Harvest Festival

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Thanksgiving Day means it’s harvest festival time in Animal Crossing.

Everyone... The Harvest Festival is about to begin!Franklin the turkey is in town, but he’s deathly afraid that someone is going to eat him. He will be hiding behind buildings and trees. Your job is to snatch the forks and knives from the large table and give them to Franklin. In exchange, he will give you a piece of harvest furniture.

Franklin: You look harmless enough. But those other guys! They're thinking with their stomachs!Animal Crossing: City Folk on Wii also has the harvest festival. And although City Folk may do Halloween and Christmas Eve better, Thanksgiving is best on GameCube. For one thing, the atmosphere is better. City Folk has some dining tables at town hall, but there’s nobody at the tables…only Tortimer standing near them. On GameCube, the tables actually have food on them. Special festive music is playing, and there will be five animals at the tables talking, laughing, and enjoying themselves.

Hank: Let's mingle it up! Today's all about fun and friendship! And yes, they actually drink from the cups!

Ursala: It takes a sophisticated palate to truly savor fruit juice. But even aside from all that, finding Franklin is easier on GameCube because you don’t have to give away your knife and fork just to get a hint like you do in City Folk. This means less backtracking and quicker Franklin finds.

Puck: Hey...I just saw this weird guy in acre B.Regardless of which Animal Crossing game you’re playing (if any), have a great Thanksgiving, everyone!

Franklin: Ah, yes. This harvest TV should show my appreciation.

Mint Out, Valise In, Excitebike Dug Up

I checked my mail and found a goodbye letter from Mint.Mint's goodbye letter.I went around town pulling weeds and digging up fossils until I stumbled into my newest neighbor, Valise, a kangaroo.  I don’t recall ever seeing Valise before.

Valise: Have we met before, tadder? I'm almost positive the answer is no.I went by the police station and Copper told me that Wendell would be in town on Monday. When I got near the post office, I saw a dig spot, so I got out my shovel. But it wasn’t a gyroid or a fossil or even a pitfall. It was a NES game, Excitebike! Of course I already have Excitebike in my basement, but it’s always a nice little surprise when you find a NES game.

Check it out! I dug up Excitebike!K.K. was in town, so I watched him perform a song. I requested K.K. Condor.

Requesting a song: K.K. Condor.I then went into my house and decided to play a quick game of Excitebike before I ended my day in Forest.

Fishing Tournament

I started up the game and saw that the fishing tournament was in progress. However, it only had a few minutes left, so I didn’t participate.

Tom: This here's my spot. Ain't nobody gonna pry me from it today.Katrina’s tent was there, so I stopped in and got my fortune told. She told me that money would be coming my way.

Katrina: On a train, a scared-stiff board game will be yelling loudly...I circled around town, and when I got to Static’s acre, Static appeared to fall from the sky! You can’t really tell by the picture so much, but I will likely include a video of it in a future “GameCube Moments” video on Youtube.

Static falling from the sky?I found the day’s money rock, but I messed up and only got five money bags from it. However, Katrina’s spell increased the value of them. Two of them were 10,000 bell bags and the other three were 1,000 bell bags. So instead of 2,300 bells, it was 23,000 bells. That 50 bells for the fortune really paid off.

Ursala then asked me if I ever notice things like who’s dating who and who’s mad at who. I told her not really, and she called me a liar. What nerve.

Ursala: Oh, you're such a liar!So I made a nice little spot for her.

Putting Ursala in jail.On my way back home, I checked the bulletin board to see who won the fishing tournament. It was Mint, who won with a 17-inch fish.

Champion: Mint, for catching a 17-incher!
