As expected, I got a letter from Gulliver in the mail today. He was in France, and he sent me a model of the Eiffel Tower. I’ll include a picture later on in this blog entry.
As I started my walk around town, I saw one of my favorite villagers, Big Top. He was talking about how much he loves peaches. In fact, he couldn’t stop drooling, just thinking about them.
He asked me to find one for him. Since peaches are my town fruit, that was an easy thing to do.
I took one to him and he thanked me by giving me a lovely love seat. How lovely.
I then spotted Katrina’s tent, so I went inside to have my fortune told. Katrina was talking about the fall harvest festival, and said that blue gym shorts were the key to good fortune upon health.
I have no idea what that means, aside from the fact that I’m supposed to wear blue gym shorts. How could it possibly be related to the harvest festival, which is more than five months away? I’m so confused. Well, I didn’t have any blue gym shorts regardless, so it’s a moot point.
After leaving the tent, I saw my newest villager, Molly. She asked to come to my house. Sure thing, ducky.
So we went to my house, and she seemed to enjoy it. Don’t be fooled by the following picture, it’s not the mystic statue talking to me.
She then asked about the rest of my house, so I took her upstairs. My upstairs room is small and doesn’t have much in it. She wasn’t a fan of this room.
After going back downstairs, she said it was time for her to go. She didn’t stick around as long as Aurora did the last time I had a visitor over.
Anyway, I went back outside and found my money rock and four fossils. So it was time for my daily trip to Main Street. In Club LOL, Shrunk taught me the sorrow (crying) emotion.
And after collecting my 5,000 bells for updating my dream town, I had enough money to finish off my house payment! And this time, I actually had a choice. I could get more space (which would presumably make my upstairs bigger) or I could add another room. I opted for a new room.
But then I had another choice to make: I could add a room to the left of my main room, to the right, to the back, or I could add a basement. At first, I was going to add a basement, but I saw it would cost 428,000 bells…ouch. So I backed out to see how much a back room would cost: 348,000 bells. That’s a little better, so I went with that.
In Super T&T, there was an LED display available. The stars would scroll across the screen and it looked pretty cool, so I bought it.
And in the museum, I thought of a good use for my exhibit room: Gulliver items! Even though I still have my balloon furniture in there too (for now), I think a collection of Gulliver’s items from around the world would be perfect for a museum exhibit!
I actually had to re-order my tribal mask from my catalog since I sold my original, but that’s okay. After that, I headed back to town.
I found a lost item on the ground, so I had to go around asking everyone if it belonged to them. To be honest, this part of the game is a bit annoying. After asking almost everyone, I finally found out it belonged to Katt. As thanks, she gave me a bucket. I was overflowing with joy.
But while I was in Katt’s house, I noticed she had a drum set. So I banged on her drums for a while. Musical instruments are a bit different in New Leaf; they don’t play the whole town tune like they did in previous games. They just play one note. So you have to keep mashing on the A button if you want to make some noise music.
But an interesting thing happened after I was done playing her drums: She started applauding me! That was pretty cool, and I really like the fact that New Leaf has details like this.
My last stop of the day was a return home. I put up the LED display in my house. I was hoping there was a way to customize a message that could scroll across, but apparently there isn’t. A bit disappointing, but it still looks pretty cool.

I know a lot of you will be getting the game this weekend, so I hope you have a great time with it! And remember to check out my face guide to get you started with a face that you like! I’ll see you all tomorrow with another update!
I then returned to town where I got some good news from Yuka…she’s moving out!
I only have a few more days left with her! And for those of you who like me having a hated rival in town, don’t worry, I still have Katt.
I then decided to do something new…cliff diving! Once you have your wet suit, you can jump off the cliff into the ocean (at least at the part where there’s not a beach underneath). Wheeee!

Cliff diving is so fun! I also noticed that while you’re wearing a wet suit, pressing the A button makes you swim. Even if you’re on land! Your character still does the animation, and it’s pretty funny!
But while I was on the beach, I spotted Gulliver. I woke him up and he gave me his clues, and once again, they were very easy.
But he got a little carried away…
The feeling’s not mutual, sailor man. But I think I’ll be getting an Eiffel tower from him in the mail tomorrow. As I went back up the ramp, I bumped into Big Top. He wanted to trade his big dot shirt for my cityscape wall. No way! Then he called me weird for not wanting to trade! Rude.
After making my rounds and digging up four fossils, I headed back up to Main Street. The museum gift shop had a silver net for sale! Celeste said it’s available because I’ve caught 30 types of bugs so far.
After buying it, I did the rest of my shopping for the day. And I decided to see what would happen if you checked for DLC even if you’ve already received it.
Great. Now Pelly thinks I’m a greedy criminal or something.
Since I bought the silver shovel from the museum gift shop the other day, I decided to put my regular shovel for sale at Re-Tail. I’ll be opening my New Leaf gate on Sunday around 8pm Eastern U.S. time, and I figured there’s a good chance at least one of my visitors won’t have a shovel yet. So one of them will be able to make use of it, I’m sure.
I recently bought an axe, but I hadn’t used it yet. So I cut down a tree today to try it out. It works. 😛
I also tested out the ability to sit on the tree stump.
That also worked, although I did get some splinters in my butt. Just kidding.
In all, it gave me three amethysts, a sapphire, a ruby, an emerald, a silver nugget, and a gold nugget. Jackpot! Or so I thought. When I sold them, the total came to 19,000 bells. Now that is more than the usual amount of money I get from money rocks (16,100 bells), but it’s not a huge difference.
A bit later, I saw Tex. He asked me for a new catchphrase to replace his current one, “picante.” I know he’s a penguin, but with a name like Tex, he just has to start calling people “cowboy.”
And before I was done playing, I ran into Yuka. She put on a dazzling display of her supreme intelligence.
That’s the end of today’s blog entry, but I have a couple videos for you. The first one is a slideshow I made of many of my pictures taken in my first month with the game:
