I started up the game and saw that my illuminated tree was completed today. It’s not much to see in the daytime, but it’s a different story altogether at night.
While I was out watering my flowers, I spotted Phineas! He gave me the Prof. of Ichthyology badge for catching every type of fish. This is my second gold badge.
Over at the police station, Copper told me that Crazy Redd was in town. And while I was there, I picked up this coat hanger! So exciting!
When I went into Redd’s tent, I was only able to rule out one of his four items. I ended up buying this valiant statue.
Once the sun went down, I attended the completion ceremony for the illuminated tree. I think it looks really good all lit up.
Once the ceremony ended, Kidd pinged me. He offered me a neutral painting for 7,056 bells. I took the risk and bought it.
But before I went to check out if it was real or not, I stopped to take a seat on my metal bench. As expected, the illuminated tree is easily visible when sitting. Now I just need some snow!
I also added a (different) picture of the illuminated tree to my town page, so feel free to check that out if you’d like.
Up on Main Street, Luna told me that Ryan from Whaleway was my most recent dream visitor. And Blathers had good news for me: The neutral painting from Kidd was real! I donated it and took a look at it; Benedict was also there enjoying the growing art gallery.

Up at T&T Emporium, I bought this Jingle clock. It’s a new addition to the furniture series. And I almost missed it, because a lot of times, I don’t even notice the items hanging on the walls of the store.
I know Phineas owes me a badge. But even though there weren’t any special visitors in town, there was no sign of him. So I got out my megaphone and started yelling for him. But the only replies I got were Benedict’s “Hey! I’m over here!” and Kapp’n’s clueless “Gar?”
I guess I’ll have to wait a while longer. I met Tabby over by the bridge, and she was complaining about how there’s nothing going on and she’s so bored. To quote Harvey Danger, “If you’re bored, then you’re boring.”
And by another bridge, I saw my favorite duck Molly. She told me she wants plants for Christmas! Speaking of boring, what would be a more boring present than a plant? Maybe an egg.
After circling around town, I saw Tabby again. But I’m not going to insult her this time, because she just helped me out! She suggested an illuminated tree for a public works project! I was just talking about how I was hoping someone would suggest that
This is what it looks like…when not lit up:
But of course it will look its best when it is lit up. It will resemble a Christmas tree, which is perfect for this time of year–especially when it’s snowing. I wasn’t sure where to put it, so I walked around town looking for a good spot. Since I wanted it to be visible from my metal bench, I decided on this spot:
I went up to the post office to withdraw some money from my bank account, and then returned to pay off the project. It will be completed tomorrow.
And last but not least, I gave Aurora a new greeting. Ice witch, it is!
And if you haven’t seen my new slideshow of New Leaf pictures taken in November, be sure to check it out.
I also spoke with Kidd, and he mentioned that people think he and Tabby are cousins.
The most interesting part is that he didn’t deny it! Who wouldn’t deny being related to Tabby? Even if it was true! But he said he wants to protect Tabby’s privacy. Wow, I never would have guessed. You should have kept that info to yourself, Kidd.
Up on Main Street, Luna told me that Melina from Bluebell was my most recent dream visitor. And Gracie has a holiday dress available, in case anyone wants to dress up like a Christmas tree.
Speaking of holiday clothes, Beth submitted a Christmas tree sweater and a girls’ Santa dress to the
Katrina was in town, so I paid her 500 bells to tell my fortune. She told me that an official top will be the key to avoiding disaster. I really don’t care about her fortunes that much… At this point, I’m just doing them so I can get her to open up her shop on Main Street. I’m not sure how many more fortunes I need, but I’ll be sure to let you know when it happens.
I then did some fishing in the ocean. After a while, I found what I was looking for: an oarfish!
That means I’ve now caught every fish in the game!
I took both of my new catches and donated them to the museum, but Blathers didn’t say anything about the fish collection being complete! My list (which I filled out after donating each fish) seems to be complete, so I don’t think I’ve missed donating one.
