Squirrel Swap

On Wednesday, I was quite surprised to find a goodbye letter from Peanut in the mail.

Um, like, hi, Jeff, Thanks for being so nice to me in Forest! I'll cherish our memories forever! TOTALLY FOREVER! Sincerely, Peanut

It’s been a while since I’ve had a villager move out without warning (Mitzi was the last one, in February). And like Mitzi, Peanut had become one of my favorites. Peanut was probably my #2 in town, behind Bones, in fact. She grew on me a lot during her 3-year stay. I’m sad to see her go. 🙁

I also received a letter from the postal division at town hall, telling me I earned 58,200 bells of interest this month.

When I visited Tank, he was flattered that I visited him so late at night…even though it was only 6 p.m.! He also said he thought I’d appreciate the musk of his room? He’s an odd dude sometimes. 😛

Tank: If anyone would appreciate this room's powerful musk... that person'd be you!

Yesterday, I found a new house in town. Peanut’s replacement has moved in already?! Another squirrel was inside, Filbert. He’s not bad, but he’s no Peanut.

Filbert: Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Filbert, bucko.

Today, I got to see the inside of Filbert’s house now that he is fully unpacked. He has some kiddie furniture, a couple of cacti, a couple of gyroids, a robo-dresser, a satellite, and a TV.

The inside of Filbert's house in Animal Crossing: Wild World.

Drift asked me to deliver a letter to Tank, and I agreed to help out. Tank really enjoyed the letter, even saying that Drift should be a stand-up comic!

Tank: Lemme tell you, that animal could be a stand-up comic! Check it out!

He showed me the letter, and I didn’t exactly agree with his assessment. 😛

Hey, Tank, Ha HA! Your letter made me laugh 'til my abs hurt! Reggae will be our victory theme!

Oh well. At least Tank enjoyed it. Drift later rewarded me with 510 bells. What a surprise. 😛

Of course, it’s June now…so many summer bugs are now available. I caught my first goliath beetle of the year tonight. Good luck if you’re out there bug hunting!

I caught the goliath beetle!

At town hall, I found a train set in the recycle bin. Finding furniture here seems less common than it does in City Folk, but I’ll gladly take some free items once in a while!

Have a great weekend, everyone! I’ll see you next time! 🙂

Peanut’s Wet Table

On Wednesday, Drift was looking to exercise (being the jock that he is). And he suggested some group calisthenics! Of course, that reminded me of the group stretching (aka aerobics) in the GameCube game and New Horizons.

Drift: Maybe we could do some group calisthenics together, rrrrribbit!

Yesterday, I shot down Gulliver’s UFO for the 35th time. When I woke Gulliver up, he insulted the shape of my head…and my intelligence as well.

Gulliver: AAAAH! What is that!? Why is its head shaped like that!? And...can it understand me!?

I gathered up his UFO parts for him, and in return, he gave me a plate armor. It was my 4th one.

Peanut gave me a sob story about how broke she is…

Peanut: I was so broke last month that I sold my favorite table to pay the bills.

She said she cried so hard that she made the table all wet.

Peanut: I bawled so hard that I made the table all wet. I'm still regretting it...

Wait, is that the table she sold? How did she make it wet if she already sold it? 🤔 At any rate, I thought she was about to ask me to buy something from her…but she didn’t. 🤷

Caroline asked me to deliver a gift to Bones, and it was an orange jumpsuit. Bones was surprisingly eager to try it on! 😆

Bones: Whoa! This is an authentic orange jumpsuit!

Caroline rewarded me with a plaster wall.

Octavian is the latest villager to be sick, so I gave him some medicine Wednesday and yesterday. By today, he was already over his cold! He said he’s back, and better than ever! I’m glad to see he’s feeling so well, especially so soon!

Octavian: Anyway, I'm back and better than ever.

Caroline was in an especially good mood today. She went on and on about how much she loves this town, and all of her friends here. How cute! 🙂

Caroline: Even though I live alone, I never feel lonely at all because of my friends!

That’s all I have for now, but I’ll be back with more next week. Have a great weekend, everyone! 🙂

Everything’s Coming Up Bones

Yay Day is coming up on Sunday, and my villagers are already preparing for the event. They’re practicing giving compliments, but they’re not very good at it. On Wednesday, Octavian told me I’m not all that dumb (sometimes).

Octavian: Hey, you! Uhhh... You're not all that dumb. Sometimes.
Thanks. You too.

Bones was finally over his cold, and he thanked me for the medicine by giving me some cabana flooring.

Yesterday, Octavian asked me to deliver a letter to Drift. Drift showed me the letter, which was a bit rude. 😆 Classic Octavian, I guess. Or classic crankies, to be more precise.

Hi, Drift, I read your letter and you still sound L-A-M-E! Eat pear salad daily to get stronger! -Octavian

But Drift had a good sense of humor about it, and he laughed it off. Octavian later rewarded me with a playroom rug. Why do villagers always have so many carpets to give away? 🤔

Today, Bones was the one looking forward to Yay Day…and he may have been going a bit overboard, talking about killing me with kindness. 😉

Bones: Good vibes! Compliments galore! Mad props! Death by mad props...

He even said he was going to compliment me until I puke!

Bones: Watch out, 'cause I'm gonna compliment you 'til you puke this Sunday!

All this, and I probably won’t even be playing on Sunday. 😆

Octavian asked me for a new greeting, so I gave him a Splatoon-themed greeting: “I’m a squid now.” 🐙

Octavian: I'm a squid now!

When I ran into Bones again, he seemed really happy. He said everything was “coming up Bones.”

Bones: I'm really happy today, yip yip! Everything's coming up Bones!

Of course, this reminded me of “Everything’s coming up Milhouse” from The Simpsons (and the subsequent meme). Most likely, that’s what they had in mind when they wrote this line. 😏

Have a great weekend, everyone! I hope to see you again next week (or tomorrow if you also read my City Folk blog)! 🙂
