When I started up the game today, Pete was at my door with a letter from Nintendo. This shogi piece was attached to the letter.

But that wasn’t the only DLC available today. If you go to a Nintendo Zone location, you can also get this sushi platter.

Both items can be re-ordered from the catalog.

Tom Nook has installed the golden roof on my house. Unfortunately, it just looks like golden tiles, as opposed to the solid gold I was envisioning. 😛 It’s okay, but I’ll probably change from the golden roof back to the astro roof when I get the chance.

When I went to the Roost, I saw Kapp’n enjoying a coffee. He told me that inside, he’s really an awful tyrant.

I worked my normal shift, and Tucker came in for coffee. That is one ugly elephant; he makes me glad that I have Big Top in town.

I checked out a StreetPass home I got at the Happy Homes Showcase, and it had some modern furniture that was customized with sapphires. It looked really nice. I’m going to try to get some modern furniture and customize it with emeralds, if I can.

Over by town hall, I listened in a conversation between Rolf and Skye.

Rolf was convincing Skye she had something on her face, and when she falls for it, he says it was just her nose.

With my house fully paid off, it was time for me to add a new public works project. So I went inside town hall and looked at the options. I decided to remodel my train station.

I think this is the one that people refer to as the modern train station, even though it doesn’t actually have a name.

Molly asked me to make a delivery to Benedict. So I took him the package and he rewarded me with a lychee. That’s an unusual gift.

Before I finished up my day in Forest, I made one last stop at Nook Homes. I decided to cancel my theme challenge (which judges both the outside and inside of your house) and go back to the indoor-only scoring. I still need some of the regular HHA awards, so I’ll try to get those first before switching back to the theme challenges.

My latest dream visitor today was lillylei from GigVille. So if you’re reading this, hello lillylei!

Happy Explorer’s Day! I’ll get to the festivities in a minute. But first, I got a letter in the mail from the Happy Home Academy today. They congratulated me on scoring over 300,000 points in the theme challenge, so they have a special home-exterior part for me.

I went up to the HHA to see what the part was, and Lyle told me it’s a golden roof. I don’t necessarily think it will look good with my astro exterior, but I decided to give it a try anyway to see what it looks like. It will be done tomorrow.

A letter from Big Top was also in my mailbox. He thanked me for letting him visit my house yesterday, and he also sent me this sconce to hang on my wall.

Explorer’s Day

For Explorer’s Day (also known as Columbus Day), Isabelle was handing out sailboat models at the event plaza.

There was also a special Explorer’s Day face-cutout standee at the plaza. Oh, I think I’m getting seasick.

Back at my house, I took a look at the sailboat model.

I watered my flowers and then headed up to Main Street. I updated my dream at the Dream Suite, where Luna told me that Lori from Olympus recently enjoyed my dream town. Hi Lori!

In Able Sisters, I saw Gabi standing next to Canberra. They were just standing there, looking guilty.

I actually hadn’t seen Gabi on Main Street for a while, so I had been hoping she was gone for good. Not so.

When I started up the game today, Lyle met me outside my house. He told me that since my house is fully paid off, I’m now a VIP member of the Happy Homes Academy. I’m now eligible for home exterior evaluations.

So exciting… He said there will now be theme challenges, and he gave me a choice of themes. I chose sci-fi, since I have the astro exterior to my house. But I don’t really care about this stuff.

Anyway, I headed over to Re-Tail. I never picked up my golden furniture from yesterday, so I made sure to do that today. It was another golden clock! Ugh! This is at least my fifth one, but I’ve lost count at this point.

When I went back outside, Rolf told me he was going to move out of town. Sorry tiger, but you’re not allowed to move.

I then went to meet my newest neighbor, Skye the wolf. I wonder if she thinks I’m a wolf too. Welcome to Forest, Skye.

She moved in from Chris’s town Ruby. Chris visited me on Friday night. I have now updated my town page to reflect Skye’s presence and my current map.

When I spoke to Big Top, he invited himself over to my house. These visits are extremely boring to me. I’ll talk to the visitor a few times and maybe change rooms, but basically you’re just waiting for them to leave.

Once he eventually left, I went up to Main Street for my daily shopping run. I started off at the museum. After I got my fossils identified by Blathers, I decided to “rent” a third exhibit room upstairs. For now, I’m going to use it as a trophy room. I have my bug and fish trophies in there, as well as some Happy Home Academy awards as well. I may put villager pics in there eventually, but for now I’m keeping Tabby’s pics in my house to make it scary for Halloween.

In the Dream Suite, Luna informed me that Alli from Paradise was the most recent dream visitor to Forest. Hello if you’re reading this, Alli!

Next, I went into Nook Homes. Tom Nook was saying nothing about any reward for fully paying off all my debt. This is quite disappointing that there’s no reward in New Leaf, especially when you have to pay more than ever to fully expand your house. He was only telling me that I could still change the exterior of my house. Bah. Nook is a crook!

Over in the Able Sisters, I purchased this mummy mask. I believe I have all six of the Halloween masks now.

When I was done on Main Street, I did a little diving. I caught my second scallop, and Pascal popped up and asked me for it. I gave it to him.

He thought it was “totally righteous.”

In return, he gave me a ship compass. This is my first item from the pirate ship theme in New Leaf, since my first scallop went into the museum and not to Pascal. But this is what the ship compass looks like:
