How the Wii to Wii U Transfer Affects ACCF

Before I get into what happened in ACCF today, I’m first going to describe what will happen if you transfer your ACCF save from your Wii to your Wii U. There’s a lot of confusion about what will work on Wii U and what won’t, so hopefully this will clear things up.

Here’s what will work:
  • Your town, villagers, and items remain intact.
  • Friend rosters remain intact and you can still play on Wi-Fi.
  • You can still use USB keyboards for typing.
  • You can still take pictures and save them to SD cards.
  • You can still get Katie/Kaitlin, and presumably Blanca as well.
  • Animals can still move to/from your friends’ towns.
Features that used WiiConnect24 will no longer function
  • You will not receive any new DLC. But Nintendo stopped sending out new DLC in 2012 anyway.
  • You can no longer send or receive letters to/from friends in other towns. (Exception: A visitor can send you a letter if they are in your town when they mail it).
  • You will not see friends’ items at the auction house.
  • You will not see friends’ rooms as the model room at the HRA.

Also note that once you move your data to Wii U, you can not move it back. So be sure before you transfer. If you have any other questions, let me know and I’ll update this entry if necessary.

Back to the usual bloggy stuff

Last night, before I transferred my data to my Wii U, I made a test town on my Wii U to test many of the things listed above. This town is Bananas!

The town map of Bananas.Bananas had Rolf, which is always a good thing, but I hated the town layout. Especially without a bridge in the northwest corner of town, it made for a very long walk from Nook’s to town hall. And that’s a walk you have to make many times when working for Nook at the beginning. But it was kind of nice to see Nook’s Cranny again. I haven’t seen it in years.

Standing outside of Nook's Cranny in Animal Crossing: City Folk (ACCF).After finishing my job for Nook and testing things out, I transferred my Wii town Forest to my Wii U. So Bananas no longer exists.

Meanwhile, In Forest

Today in Forest, I got a goodbye letter from Iggly, who moved out this morning.

Yo, Jeff, This is it, my last day in Forest! Living here made me realize just how burly I really am. Tell everyone thanks for being so scrawny! -IgglyI talked to Del, who told me that Saharah is in town. He says he has heard her speak perfect English before, when she was a comedian at the Marquee theater! He figured that her poor grammar was a ploy to increase sales. I don’t quite follow that logic, especially since she just exchanges carpets/wallpapers, not sells them.

Del: the funny part is I've heard her speak perfectly. She used to perform stand-up at the Marquee.I met up with Egbert, who gave me a new nickname: Bud.

Egbert: A huh huh huh! All right then, from now on, you're gonna be bud!At the site of Iggly’s old house, you can see how I had to re-route my path around his house. I hope no one else moves into that spot.

My re-routed path around the spot where Iggly's house was.I eventually found Saharah and then asked all nine of my villagers for old wallpaper. Not a single one had any to give me.

Later, I saw Anabelle and Amelia chatting. Anabelle had a flea on her, so I got my net out and caught it. But when I talked to Amelia, she actually wanted that flea! In fact, she gave me a modern dresser for it!

Amelia: That's what you call a win-win situation! I wanted a flea very much! That’s all for today, but the harvest festival is tomorrow! I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!
