Bunnie, Rudeness, Igloo

Today, I received a goodbye letter from a squirrel. But it was Nibbles, not my newest villager Blaire, who moved out.

Jeff! I awoke the other day with the wanderlust, so I just up and left. Wild, huh? On the road, destination unknown! Anyway, thanks for dealing with my craziness! Cheery-bye! -Nibbles
Cheery-bye?

Up at Nookington’s, I bought a bold check shirt just to have something new to wear.

Timmy: That would be a bold check shirt yo

Just south of the shop, I ran into my newest neighbor, Bunnie. She’s cute. 🙂 She last lived in Forest back in 2011.

Bunnie: Hey, how's the evening air treating you? Nice? Say, have we met before, tee-hee?
Yes, we have met before.

Puck informed me that he painted my roof green! Of course, the snow covers the roof now, so I can’t really see it. But that raises the question of how he actually painted it without removing the snow on top. Hmmm… 😉

Puck: Oh, Jeff. Your rooftop was getting dirty, so I painted it for you, brrrrrrrrr!

I was going to make a trip to the island, but my Game Boy Advance wasn’t charged…not even enough to stay on for the two seconds I needed it to trigger Kapp’n’s boat. 😛

Tom said that he hadn’t seen me in a long time, probably because I ate something I found on the ground and got really sick. And then he called me a touchy old grouch.

Tom: WAAAR har har har! Oh, don't get mad, you touchy old grouch!

Tom was being a bit rude, but he wasn’t the only one. When I declined the offer to hear Ursala’s dieting tips, she accused me of being six years old…and she also called me a big loser. 😛

Ursala: BO-ring!? What are you, six years old?!

Sydney mentioned not seeing me for four months, which was surprising. I must’ve missed her somehow the last few times I’ve played. Or maybe she was just already in bed by the time I got around to her house.

Nearby, I found an igloo. Even though they’re not as pretty as they are in New Leaf, igloos are a cool thing to see in town. It’s a shame that most Animal Crossing games don’t have them.

Walking towards an igloo in Animal Crossing.

Candi the mouse was inside. She was talking about playing in the snow, but she wanted to wolf down some chowder first. That looks like an awful lot of chowder for a mouse!

Candi: I'd go myself, but I'm not moving an inch until I gobble down some of this chowder, in my ears!

Thanks for stopping by! See you all with another entry in February! 🙂

Blaire’s Back

My old friend Jane has left town…again. She’s not in the newer games, so it’s rare that I see her anywhere. But it was nice to meet her once again last month.

My dearest Jeff, I'm sure you've become an emotional wreck looking for me, but I'm gone now! I'm sorry I left without a word. It isn't like I don't like you. It was just time to move on. Fare thee well! -Jane

Jingle sent me a gift in the mail, the Balloon Fight NES game. He sends the same thing every Christmas. But unlike most years, I actually decided to play a game of it this time. I ended up scoring 43,250 points.

Playing Balloon Fight (NES) in Animal Crossing.

I got a nice surprise when I dug up the daily glowing spot: 30,000 bells instead of the usual 1,000. Nice!

Check it out! I dug up 30,000 bells!

Forest now has a part of town just for squirrels, it seems. Static lives in Acre E-4, and Nibbles lives right above in Acre D-4. And next door in Acre D-3, Blaire just moved in. She has a lot of fruit furniture!

The inside of Blaire's house.

Blaire also lived in Forest back in 2013.

Belle insulted my sense of fashion tonight, telling me I should stick to shopping from the discount racks. What, so a Rubik’s Cube shirt isn’t in style? 😉

Belle: Hmm... Maybe you're better off shopping from the discount racks, cuddles!

Hank was telling me about the New Year’s Eve party coming up tomorrow night. I probably won’t be participating in this game, but I should do it one of these years!

Hank: Everyone's out partying all night long. It's killer! You gotta check it out!

Have a great New Year, everyone! Stay safe, have fun, and I’ll see you all again soon. Never Stop Crossing! 🙂

Sale Day Haul

Alli the gator has moved out of town since last time; I received her goodbye letter in the mail today.

Dearest Jeff! During my entire move, I was sure I was forgetting something. You know what it was? I forgot to say adieu to you. I hope this letter will ease your devastation... All the best! -Alli

In Acre C-4, I spotted a new house in the spot where Jane the gorilla once lived in the early days of Forest.

A clifftop house in Acre C-4.
Acre C-4 was about to yield an explosive revelation.

I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be funny if Jane returned to the same exact spot where she lived before?” When I walked in, I couldn’t believe it. It was Jane!!! I audibly said to myself “Get out of here!” 😆😆😆

Jane: Oh, good evening to you. Tell me... Do I know you, chimp?

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t particularly like Jane. In fact, I always thought she was rude and annoying (as snooty villagers tend to be). But having her back after all this time, and especially living in the same exact spot, is kind of a nice dash of nostalgia that I certainly wasn’t expecting when I started up the game today. Welcome back, Jane. 🙂

Today is the day after Thanksgiving (also known as Black Friday), and Animal Crossing celebrates the occasion with a Sale Day at Nook’s shop. The first floor of Nookington’s is filled with grab bags, which can be purchased for 2,022 bells.

Tom Nook: That's a grab bag. The price is 2,022 bells.

I bought four grab bags, and each one contains three items. My 12-item haul included two furniture items, two wallpapers, one carpet, four pinwheels, and three shirts. Here’s the full haul:

  • reel-to-reel
  • exotic wardrobe
  • green wall
  • parlor wall
  • cabin rug
  • 2 green pinwheels
  • striped pinwheel
  • fancy pinwheel
  • puzzling shirt
  • five-ball shirt
  • caveman tunic

I kept the puzzling shirt and one of the green pinwheels. I don’t think I’ve ever thought about why this shirt was “puzzling,” but then it hit me like a ton of bricks: I think it’s supposed to look like a Rubik’s Cube!

Me wearing the puzzling shirt and holding a green pinwheel.

It was snowing in town tonight, and Static said it was best to spend a night like this indoors with a cup of iced coffee, listening to some music. Sounds great to me! Maybe this is why I like Static so much. 😉

Static: ...it's best to stay in, drink a cup of iced coffee, and listen to some music.
OK, but why are you outdoors then? 😉

Baabara was also talking about the snow, and how beautiful it is. But she was enjoying it through the window, instead of being outside standing in it.

Baabara: The snow falling at night looks so picturesque!

She mentioned how quiet the snow is, and I think she was hinting that she wanted me to leave so she could enjoy it in silence. Fine by me. 😛

Baabara: Do you even get what I'm trying to tell you, Jeff?

If you haven’t seen annual slideshow of best screenshots that I posted late last month, here it is: The 20th Year in Pictures. Enjoy!

See you all next time! Happy holidays! 🎄
