

Goldie: I... I'm OK... I took my medicine... Everything's going to be fine...

I went bug-catching, and I caught a hercules beetle, two giant beetles, a cyclommatus, and a couple of emperor butterflies. It was a decent start, but I was getting tired and starting to fall asleep. In fact, I nearly sold Tom Nook my golden fishing rod by accident!!

Tom Nook: It looks like there's something important mixed in with the goods you wish to sell...

I’m glad he had that warning for me, or I would have made a huge mistake! But I figured I had better wrap up my night and take a little nap before I did anything else stupid. 😛

So I only made about 100,000 bells on the night, and I’m not on pace to meet my summer goal. I’ll have to play some extra nights later on in the month. It just wasn’t happening tonight.

Have a good night and I’ll see you next time!

Fooling Myself

At some point over the past week, Lucy got out her pig pen and wrote me a goodbye letter. Or maybe she used a stylus instead? Regardless, I received the letter today.

To Jeff, By the time you read this, I probably will have already left Forest... Thanks for everything. I will never forget the good times I had here. --Take care, Lucy

The greeting I gave Purrl last week actually fooled me for a split-second tonight. When she mentioned Mario, I actually wondered if I was playing in the wrong town for a moment. 🤣

Purrl: Mario? Oh, Jeff! Aren't you excited for another fun night out on the town?

I made my way over to the museum and went down the stairs to the Roost. I intended to check out K.K. Slider’s Saturday night performance. But it turned out I was about 15 minutes too late. Oops! Where did the time go tonight? 😛

While I was bug-hunting, Bones asked me for a new greeting. I told him to say Skull & Bones. I should probably order myself a skull shirt now. 💀

Bones: Skull & Bones!! A huh huh huh! It'll be our secret code that adventure is afoot, woof woof!

In total, I played about one hour and ten minutes. And I earned about 170,000 bells, mainly from bugs. It should have been a bit higher, but I messed up and let a scarab beetle and a tarantula get away. Well, the tarantula actually attacked me, but nobody needs to know about that part. 😉

The last thing I did was take the bus to the city to check Redd’s items. But since it was after 1 a.m. by then, Redd’s shop was already closed. You know you’re playing late when Crazy Redd of all people is in bed. 😛

Aw, shoot! We're closed! Business hours are 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 A.M. -the Management

I posted the latest episode of Mario Plays ACCF yesterday. Here it is if you haven’t seen it yet. Enjoy, and have a great day!
