Second Floor of the Museum

In Forest today, I saw that Molly’s house is about to be built. I suspect she’ll be moving in tomorrow.

Sign: This spot reserved for Molly's new home. -Nook's HomesAnd at Club LOL, Shrunk taught me the happiness emotion.

Shrunk: I'd like to discuss a very serious topic... Happiness! One good thing about the emotions is that you’re able to rearrange the icons in your list. So you’ll be able to move your favorites to the top of the list. I have some good ones so far, but I really need laughter. That one is crucial for online play.

Later on, I ran into Yuka. She was talking about coleslaw, and how she feels nostalgic about certain foods.

Yuka: You know, every time I eat coleslaw, I think of my childhood.Yuka: That's so good to hear! I worry about kids who eat nothing but frozen dinners.I also spotted Crazy Redd’s tent again! He sure seems to visit pretty often! Why can’t I see Saharah this often? I haven’t even seen her since I got my house!

Anyway, Redd had three paintings and one statue.Β  The statue was the beautiful statue I already had in my museum. I had a feeling it might have been the legitimate art piece once again, but I still had to take a chance on one of the paintings, just in case. I really had no clue this time, so I just have to hope for some random luck.

Redd: Whoa! I see you've got eyes only for that solemn painting there! I'd say it has eyes for you too! After that, I searched around town to find my fossils and the money rock. Once I did, I went up to the museum. The second floor is now complete and I got to meet Celeste.

Celeste: Welcome to Forest's personal-exhibit and gift-shop floor! She was telling me that the personal exhibit rooms can be decorated just as you would decorate your own house.

Celested: You can decorate the rooms in the same way you would decorate your very own home.I really have no idea what I would do with one. It sounds like it’s just like having an extra room, although it would be like a home-away-from-home. And there’s a rental fee of 10,000 bells, although she didn’t mention how long I get to keep the room. So I didn’t hand over the money just yet. Maybe if knew what to put in there…

Celeste: The rental fee for a personal exhibit space is 10,000 bells. Is that OK?Also, the second floor has a gift shop. I bought myself a silver shovel!

Celeste: That is a silver shovel!I then left the museum and headed over to the other shops on Main Street.Β  Super T&T didn’t have much I wanted, other than the fortune cookies. One of them gave me another Midna’s Mask. So I checked out the Able Sisters, and they had an unusual pair of glasses for sale.

Labelle: The funny glasses? That's not a bad choice.Funny glasses? They might be funny when they’re just sitting there… but once they’re on my face, they’re nothing short of terrifying!

Trying on the funny glasses. And with that, I wrapped up my night in Forest. Check back tomorrow for more!

Super T&T and a Private Beach

In today’s mail, I got a goodbye letter from Gabi (who moved out this morning), and also this letter from “Momz.” She attached a blue tie-dye shirt, which I put on.

Jeff, Your dad forgot our wedding anniversary, so I'm feeling kind of blue. But then again, I didn't marry him for his memory! JK! LOL! - MomzJust outside my house, I spotted two rocks next to each other. Each day, there will be a a rock that isn’t normally there. I like to think of it as a fake rock. When you hit it with your shovel, the rock shatters to reveal a gem. This one contained an amethyst, which is worth 2,000 bells.

Two rocks close to each other. One of them was a fake.I saw my next-door neighbor Big Top, who reminded me that Aurora is sick.

Big Top: I heard that Aurora caught a really bad cold.So I headed up to Main Street so that I could buy her some medicine. While there, I saw the new supermarket, Super T&T.

The outside of Super T&T.Timmy: Welcome! Welcome! Welcome to the grand opening of Super T&T! Come on in!Timmy informed me that this store has a place for items that can be hung on walls. Nice! Today’s wall item was an astro clock. A digital clock for your house that hangs on your wall? Pretty cool!

Timmy: Ah, an astro clock! A fine item, yes?As for the other shop in progress, it was still under construction for a second day. So I headed back to town and gave Aurora her medicine.

Aurora: Thank you very much. I feel a little bit better already. After going outside, I spotted an animal I wasn’t expecting. It was Phineas! I didn’t even recognize him without his balloons. In New Leaf, he apparently hands out badges that mark certain achievements. He gave me the Fish Maniac badge, which shows that I’ve caught many types of fish. I’m not sure if there’s any real point to it or not, but I’ll take it.

I got the Fish Maniac badge! It's proof I've caught many different kinds of fish!In the river, I spotted a bug that kept going underwater. It was a tricky little bugger, but after a few minutes of trying, I finally caught it. It’s a diving beetle.

I caught a diving beetle! It's like I have sonar or something! When I was over by the town tree, Katt asked to come over to my house right away.

Katt: Oh! Hey! I know this is short notice and also a little weird, but can I come over to your house right now?I reluctantly agreed, so I led the way home. Once inside, she would comment on some items (namely my metal guitar), but never asked to buy anything. After a few minutes, I was tired of her creeping around my house, so I went out the door to end her visit.

Katt: Hey, wait up! Are you heading out? Guess I'll be going too then! Thanks for having me over!Back outside, I ran into Fuchsia. She asked if I should get some sleep soon. It was only 5:00 pm! This isn’t the first time she has acted like it was later than it really was. Sorry, girlfriend, this is a Night Owl town now. Get used to it.

Fuchsia: Hey, Jeff... Don't you think you should get some rest soon? After collecting my fossils for the day, I headed back up to Main Street. All of my fossils were ones the museum already had. That’s fine, because it means more bells for me. I went into Club LOL and gave Shrunk three peaches, and he taught me the curiosity (question mark) emotion. That’s one of my favorites, so it’s good to have.

Shrunk, using the curiosity emotion: And a woman on the other side yells, "I'm selling candy! May I speak to the HEAD of this household?"When I went into Re-Tail, Yuka was in there, looking at the mango I had put up for sale. She asked me if the price was fair. I’m the one selling it, so what do you think I’m going to say?

Yuka: Hey, Jeff, I'm thinking about buying your mango. Do you think the price is fair?Yuka: I knew it! Oh, I'm so glad to hear that I'm getting fair price. Tsk tsk!Next stop? The island! I took the boat over, and the shop there finally had the black wet suit I wanted! Sweet!

Grams: Aye. A black wet suit. Ye be needin' one if ye wanna swim in the sea!But I also did some fishing while I was there. I caught my first Napoleonfish!

I caught a Napoleonfish! Vive la me!When I was done, I returned to town and put my wet suit on. Time to swim! In the northeast part of town, I have a small, private beach! You can only get to it by swimming in the ocean, and only people with wet suits can swim.

Standing on my private beach!I swam the whole length of the ocean. I even snuck up on Kapp’n!

Sneaking up on Kapp'n by swimming behind his boat. When I was done playing in the water, I sold the rest of my fish. And I had enough to pay off the museum renovation! It will be done tomorrow!

Isabelle: We've met our collection goal for the museum renovation project! It should be complete tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by, and please check back tomorrow for another update!

First DLC: Rainbow Screen

I was browsing through the information at the train station and found this little tidbit about best friends:

Sign: When you set the best-friend restriction, only best friends will know when your ticket gate is open.So by using theΒ  best friend feature, you can control who can come in your town. Although most of the time I open my gate, I’ll be allowing anyone on my roster, this allows me to plan private parties as well. This is a great feature to have!

Anyway, I got my beautiful statue in the mail from Crazy Redd. Turns out, it’s real! So the art section of my museum finally has something in it!

A beautiful statue is the first piece of art in my museum art gallery. While on Main Street, I headed into Club LOL to give Shrunk a snack. I gave him three peaches, and he taught me the sadness emotion. Sadness was not a rare emotion in City Folk, so I’m not so sure about my theory now (about multiple fruit getting rare emotions). Oh well. At any rate, sadness is a good emotion to have.

Shrunk, using the sadness emotion: And then the ghost called out again! "No more... No more... No more...JOKES!"I then stopped in the post office to check for new DLC.

Pelly: Would you like to connect to the internet and download any available limited-time-only items? That’s right, the first DLC item is now available–a rainbow screen! Don’t worry, it’ll still be available when the game comes out later this month.

Pelly: Sorry to keep you waiting! I hope you enjoy your new rainbow screen! But before heading home to look at the rainbow screen, I finished my shopping run. As expected, T&T Mart is being remodeled. So that means no fortune cookies today. Aww, and I was hungry too…

Blue tarp covering T&T Mart as the store is being remodeled. But that’s not the only construction on Main Street today! Something new is going up next to the Able Sisters. I think it’s going to be Kicks, the shoe shop.

Blue tarp covering construction next to Able Sisters. It's going to be Kicks!I then returned home. Let’s take a look at that rainbow screen!

The rainbow screen DLC item. It’s somewhat transparent for a screen, so you might not want to go behind it to change your clothes. But the rainbow screen looks nice, and it goes good with my wallpaper.

I headed over to the camp site and saw that Molly’s tent is gone. She’s supposed to be moving into Forest, so I think I’ll be seeing her again before too long.

No tents at the campsite today. And speaking of moving animals, I went to visit Gabi…for the last time. Today is her last day in town. How sad……… jk πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Gabi: Look who the rabbit dragged in! I've been waiting for you to stop by. I just HAD to say thank you! After finding three fossils, I went to the museum to have them identified. But oddly, Blathers was using the thought emotion. There was an option to ask him what was wrong, so I did. He said that even though the museum is starting to fill up, it’s still not getting the attendance he was hoping for. So he wants to use the second floor of the museum (which currently isn’t being used) for an exhibit where the residents of Forest can display their own collections!

Blathers: Oh yes, what we need is an exhibit space where everyone in Forest can display what THEY want!He said he already talked to Isabelle, and it will now be one of the options for a new community project. I think I will indeed make this the next project.

I was about done playing for the afternoon, when I realized I hadn’t spoken to my favorite villager, Aurora! So I went to her house and found that she was sick!

Aurora: Bla-chooo! Ugh... I just can't shake this cold! I wonder if I'm incubating some rare superbacteria...I just need to buy her some medicine. But wait! I can’t! The little Nooklings’ store is closed today! Uh-oh! Now the question is, should I hope she’s still sick tomorrow so I can buy her medicine so she doesn’t think I ignored her?Β  That sounds awful, I know! Hopefully she will forgive me.

There is one other thing that I found peculiar today. When I first started up the game and came out of my house, my character was doing an emotion–it looked like he was sweating. Is that because it’s considered summer now and I don’t have an air conditioner? Or does it mean something else? Update: It means I was wearing long sleeves in summer.

Later on, I remembered that it was (traditional) K.K. night, so I went to Club LOL to get a new song. This time, I was able to request a song and I chose K.K. Faire.

K.K.: Name your lick and I'll belt it out, Sir Groovitude. After that, I tried out a tip I got from TheAnimaldude55. He told me that when you’re on the boat to the island, if you click the touch screen a few times, Kapp’n will stop his song and just get straight to the island. It’s a helpful time saver, although Kapp’n does seem to get a bit offended.

Kapp'n: ys be pushin' the button or what have ye! All clicky clicky click... Be ye in that much of a rush?Kapp'n: Well, if that be th' deal... I'll quit me singin' an' just get us to the destination. And while on the island, I caught my first regular shark.

I caught a shark! GAH! Why am I holding it?!And just a general note about this blog. If you ever want to bookmark or link to a specific day’s blog entry, use the dated link at the end of the blog entry. If you want to look through other days’ entries, use the calendar in the sidebar.
