Gold Bug Trophy

Flick sent me a letter in the mail today, congratulating me for accumulating 300 Bug-Off points. He said my journey toward True Infestation is almost complete…although I have no idea what that part means.

To the bug-favored Jeff, Thanks for participating in the Bug-Off! You scored at least 300 points, so I've included your prize! Your journey toward True Infestation is almost complete! -Your Bug-Off host, Flick

He sent me the gold bug trophy, and I displayed it in my house. Eventually, I should find a better place for it than my bathroom floor, but this will do for now. 😛 I get so lazy when it comes to decorating the inside of my house.

My silver fish trophy and (new) gold bug trophy.

A few minutes later, I thought I was catching a shark…but it turned out to be an ocean sunfish instead. In this picture, it looks like I’m just casually tossing it up in the air. 😛

At Able Sisters, Hornsby “bragged” that he knows how to wear hats. 😛

Hornsby: I don't wanna brag, but I know how to wear hats.

He was hinting that he wanted the tweed cap there, so I bought it for him. He put it on, thanked me, and gave me a tee dress.

Since I only needed one more house remodel to finish a Nook Miles achievement, I told Tom Nook to make my house yellow. That will (sort of) match the sand for my King Tut race that goes right behind my house…and I’ll get the Nook Miles tomorrow.

Would you like to place this order?

K.K. Slider was in town, so I asked him for a random song. He played K.K. Groove for me, Apple, and Midge.

Leopold the lion was camping at the campsite. He’s a nice guy and all, but I was not interested in having him move here.

I noticed that I only needed to dig up four more clams to complete the “Clam and Collection” achievement, so I went ahead and did that. It earned me 3,000 Nook Miles.

Clam and Collected: All five goals completed.

There are still a lot of Nook Miles goals I have yet to complete, so I may start paying more attention to some of them. But there are a few that honestly might take me another year or two.

Just a heads-up for people on my roster: Most likely, I will not have Friday Night Forest this upcoming week. But instead, I plan on opening next Sunday, August 1st (a week from tonight) for the first fireworks festival of the year.

See you next time!

Scarred Bones

Yesterday, Apple suggested playing a treasure hunt game. She gave me six minutes to find the buried item, but I didn’t even need one minute to track it down.

I dig up some treasure with 5:10 remaining on the timer.

I took it back to Apple, she gave me the item: a tiger-face tee dress.

Gulliver was washed up on the beach, so I woke him up and collected his phone parts for him.

I received my reward from him in the mail today; it was a nutcracker (a red one).

The July Bug-Off was held today, so I met up with Flick at the plaza to get it started. On my first run, I caught seven bugs (two of which were banded dragonflies!), which gave me a total of nine points.

On my second run, I scored 10 points. But more importantly, my all-time point total surpassed 300, so Flick will be sending me a prize in the mail tomorrow!

Flick: That means... Oh! Your total points from all the Bug-Offs now adds up to at least 300!

I played three more rounds, scoring 7 points, 11 points, and 12 points, respectively. I had 51 points in my pool, so I redeemed them for five prizes: two ladybug umbrellas, a spider doorplate, a toy centipede, and an artisanal bug cage.

When I visited Bones, he told me that he has a scar on his face from a tragic book accident. He was reading a popup book, and the castle foldout popped up and injured him. 😛

Bones: I opened it, and the castle foldout popped up. But I guess I wasn't holding the book far away enough...

Midge also had a book story for me today. She said she was reading a novel from the library (wait, since when does this island have a library?), and she found an odd note inside. The note said that balloons won’t pop from a mosquito bite.

Midge: I read the note. It said, Balloons won't break from a mosquito bite. Seriously weird, in the sky.

Midge was so perplexed by the note that she couldn’t concentrate on the book any more.

K.K. was a no-show in town tonight, thanks to the Bug-Off. But he should be around tomorrow instead. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Glowing Painting

It was raining again yesterday, and Bones told me to be careful so that I don’t slip, fall, and crack my coconut.

Bones: Careful... The ground's wet! Don't slip and fall! You'll crack your coconut!
And you be careful not to break your Bones!

Jolly Redd’s ship was parked at the north shore. He had a fake serene painting, a fake jolly painting, a glowing painting I wasn’t sure about, and a warrior statue I also wasn’t sure about. I decided to take a chance and buy the glowing painting, because I like how it looked.

Wisp was also in town, and he gave me a humidifier for gathering up his spirits for him.

Today, I received the glowing painting in the mail from Redd. I took it up to the museum, and Blathers confirmed its authenticity. 🙂

When I visited Louie, he told me about a dream he had: His abs were a 64-pack, and each of those abs also had its own 64-pack.

Louie: I had this awesome dream... My abs were a 64-pack, and each of THOSE abs had its own 64-pack.

It made me think of Donkey Kong 64, which came with a N64 expansion pak…especially since it’s Louie, the Donkey Kong lookalike, who had the dream!

There’s no Friday Night Forest this week. But the next Bug-Off is coming up on Saturday, so I’ll probably post my next entry then. Have a good Friday!
