Genji Arrives

Sunday was the 6th anniversary of Animal Crossing: City Folk’s release in America, so it’s time for my yearly slideshow of pictures. So without further ado, here is my look back at the sixth year of ACCF, which included the end of online play.

When I checked my mail today, I found a letter from Chip. He congratulated me on winning Saturday’s fishing tournament, and he sent me my prize, a silver trophy.

Chester was outside my house, saying that holding a shovel makes him look tough. Dude, it’s impossible for a panda to look tough. Nothing personal.

Chester: Doesn't this shovel make me look tougher? Like you wouldn't want to mess with me?A bit later, I saw Chester standing underneath the cliff. I couldn’t resist sprinkling some water on his head.

Me standing on a cliff, sprinkling Chester (down below) with water from my watering can.
That that, tough guy.

To my surprise, I found a new house in one of my former flower-breeding areas. This spot has not been used by villagers very often, so it feels weird having a house there.

The new house in town, the middle of my flower breeding area. When I went inside, I was even more surprised to see that Genji was my new neighbor!

Genji: WHOA! You must be one of my new Forest neighbors! What's UP?! My name's Genji!I know Genji quite well, because he’s lived in my GameCube town for at least 10 years or so. He’s pretty cool, and it’s good to have him in town. He instantly becomes one of my three favorite current villagers, along with Lily and Fang. Broccolo, who I didn’t care for at first, has grown on me and is probably my 4th favorite villager at the moment.

Meanwhile, Fang was also walking around with a shovel. He said it made him feel like an explorer. He said he’s going to dig a hole so deep, he’ll find another country at the bottom! Good luck with that.

Fang: I thought so! I'm going to go dig a hole so deep that there's another country at the bottom!I’ll be back with another update tomorrow, so I hope to see you then!

Carp Fishing Tourney

As soon as I started up the game today, Broccolo greeted me and told me that carp was the fish I needed to catch for the fishing tournament. That saved me a chat with Chip, and that’s a good thing. Chip likes to ramble on, as you may already know.

Broccolo: The name of the game in today's Carp Fishing Tourney is size. Also, carp.I went in Lily’s house to say hello, but she wasn’t being very polite!

Lily: What do you think of this top I'm wearing? Nice, hm, unlike you?As I started fishing for carp, I noticed the acre dividing line in the river. It’s not the first time I’ve noticed it, of course, but I don’t think I’ve taken a picture of it. At least not lately. Actually it’s a bit harder to see in this small version of the picture, but it was quite obvious when playing on my TV screen. Still, you can see it if you look closely.

Look closely and you can see a seam in the river where one acre meets the next.I kept my eyes open for carp, and I kept fishing until I broke Fang’s record with a 34.4 inch fish. Chip gave me a Diver Dan as my prize.

Chip: Ah, it's...a 34.4 incher! At that point, I wasn’t interested in fishing any more, so I just left the game on for a while. After 6:00, I returned to see if my fish held on to the top spot to win the tournament. It did! A winner is you!

Chip: The lucky winner, with a monstrous 34.4-inch carp, is you!Chip told me he’ll send my prize to me in the mail.

I’m Not the Mayor

I got a letter from Fang in the mail today, thanking me for the medicine I gave him recently. He also sent me a fire hydrant along with the letter. I’m not sure I understand the significance of it, but thanks, I guess.

There was a new message on the bulletin board, stating that snow flurries begin falling this month. Winter is indeed on the way.

~Weather Forecast~ Snow flurries begin in November, and nights and mornings start to get colder. Be careful not to catch a cold!I visited Angus briefly, and he told me not to touch his stuff on a bun. I wasn’t going to!

Angus: Hang out as long as you like. Just don't touch my stuff, on a bun.Bunnie was outside, telling me she locked herself out of her house.

Bunnie: Ohmigosh, I'm so hungry and I can't get into my house and there's NO FOOD OUT HERE!
That’s nice. See ya later.

When I went to visit Ed, he told me to watch my step because he thought he saw a tumbler. But whose Tumblr was it?

Ed: Ah, watch your step when you walk through my place, bud! I think I saw a tumbler there.I saw Wendell walking around outside, glurgling and blurgling all over the place.

Wendell: Stomach so very empty... Keeps making a noise like gluuuurrrgle bluuuurrrgle...His rewards are just patterns, which I have no need for. So…no soup for you! Hey, I’m not the mayor in this game; I’m not obligated to help. 😛
