Winter Fishing Tourney ’26

On Monday, Charlise was camping at my campsite…for the 5th time!

Charlise, at the campsite: I kinda came out here on a lark, but this place seriously rocks. I'm in love, urgh!

That’s five visits, just in the last two and a half years! Sorry, Charlie, but you need to stop. I don’t want you here. ๐Ÿ˜›

On Wednesday, I noticed billow clouds once again in the sky. I’m seeing them more frequently lately, so I probably don’t need to keep mentioning it every time, but they are pretty! And I thought this made a unique screenshot with the airport and Nook’s Cranny.

I decided to take a screenshot of my town map before the update arrives next week.

My Forest map as of January 7th, 2026.

While I don’t know how much the map screen will change, we’ll at least have an icon for the hotel on the pier. We’ll see if any other surprises are in store!

The winter fishing tournament was held today, and I found Agent S and Kid Cat fishing together. But of course, neither of them were catching anything.

Kid Cat: Ugh! I can't catch anything...
Not all heroes cast bait.

I played one round of the fishing tourney, and I caught seven fish within the three-minute time limit.

Reel it in! the Fishing Tourney...

That was good for nine points. I sold my fish for 3,105 bells, and then I redeemed ten points for a prize: a fish pochette.

C.J.: THERE'S a keeper! Your very own fish pochette. Nyuk nyuk!

Here are a few other quick notes about this week:

  • Last Sunday, I gave medicine to a sick Bob. He rewarded me with a baby romper.
  • Wednesday, I returned a lost bag to Ankha. She gave me a throwback container.
  • I helped out Gullivarrr yesterday, and he sent me another pirate-ship cannon today. Nice!

We’re less than a week away from the Version 3.0 update! I’m sure I’ll be trying out all the new features next weekend. But the following week (January 23rd), I might open my gate for a Friday Night Forest. Anyone on my roster will be welcome.

I’ll be back with another entry next week to let you know my impressions of the update. Hope to see you then!

Zodiac Horse, New Year

After failing at my first three snowboy attempts, I seem to have gotten the hang of it. New Horizons seems to like bigger heads on snowpeople than the older games did. But once I finally did make a couple of perfect snowboys, they sent me an ice wall and a frozen mini snowperson.

At the end of 2025, I ordered some sparkling ciders and some new zodiac horses. This is what the zodiac horse looks like.

Wednesday was New Year’s Eve, so I headed to the event plaza. Isabelle gave me a light stick and Tom Nook gave me some party poppers.

Kid Cat offered to buy the ant I had in my pockets, because…he needed a replacement for his ant! Why is he buying a new ant to replace his old ant? Did it die?

Kid cat: I'm not very subtle, huh? Yeah, I'm gonna need a replacement for my ant.

I hung around for the final countdown to the new year. But I was juggling three games, and when I tried to press the capture button, I pressed the home button by mistake. So I didn’t capture the exact moment…but this is the best frame of the video that I got:

A balloon present was flying by, so I shot it down and found a broom and dustpan inside! I guess that’s one way to sweep away last year’s mess and start 2026 with a clean slate! ๐Ÿงน

I then returned to the plaza to chat with all my villagers. Happy New Year, everyone! ๐ŸŽ‰

Ankha: Starting a new year is like pressing a giant restart button! And we all deserve a fresh start, darling.
Bones: Happyyy New Year! It's 2026 starting today! That's pretty cool!

Thursday was New Year’s Day, but it was also another holiday: Bob’s birthday! I bought him a dreamy wall rack at the shop, wrapped it up in purple wrapping paper, and headed over to his birthday party. He seemed to enjoy the gift, saying he never dreamed he’d get something “so darn neat.” ๐Ÿ˜›

Bob: Oh wow, like... Whaa?! This is a dreamy wall rack, right?!

Static was also at the party, but he compared it to going through a tough time and just surviving!

Static: They say that you feel especially close to anyone you survive some tough times with, in my tail.
Static: Parties like this can be a struggle for me to get through, sometimes. I'm glad you were here with me.

Tonight was K.K. Slider night, and I asked him for a random song. He performed “K.K. Marathon” for me, Ankha, and Agent S. Definitely not my favorite song.

Here are a few other quick notes about this week:

  • On Monday, I returned a lost book to Agent S. She rewarded me with a basketball tank.
  • I helped out Gulliver, and he sent me a silk hat.
  • On Tuesday, I caught a damselfly for Static. He rewarded me with a coatigan.
  • I recovered Wisp’s spirits, and he gave me a simple checkered dress.
  • Yesterday, Bob sent me a letter to thank me for his birthday gift. He included another copy of his photo too!

Happy New Year, everyone! The New Horizons Version 3.0 update is coming in just a couple weeks, so I hope you’ll stick around for more Animal Crossing content. See you soon!

Toy Day Week

On Tuesday, Pascal popped up from under the sea to ask for my scallop. He also complained about people who ask if a hot dog is a sandwich. ๐Ÿ˜›

Pascal: People gota stop asking if a hot dog is a sandwich. Just eat your lunch, maaan.

He then gave me a pearl for my scallop.

Wednesday was Toy Day (Christmas Eve), and Louie told me he wanted to spell out “Hi Santa” in the snow. Louie, no!!

Louie: I've been jogging a bunch of extra laps today. I wanna spell out Hi, Santa! in the snow, I'm cranky.

I then met up with Jingle outside of Resident Services. After I crafted three sheets of wrapping paper for him, it was time to start making deliveries!

Jingle: That's right, kid. How'd you like to help me deliver Toy Day presents?

He gave me Santa’s magic bag, and I changed into my Santa outfit (even though it wasn’t necessary). I began delivering toys to my villagers, even the bad ones like Static. (Just kidding, Static.)

Static: Oh, it's from Santa? Don't that beat all... My friend workin' for Santa himself...

June was so cute when I handed over her gift. (Although she’s always pretty cute regardless.)

June: Is this gift for little old me?

And Ankha’s catchphrase made her sound like…well, Ankha. ๐Ÿ˜›

Ankha: A gift? From Santa, but delivered by you? What a charming surprise, I hate it!

A few of my villagers gave me gifts in return. The process of delivering gifts is pretty quick and easy, and Jingle ultimately rewarded me with a Toy Day sleigh.

Jingle: And then...something extra special... Your very own Toy Day sleigh!

On Christmas Day, Static and June spent the whole day outside of Resident Services, just staring at the Christmas tree, while also whistling, daydreaming, and singing. ๐Ÿ˜›

Flick was in town, so I sold him a dozen bugs (mostly wasps and dung beetles) for exactly 51,000 bells.

Yesterday, Klaus the bear was camping at the campsite…for the third time. He needs to get the message already: I don’t want him here. ๐Ÿ˜›

Klaus, at the campsite: Heya! Are you from around here? I'm kinda on vacation, just relaxing and focus-grouping a few things...

And tonight, an unusually large crowd joined me for K.K. Slider’s show. Bob, Peanut, Merengue, and Agent S were also in attendance as K.K. played “K.K. Chorale” for us all.
